So, I've decided to post another chapter. I know, I know, I'm a pretty quick updater. :P I guess I just like updating, LOL. Anywhoo, here's the chapter!
Chapter Twelve: Can't Change The Past
**As Cindy and Libby sit down on their beds, they can hear Carl and Sheen shouting various things along the lines of, “I’m getting the bed by the window!” and “We’re leaving the blinds up!” from the other guest room. Cindy sits up on her bed.**
CINDY: Libby, can we talk?
**Libby sits up and turns to face Cindy.**
LIBBY: Sure. I don’t think I’ll be able to get to sleep anyway.
CINDY: What would you have done if Sheen had been captured?
**Slightly taken aback by her question, Libby thinks for a moment before answering.**
LIBBY: I’d try to save him. After all, he saved me when that crazed, Karate Kid wannabe captured me.
CINDY: But why would you try to save him?
LIBBY: Well, because I care about him. Why are YOU trying to save Jimmy?
CINDY: I don’t know!
LIBBY: Yeah, ya do. It’s ‘cause you like him. Just admit it, girl.
CINDY: I don’t! I just owe it to him!
LIBBY (rolling her eyes): Whatever you say.
CINDY: You know, this isn’t making me feel any better.
LIBBY: Don’t feel bad. This isn’t your fault.
CINDY: Yes, it is. If I had just waited for the future like everyone else, nobody would be captured.
LIBBY: Ya know Jimmy’s future self would’ve probably been captured even if we didn’t come.
CINDY: Maybe, but it’s still my fault that Neutron got captured.
**Libby looks at her sympathetically.**
LIBBY: It’s not like ya planned for this to happen. Besides, now your future self has you, me, Carl and Sheen to help her.
**As if on cue, Sheen is heard from the other room.**
SHEEN (from other guest room): Carl, don’t be a baby! It’s only a spider the size of a hockey puck!! Wait…AHHHH!!!!!
LIBBY (giggling slightly): Okay, maybe that wasn’t my best argument. The point is you’ve got us to help. I betcha your future self isn’t as worried as you. Can I please go to sleep now?
CINDY: Fine, but with those two next door, I doubt we’ll get any sleep.
**Libby smiles before going to sleep. After thirty minutes or so, Cindy decides to talk to her future self in hopes of calming her nerves. She tiptoes out of her room and down the hall to a room with a slightly cracked door. Golden light pours out onto the ultramarine carpet, illumining it beautifully. Slowly she opens the door and peers in. Future Cindy sits cross-legged on her bed, surrounded by papers and an open photo album.**
CINDY (opening the door and stepping in): Um, can I come in?
FUTURE CINDY (looking up from her papers): Looks like you already did. Sure, I’m just working on the plan.
**Confidently, Cindy walks into the room. As she walks to where a chair is on the other side of the room, her eyes fall on the open picture album. The page displays a picture of Jimmy and Cindy at a wedding…their wedding. They appear to be in the mid-twenties in the picture. The background shows a reddish-orange soil and a beautiful light pink sky.**
CINDY: Wait, is this a picture of…ME AND NEUTRON’S FUTURE SELF GETTING MARRIED?!?
FUTURE CINDY (scoffs): Don’t act so surprised. You did see my clipboard earlier, right?
CINDY: Ugh, give me a break. I’m still trying to get used to the fact that I’m gonna be married to my rival. Where the heck did you guys get married anyway?
I hope the chapter wasn't too boring. Once again, not that good of a cliffhanger. :P Ah well, the next chapter has one. ;) So, do any of you wanna take guesses on where Jimmy and Cindy got married? I may already have it written, but it's still fun for me to see what your guesses are!
