Are there any animes, NOT mangas, but animes, that would be geared towards me in a huge way?? Ones that I'd absolutely love??

If I ever had an anime to suggest, it's Magi! Oh wow, I just finished the third episode, and I must say that it is the best I've watched in a long time!

 

 

 

 

Basically, the characters are already superb - already character development in the first three episodes, and I am so ready for the rest of the series.

 

The gist: A mysterious boy named Aladdin shows up one day with a magical flute. Ali Baba, a poor commoner, finds Aladdin eating away at his boss's fruit. Through a bit of nonsense, the two end up best friends and decide to raid a place called a Dungeon. Dungeons are strange, ancient ruins that are filled with impossible traps. At the end, the conqueror of a dungeon gets wealth, and something called a djinn artifact, which I just learned hold genies. They, from what I gather, team up with Morgiana, who was at first their enemy, previously a slave.

 

It's cute, heart-warming, and I give this show a 10/10 so far, and I know it'll become my favorite anime in no time. I highly suggest it if you love heart-warming stories, with a bit of humor, adventure, fantasy, and constant references to the stories in the Arabian Knights (I mean, my goodness, the main characters' names should give that away - Ali Baba, Morgiana, and Aladdin) There is a lot of plot stirring up already, and I'm not even there yet. This is worth watching 100%.

I've actually recently started that one, too! I'm about 15 episodes in. So far so good!

Started watching Sword Art Online, or as I like to call it, "All the ladies love Kirito".

 

 

I'm only 11 episodes in, but so far I really, really like it. I'm a giant sucker for the Battle Couple trope anyway, and for once it was nice not to have to deal with 25 episodes of "will they or won't they" BS. Pretty much EVERYONE I've talked to about this show says that only the first season is worth watching, though, so I'm going to tune out after it's finished (God, I hope it doesn't end on a cliffhanger).

Don't worry Mara, I saw this show before and it has an ending that wraps things up nicely. I also took that advice and so haven't seen the other seasons. (They are not on Netflix anyway)

Just started watching this myself. The music, imagery, and characters are amazing...but I gotta say, it's really weird watching a freakin' 10 year old party it up in a titty bar

Just finished Magi season 1.

 

 

 

Titty fanservice aside, what an amazing series. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an anime as much as this one. It has everything that I love in a story: adventure, awesome fight scenes, magic and wonder, a great mythology, intense friendshippu~, dark vs. light, and nuanced characters with inspiring strengths and relatable flaws. I never want it to end! It reminds me of One Piece a little bit, except more metaphysical in tone (and with an Arabian feel, obviously).

 

So excited to start season 2...I think I'll check out the Sinbad OVAs too

I haven't been much of an anime watcher but since I've been hearing ALOT of great reviews of the Aladdin one, I'm going to give this one a try and see for myself.

@Pedro: Definitely give it more than 1 episode. I'd say 3 is all you need to get hooked, but it might take more for a person who isn't already a shounen fan.

Seasons 1 and 2 are both on Netflix. I recommend watching in Japanese with English subs because the 2nd season is only available in that format, and if you start out with the English dub, the transition will be jarring.
