i'm a little early so i may end up with another book on here before the year is up, but we will see!

I read 130 books this year.

Favorites (in the order that I read them from least recent to most recent)

I'm Glad My Mom Died, by Jennette McCurdy

Troy, by Stephen Fry

Heroes, by Stephen Fry

Ellie Engle Saves Herself, by Leah Johnson

Wildbound, by Elayne Audrey Becker

Clytemnestra, by Constanza Casati

The Raven Tower, by Ann Leckie (this was actually a re-read, but I enjoyed it much more this second time around)

Crumbs, by Danie Stirling

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, by Sangu Mandanna (sorry, Mara. I'm a sap lol.)

Piranesi, by Susanna Clarke

Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, by Heather Fawcett

Mamo #1-5, by Sas Milledge

The Oleander Sword, by Tasha Suri

Divine Rivals, by Rebecca Ross

Godkiller, by Hannah Kaner

The Phoenix King, by Aparna Verma

The Spirit Glass, by Roshani Chokshi

Deep as the Sky, Red as the Sea, by Rita Chang-Eppig

One Dark Window, by Rachel Gillig

Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery (re-read)

Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen (I re-read this every year)

The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes, by Cat Sebastian (very sappy but OH i loved the chemistry)

The Tea Dragon Society, by K. O'Neill another re-read but still as lovely as the first time around.

Honorable Mentions: *which just means I flip flop between making it a fave or not.*

Painted Devils, by Margaret Owen

The Path of Thorns by A.G. Slatter

Psyche and Eros, by Luna McNamara

The Blighted Stars, by Megan E. O'Keefe

Home Is Not a Country, by Safia Elhillo, I loved this one, but the fantasy element at the end took me a bit by surprise, and so that kind of took me out of it.

The Jasad Heir, by Sara Hashem

Ithaca, by Claire North

The Fairy Bargains of Prospect Hill, by Rowenna Miller

The Fractured Dark, by Megan E. O'Keefe

Books I'm Confused About:

Medusa's Sisters, by Lauren J.A. Bear (I really, really can't decide what I think of this one. I think I liked it? Maybe? LOL)

okay, this is far long enough. i better stop now. lol. i can just never decide favorite things. it's a problem.

Nice haul.

I'm Glad My Mom Died, by Jennette McCurdy

Definitely on my list, but I'm afraid it'll make me depressed. ^^;

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, by Sangu Mandanna (sorry, Mara. I'm a sap lol.)

Hey, I gave this book 4 stars. I fully understand the appeal of grumpy librarians who have the personality of a cat.

Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen (I re-read this every year)

I like your style. I need to make a habit of this.

Holy crow 130 books. Impressive. You must read at lightning speed. Or never sleep, lol. I think the most I ever read in a single year was 60-something?

Idk my count for this year yet, because Goodreads is down, but I haven't met my goal of 24 books, I know that much. Or, I probably would if I counted picture books I read through at work, but I don't usually because that's tedious to pull out my phone and mark them all and I don't remember most of the ones I flip through anyway.

Oh, I had no idea the site was down... I was just thinking about updating my status on one of the books I've been reading to "completed", but I guess I can't do that just yet since the site's down... ^^; *shrug*

Yeah, I'm Glad My Mom Died is HEAVY. It was very well written though.

LOL, omg, he did have the personality of a cat.

And yeah, I started the tradition of re-reading Pride and Prejudice every year in, like.. 2019, I think? It's something I look forward to every year.

I don't really read that fast.. or at least I don't feel like I do. It's just one of my main hobbies, so I spend a lot of time doing it. And yeah, that's totally fair. I imagine it would be a hassle to bother with that while you are working.

I actually finished a graphic novel yesterday that was so cute. So Punderworld is going on my list of faves for the year.

My reading goal for this year is set at 24. I set it as that because one of my main goals this year is to read 24 of my already (unread)owned books for 2024!

lol yeah, I'm not entirely sure why it's called that? like I get the reference to the underworld since it's a Hades and Persephone retelling. but why that title?

Do you ever have a book where you are just like.... I have no idea what I'm feeling right now.

Yeah, I'm currently listening to The Blacktongue Thief, and that's what's happening. The world-building is a strange kind of fun, the humor is crass, and the violence is intense. It's got all the makings of a fantastic time. The MC voice is unique, and while the characters are intriguing, I haven't become overly attached to any of them.

I'm enjoying myself, so I highly doubt I'll DNF, but it's mostly just like... Do I like this? Or don't I? It's hard to tell.

Haha I felt that way through most of A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. For like the first 3/4 of the book I just could not decide if I liked it or not. There are lots of things about that series that I am not a fan of (it does a lot of telling rather than showing) but the premise is interesting and the narrator is funny, and I did overall enjoy the first book so I gave the second a shot and flew through it. I didn't end up finishing the third, but I think that's because I wasn't in the mood for it. I wanna give it another try and see how I feel about the series as a whole.

I think I liked it. Not a fave, but not a book I disliked either. I think it was good I listened to the audio book though. There were quite a few songs and hearing them performed added some fun flavor.

I also finished the second Emily Wilde book today! I enjoyed that! Yay for cozy fantasy with a dash of romance and mystery. The plot is somewhat slow moving, but I was never bored, and there are some things that were a bit convenient.. still, overall it was a pretty good time! I’ll for sure be picking up the next book in the series when it comes out.

This is the first year in a while that I'm just not feeling that into reading at all. Between September 2023 and now, I read a grand total of one book.

I read 100 in 2022 and 58 in 2023, and I think this year is going to be something really low for me, like 20.

I blame fan-fiction.

I feel that, friend.

All reading counts as reading! Ultimately, as long as you are having a good time, that's what matters.

I have been failing in my goal for this year. I've read 24 books, and only one was a book I already owned. Oopsies. Darn library books! Stop TEMPTING ME.
