Lol okay, so I've finally think I have officially grown a little tired of the “he was so strong. So broad. So big.” sort of thing in romance/ romantasy. Like yeah, I get he's impressive but do we have to like... Make it a reoccurring thing in every romance book? Like there are more important attributes here. Look, I'm not saying it's bad, I just would maybe like it if the male love interests were little more varied...and not copy-pasted.

I'm so proud of myself. I DNF'd that book. :) I do plan to try to pick it up again eventually, but still!

DNFing books is so freeing. I've got one out from the library that I should probably DNF. It's not the type of book I normally go for, but the summary sounded interesting, and I'm feeling a little tired of epic fantasy (my normal go-to) so I thought I'd try something different. But I got two chapters in and all I felt was...meh? I might try the third chapter and see how I feel, if it picks up at all. Then make my decision.

I still struggle with it a little. I just feel like I'm failing. But I've temporarily dnf'd at least three books this year, so I think I'm making progress.

I moved on to the next one, and I'm enjoying it more. I can always go back if I want.

Well, I hope your book gets more interesting to you, or if not, that you find something else that interests you. :)

lol tried a new book tonight. Got maybe a three chapters in before the repetitive weird use of “male” and “female” started driving me up a wall. Like… “the male was standing there…” that is such a weird way to say the guy was waiting. Like nope. I’m out.

I finished the Light from Uncommon Stars audiobook today, and it was good! I was a bit confused by some of it, but overall, I enjoyed it!

I loved the way the book talked about music. Music is more than just notes, it's more than how it's played. It's how it's FELT. I mean, when I listen to piece, no matter what genre it is, I can almost FEEL what the composer/ writer/ artist was feeling.

Music can create a space in which nothing matters beyond the music. It can feel like home. it can make you feel seen, understood and loved.

And it's amazing.

This piece was mentioned and I had to look it up.

Another dnf today!! Whoop!

The second one of the characters was introduced
I knew there was going to be a “love triangle”…. but like the dust jacket introduced the main male character so there wasn't any real competition or mystery. Like book, if you want me to think this is actually a love triangle you have to put a little effort forth. Also the main love interest was described as “cruel” which was a big nope. Sometimes that's a trope I can deal with, and even like (sullen... Broody. Like I get it) it's more just that the other love interest was the cinnamon roll. It's just suchhh a common trope. It is one I have read and LIKED before but it has to make me at least somewhat believe and root for both, instead of making it instantly obvious this is just for drama because there is no real question about who the MC will pick.

Right? Lol

I think I can only think of a few exceptions to that rule.

I liked the love triangle In The Hunger Games and in the first Legendborn cycle book (i haven't gotten to the second one yet oops.) but it's just like what's the point of including that element if you literally focus on only one of these “love interests” on the dust jacket? Like.. Just what?

LOL

"I never understand why these MCs have such poor taste. Homegirl go for the one with compassion!! WTF" But compassion isn't sexy, Mara. Relating to and caring about people is so LAME ;)

*grumbles*

*SIGH* you know what I don't like? When a book has the trope of a woman having a baby and the book is like ... "she thought she knew love before this.. but she didn't." LIKE. Why? I KNOW motherhood is a unique kind of love, and frankly, mothers are freaking miracle workers. But to even slightly insinuate that other women don't or won't experience the full depth of love until childbirth? UGH. THE FURY I FEEL.

It's just one of my biggest pet peeves.

Uggghhh that is so cringe. Motherhood isn't any more 'real' than other types of love. Just different.

yeah, the quote is: "I had thought I'd felt love, but looking at my son, I realized with wonder that I had never known the true meaning of it until this very moment." I WAS so close to DNFing for that one sentence alone, but I'd invested 412 pages already and couldn't bring myself to do it.

But yeah, I could rant about that particular cliche FOR HOURS because it makes me so angry. lol
