I’ve been watching Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. I’m currently 10 episodes in.
So far, I would say it’s good. I think it has a really great premise, and the emotional scenes are very effective.
That said, I don’t feel like I really get what the massive hype around it is all about. I started it, because everyone kept talking about it as the new great anime, and it seemed to be near the top of a lot of lists, and I’m not really seeing why…
I do like it though. There’s something oddly… calming about it, and as I said, the idea behind it is really good.
NGL, I totally see the hype. I'm about 12 episodes in, and I find the subtle way it deals with grief to be quite moving. The fact that everything is understated creates a wistful, poignant mood that sticks with you long after you stop watching. It really resonates with my life experience in a way I can't quite explain.
