I finished Pokémon Season Two, and I'm now starting to watch Season Three! It's starting out pretty awesome, just as Season Two did!

I decided to start going through my bookmark folder of shows to watch. Many of them I've found out about in this topic here, and I decided to watch Free! since Mara and Amanda both liked it a lot. I finished the first episode. It's waaaaaayyyy different than that I'm used to with anime. I usually watch stuff that's more towards the dramatic. But then here's this comedy and I'm not even sure what to do about it. I liked it, though. It was really funny. Haruka is such a weirdo lol. All of them, actually. They're all pretty weird, but Haruka takes the cake. And Rin seems like a total jerkwad so far, though it's only episode one so that may change.

 

The name thing is apparently a big joke apparently, though I didn't really get it, seeing as I'm not well-versed in Japanese and had no idea that all the boys had feminine names until it was explicitly pointed out.

 

I liked all the super-dramatic shirt-removals. They were hilarious. I'm really looking forward to more of those

Aw man, I wish you'd've watched Free when I was watching it. The fandom jokes we could've shared...

I have to say, the closing theme song fantastic. It's so ridiculous and makes no sense. I like the part when Haru looks for water in the desert and everyone shows empty canteens and shakes their heads, and then Rin has this evil gloating smile as his servants pour an endless stream of water over him. It's great haha.

 

And Kou commenting to herself on all the fanservice that comes with being surrounded by athletic swimmer dudes That's really funny, too.

 

I'm also totally convinced that Rin and Haru's interactions are a result of both Foe Yay and Ho Yay.

 

I'm looking forward to the third episode when we finally meet the guy with glasses who's in the opening and closing montage.

Can I just say that the #1 thing I got out of Free is an intense desire to watch an actual show about belly-shirt wearing middle eastern boys who participate in erotic water montages? Every time the ending theme came on, I was like: "This. This show right here. THIS is the one I wanna watch. Please give it to me; I will pay money."

I watched episode five earlier today.

 

The ending tho.... Legit worried for my boys. When did this happen?

Rei has butterflies on his pajamas, too! That made me really really happy.

 

And these boys have such a great friendship brewing. MakotoxHaruka bromance FTW. Also I love seeing Rei get accepted so quickly and immediately thought of as one of the guys and immediately worthy of being close to the others. *sniff sniff*

 

And Rin and his dad! And he told Nitori about it, but I the feeling that Rin never told Nagisa, Makoto, and Haru about it, so yay for growing friendship there, too!

 

I'm two thirds of the way done now. Finished episode eight earlier tonight.

I know lol. Nagisa was cute and funny, but he was definitely my least favorite character because he was the most static and didn't really have any backstory. Everyone changed or grew except him. Rei and Makoto were my favorites.

And he was such a sweet big bro.

 

But Rei holds a special place in my heart as well. I just have a soft spot for nerdy characters And he was adorkable in the episode with the abandoned rest house. I don't think I've ever seen someone open a refrigerator more dramatically in my life.
