Add that to the list of things I'd never expect to hear from Pedro...

Also, not sure if it counts as an anime, but I absolutely love the show RWBY (pronounced ruby), it looks like an anime, yet it's in english, either way it's an awesome show, I would link it but I'm in a tablet.
Did you hear? The creator of RWBY, Monty Oum, just died of a freak allergic reaction. It's absolutely heartbreaking...he was so talented, and he was only 33. His poor wife, and all his friends at Rooster Teeth studio...not to mention his many, many fans... He will be missed, and so will RWBY.

Corinne
I truly feel bad for his family and the worst part is how quickly he went from fine to... well not fine. I can tell you from experience that allergic reactions are terrifying, at the age of 3 I had a severe reaction to cashews. Within moments of eating the blasted things I just knew... somewhere deep down I knew something was wrong.
That being said I'm not 100% convinced RWBY will be finished, (unless there was some sort of public statement I missed) personally if I was working on such a project I would want it to continue with or without me.
As for Animes I have watched I have seen quite a few though I do tend to watch more serious ones.
--Gundam Seed/Gundam Seed Destiny--
Over all I would recommend this anime to anyone who is ok with some mature topics. Pretty much the base story is there is a war between humans and coordinators (genetically altered humans). The story follows the journey of Kira Yamato who a coordinator who ends up fighting for the humans against his own kind (including his childhood best friend). It varies quite a bit in mood wise but it does have a pretty happy ending. (even if the ending is a bit idealistic)
--Full Metal Alchemist/FMA Brotherhood--
Great plot, amazing characters and a lot of deep philosophical stuff. I honestly have very few complaints with this series and most of those are trivial and not even worth mentioning. Honestly this anime is one of my favorites. (Brotherhood is better)
--Death Note--
This one had me hooked never before have I been so conflicted about a villain I wanted him to lose and yet..... I didn't. At least until about halfway through then I just wanted him dead. Overall a good anime deep philosophical stuff, mystery, suspense and L. I honestly would have watched the show just to see L's antics. I mean honestly how much sugar can one person eat without going into a coma?
--High School of the Dead--
If you like zombies and psychology this may interest you it is simply a bunch of high school students (and a nurse) surviving the zombie apocalypse. It was a decent show overall but if you don't like gore or absurd fan-service this is not one for you. I mean I can appreciate a little fan-service as much as the next guy, but watching a close up of a bullet literally fly between a bouncing pair of boobs made my head hurt. And don't even get me started on episode 6 I felt like my mother was going to bust in and think I was watching hentai.
--Gundam 00--
Most Gundam shows follow pretty much the same plot but with a slightly different focus so if you liked any of the Gundam series you may like this one.
The biggest thing about this one for me was the main characters they all had some pretty deeply rooted reasons for doing what they did and honestly that is a big thing for me.
--Girls Und Panzer--
I was sleep deprived, bored out of my mind; dealing with the I just finished an anime and have nothing to do blues, and I may or may not have been really lonely and had nobody to talk/hangout with......don't judge me.
http://i.imgur.com/9PtPeC0.jpg
The main plot... is a sports tournament ....yes in this world young middle school girls can join the school tank program. They maintain their tanks, drive them; oh and the best part is they engage in battles with other schools with live ammunition. But don't worry, "Accidents involving students being hit by rounds are very rare."
What on earth is that supposed to mean?!?!
Anyway if you don't really care too much about plot, physics, logic or military tactics and just want something really lighthearted and goofy........ yeah ...this may be for you....
--Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann--
Pretty much the male equivalent of a chick flick, or as my buddies call it a bro-flick except its an entire series of bro-flick nonsense. Never before has a grown man combining with a young teen boy been so....... not erotic at all and ultimately manly. It took a bit but this series really grew on me and as bizarre and illogical as most of the series was the ending was perfect and just made so much sense. From what I hear the Movie somehow gets more epic....... What on earth could possibly be more epic then a series in which galaxies are thrown as weapons?!?
--Kill la Kill--
This one took a bit to get into as I the first things I noticed were the overboard shenanigans and the outfits that screamed fan-service. But somewhere along the way (not sure where) I became hooked. The ending makes sense, most of the absurdities were explained and the series felt complete, the fights were truly epic, Mako is..... yeah Mako is Mako and we love her for it and the soundtrack was amazing. Overall I would not trade the experience for the time I spent.
--Attack on Titan--
Mara pretty much summed it all up I don't really have anything else to say about it.
--Angel Beats--
When I watched this anime a 22 year old grown man almost cried, I could feel the tears hiding behind me eyes waiting to spill out.
I have honestly never before seen an anime that could so expertly make you laugh at the characters crazy antics, cry at the injustices life had dealt them and then cry again when their dreams came true. And the ending omg I never saw it coming I wasn't sure if what my heart felt was pain or joy.....or was it both. Overall for such a short series it was an amazing ride and though it is an incredible emotional roller coaster it does have a happy ending.
--Sidonia no Kishi (Knights of Sidonia)--
Think Attack on Titan...but in space. The enemy isn't right in your face like in Attack on Titan but when it does show its face you feel it. Like Attack on Titan it is still airing so cliff hangers are a thing but it is worth it. I still have so many unanswered questions regarding the main plot and the other characters and I am hooked. Some characters I absolutely love others I seriously want to see eaten by a Gauna. But the biggest thing that caught me off guard is that it is an anima with mechs and in many cases these anime are all about the mech and its new super armor/weapons; not with this anime. In this anime it's all about the pilots and what they go through. I watched an episode that was pretty much just 2 pilots stranded in space; eating bland rations, drinking filtered urine, photosynthesizing, and sleeping and I was hooked. It was honestly one of the most strangely romantic episodes I have ever seen in any show. And yes I did say they were photosynthesizing (at least one of them). Also not once in this series have I watched a character die without feeling a gut wrenching sense of pity and sadness for them even if they aren't major characters you still feel awful for them.
There are more I have seen but these are the most memorable ones so I will leave it here for now since I need sleep as a combination of insomnia and mid sleep asthma attacks have ruined my sleep cycle the past 2 weeks and I am running on fumes.

Guys...it's time. Time for me to make a DEFINITIVE GUIDE ![]()
Have you ever sat back and really thought about how much time you've spent watching TV? I did that today...and shit, son, it's a LOT
So here you have it. Every single anime series that I've watched over the past 10 years.
Total time commitment? Counting rewatches, it comes out to just over 34 DAYS. That's right, people - I spent a solid MONTH watching anime
And that's not including OVAs, feature films, and series that I started and then gave up on.
Here's the full damage:
INUYASHA
The very first anime I ever watched. I used to stay up until like 1am to catch it on adult swim (in secret, of course...back then my mom thought everything was "the devil", so naturally a show about magic and demons was a no-go).
TRIGUN
Back in high school, my friend Emma and I marathoned this in one looooong-ass sitting - as I recall, we started in the morning and didn't finish until 2:45am. I hallucinated pretty strongly while sleeping that night ![]()
NOIR
Another series that I watched with Emma back in the day. Don't remember much about this one, other than the fact that it had the coolest opening ever.
ONE PIECE
My favorite anime for many, many years - and the primary contributor to the 34 day tally. I watched somewhere on the order of 450 episodes before I finally threw in the towel and decided to wait for series completion to watch the rest. Still waiting...
FRUITS BASKET
My little cousin Mimi was obsessed with this manga when she was younger, so naturally we watched the anime together. She still has her Kyo cat pajamas, all these years later...I wore them recently while visiting her house. Go figure ![]()
CHOBITS
Emma gave me this one too. Kind of a WTF experience, looking back on it ![]()
OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB
I don't think I really appreciated this series enough the first time I saw it. I need to watch it again at some point.
COWBOY BEBOP
Another series that I marathoned with Emma. Made me want to get a Corgi.
EUREKA SEVEN
Great show. Hated the ending.
FULL METAL PANIC
Saw this in college with my buddy Tim - although we skipped the 2nd season, as I recall. Mostly I just remember loving every word that left Sosuke's crazy, extremely attractive mouth ![]()
DEATH NOTE
*insert potato chip joke*
IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN TYLOR
An oddball series with a SUPREME crowning moment of awesome for the main character.
VANDREAD
Tim liked this one a lot more than I did. Dita was cute though ![]()
ERGO PROXY
Remember that time Amy Lee got made into an anime character? Yeah, that was awesome. I have NO f*cking idea what this show was about, but Vincent's eye-reveal scene still blows my goddamn mind.

PLANÈTES
An impressively believable hard-scifi series that I screened together with Tim. Definitely worth checking out.
NOW AND THEN, HERE AND THERE
This motherf*cker broke me. What a profoundly disturbing, heart-rending, unforgettable story. Once you've seen it, it'll never stop haunting you.
BLACK LAGOON
Pretty sure this one holds the record for most f-bombs dropped in a single season. Also Revy is a mega-babe ![]()
THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA
*Hare Hare Yukai dance*
CODE GEASS
Another series that Tim and I watched together. Lelouch, you poor bastard.
TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM??
SEREI NO MORIBITO
An unusual series with a lot going for it, including a fantastic mother-son type relationship between a battle-hardened spearwoman and an imperiled young royal. I just wish the supernatural elements had been better explained.
CANAAN
I remember...nothing about this show.
SAMURAI CHAMPLOO
Damn, I watched a lot of crap with Tim. I love the opening artwork with a passion ![]()
SOUL EATER
Saw this with my cousin Jordan, then again with my mom's boyfriend. F*cking love it ![]()
DURARARA
BOSS opening and ending themes. Celty is my homegirl.
KAICHOU WA MAID-SAMA
Watched this one on Katie's recommendation. Usui is a trolling GOD
PRINCESS JELLYFISH
I cannot fathom why this only got 11 episodes. It's so damn precious.

DANGAN RONPA
Murder. Intrigue. Psychotic teddy bears. And pink blood, bitch ![]()
TONARI NO KAIBUTSU-KUN
This damn thing had me in stitches. A romantic comedy starring a cold, does-not-give-a-shit workaholic and a socially retarded psycho? YES PLZ. Too bad it just...cuts off on episode 13. Now I need to read the manga
MIRAI NIKKI
High-caliber nightmare fuel, featuring blood-soaked, sloppy, under-age makeouts. Oh, and murder. Lots of that.
DENNOU COIL
This anime is criminally underrated. For the love of all that is holy, please watch it.
FREE!
What kind of self-respecting tumblr addict would I be if I hadn't seen this beautiful, perfect piece of shit? A+, 10/10, and you should check out the abridged series.
THE WALLFLOWER
A comedy about a horror-obsessed girl who believes she's irredeemably ugly. The constant chibification got to be a little much, though.
ZANKYOU NO TERROR
The show that makes you root for terrorists ![]()
UTA NO PRINCE-SAMA
This was such an experience that I had to liveblog it.
SWORD ART ONLINE
Well, I liked the first 16 episodes...Kirito and Asuna's relationship is one of my all-time favorite anime romances. They make such an incredible team.
FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD
Watched this one on Mary's recommendation. I don't need to tell you guys what a priceless gem it is.
SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN
When the hell is season 2 coming out?
PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA
Saw this with Emma recently. Visually distinctive and compelling, but it wasn't really my thing.
KYOUKAI NO KANATA
Super moe bloodbender ![]()
NORAGAMI
Surprisingly good for a 12-episoder. It helps that Kazuma is such a babe.
MAGI
Love LOVE LOVE. Give me more. Now.
....And that's it. I think. I have an excellent memory, but I may have forgotten one or two.
If you managed to make it all the way through this list, what about you? Seen any of these? Got any more recommendations for me?
~*Mara*~ = ^.^ =
*Series where I watched at least 10 episodes, but didn't finish: Vision of Escaflowne, Blue Gender, Baka 'n Test, & Terra E. If you count these, it adds an extra day to the tally.

There are very few anime that I've finished. I used to watch a lot of what was put on Toonami with my older siblings back when I was a kid. Hamtaro, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, a bit of Dragon Ball GT, Rurouni Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo...a handful of episodes of Fruits Basket. That's all I remember.
But of what I've actually watched all the way through, it's much shorter: Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Attack on Titan, and Free!. I've been meaning to watch Dennou Coil for ages but never seem to get around to it.

Dangit Mara its all your fault!
I started watching Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and I almost woke my family up because I could barely keep myself from bursting out laughing at 4 AM. My god I love this anime already and I've only seen the first episode. Even now I am looking at the clock trying to figure out what is more important to me; another half hour of sleep or watching another episode. ![]()

I just finished the 1st season of Magi and I agree with Mara there needs to be a 3rd season because 1 more season of Morgiana simply won't be enough. And I just love how little faith Sinbad's men have when it comes to him behaving with women, I mean it did take magic to truly convince them he was innocent of the crimes he was accused of.

So at the recommendation of a friend I am about to plunge into Fate/Zero. I'm not entirely sure what to expect from this one.... but I know it's gonna be dark. I doubt I'll have a hard time with it since I watched Mirrai Nikki without any problem despite the copious amounts of sheer nightmare fuel in it. But I can honestly say from the one clip I have seen so far Fate/Zero is definitely not for the faint of heart. Out of all the deaths I have seen in shows or movies the one in that scene was near the top of my list of most gruesome.

I finished Fate/Zero 2 days ago..... and I'm still in emotional shock. It had dark moments like I expected, but over all it was an intense emotional ride that I will never forget. I felt bad in some way for almost every character in this show, from the heartless monsters to the back ground characters. Even now I am mourning their sacrifices.
This anime has earned its place among my favorites for several reasons.
(1) It truly did engage you in the story, I was so into the stories of all the characters that I wasn't sure who I wanted to win.
(2) Realistic consequences, this anime took the saying "You reap what you sow." to heart and though I would love to give an example of this doing so would be a major spoiler.
(3) Outstanding characters; Rider is a total Bro, Archer is the definition of God-King, and Caster despite being pure evil... has moments that would seem really heartwarming if you could forget how evil he is, and I swear every time Kotomine smiles an angel probably dies. And his father is a priest.
(4) Amazing Soundtrack

After watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann I didn't think it could get any more hilariously epic than that....Gurren Lagann Hen just proved me wrong. This movie is essentially the last 2/3 of the anime condensed and the final battle taken to a whole new level.

I've been really, really, REALLY sick these past few days, and the only thing getting me through is the amazing new manga I found.
It's called Otoyomegatari, and it's set along the Silk Road in rural Central Asia during the 1800s. The story primarily revolves around a young nomadic horsewoman, Amira, who arrives from a distant village to marry Karluk, a boy eight years her junior. Complications arise when Amira's brothers return from over the mountains and demand their sister back (due to circumstances that I won't spoil here), and a conflict breaks out between the members of her birth family and the members of her husband's family. Meanwhile, problems are brewing in the north, and political tensions cast a shadow over everyone and everything. War may be inevitable, but in the meantime, life goes on. Wedding ceremonies come and go, feasts and celebrations pass, caravans travel back and forth along the Silk Road. Promises are made, petty squabbles are resolved, livestock are herded to fertile pastures, and children get themselves into trouble. It's an idyllic, unchanging pastoral life, with all its simple joys and tribulations.
I am CRAZY about this manga. It reminds me a little of Red River, but with a far greater air of historical authenticity. Local customs and ancient beliefs factor heavily into the narrative, meaning that things like alliance-through-wedlock, child marriages, inter-tribal warfare, etc. are all "normal" in the eyes of the characters. I adore the contrast between the traditions of the time, which are often so alien to the modern reader, and the simple, day-to-day interactions between family and friends, which are so familiar. Amira is an immensely likeable main character (what an adorable badass!), and her husband is an absolute sweetheart. Their relationship is both tragic and endearing, because they've both been maneuvered into this marriage by their elders, and yet they genuinely do care about one another. Even though they cannot be together like real spouses because of their age difference, their bond is both evident and, well, surprisingly touching.
My absolutely FAVORITE character is Mr. Smith, a British anthropologist traveling along the Silk Road, who lives with Amira and Karluk for a time. He's constantly asking awkward questions and jotting down notes, always with curiosity, and never with a judgmental air. As he travels toward Ankara in Turkey, he acts like a string, linking together the various parts of the plot. Through him, the reader gets to meet a variety of different characters from disparate cultures and see snippets of their lives and loves.
Anyway, I can't wait for the next chapter to come out. Damn ongoing manga, why can't it be finished already? I need more! ![]()

Oh, and I should mention... the artwork is amazing. So much detail is put into the clothing, tapestries, architecture, and other scenery. The people in the story hugely value embroidery and woodwork and other crafts, and its importance in their culture is echoed in the artwork. Every page is a feast for the eyes.

I just got done watching the first episode of Knights of Sidonia season 2 and holy crap am I hungry for more. ![]()
This one episode has shattered every thought I had regarding the direction of the series and I now have no clue where it is going, all I know is that wherever it is going I want to follow and see how this massive web of plot twists plays out.

Ok so I thought episode 1 blew away all my expectations..... but apparently episode 2 found some more to blow away, I'm hooked.

I just finished season 2 of Knights of Sidonia, the only reason it took me this long was because I forced myself to nurse this baby like a glass of fine wine. It's hard to name all the reasons I am enjoying this anime but I will try to quickly cover the main attractions.
Plot: The plot is quite juicy already and it is only getting better fast. I can't really say anything more here without giving away alot
The relationships are meaningful: I cherish each and every interaction between the characters.... though this is partly because I never know if they will ever have another.
The soundtrack is fantastic: It isn't really that flashy of a soundtrack but the way they use it gets solid results. The track below is one of my personal favorites, every time I listen to it I can hear the alarms sounding as the hangar crews frantically prepare the launch bays as rookie and veteran pilots alike rush to their battle stations with fear, determination and hatred on their faces.... every time this plays I know in my gut one of my beloved characters may never come home.
https://soundcloud.c...-of-sidonia-ost
The battles are cinematic masterpieces: Every training simulation or skirmish is a feast for the senses. The frantic action as pilots desperately claw victory from the jaws of defeat, the detailed environments, the cluttered debris fields, the frantic shouting of orders and warnings between pilots and their commanders, and the cries of terror as pilots meet their end all mix together beautifully.
Life has value: Almost each and every death in this show is portrayed as the tragedy it is. When it becomes apparent that a pilot isn't going to make it you see their comrades respond, pilots frantically try to avert the impending tragedy while those on standby either turn away in tears or just stare in horror knowing there is nothing they can do. In the 5-6 major battles I have seen so far I have witnessed like 3 instances of pilots sacrificing themselves to save someone else, and I have stopped counting the number of times I have seen someone snatch a comrade from death's grasp and live. Heck I've seen several cases where pilots literally flown straight into enemy fire or enemy ships to protect someone (And lived believe it or not.)
Balance: Humanity is fighting for its very survival and death is a constant, and yet the show isn't all doom and gloom. There are plenty of amusing or touching moments such as someone bringing the ace pilot a rice ball to thank him for saving their life, that perv pilot getting punched by his crush or the protaganist accidentally walking in on his female comrades photosynthesizing. (Yes, they can actually do that.)
Science: While the show doesn't have quite as much science babble as JN there are some interesting concepts. Human Photosynthesis and a 3rd gender that automatically adapts to its chosen partner being some of the most noteworthy examples. (yeah try denying the fact that you got the hots for the smoking hot stud in zulu squadron when your body decides to grow boobs after your assigned to work closely with him.
)
If any of this interests you check out the fan made trailer below, there are some pilot deaths in the video but none that are spoilers.
