Chapter Seven: "So, do you guys like your future so far?"

**Cindy’s jaw drops a little when she sees Future Jimmy.**

CINDY (to Jimmy): Wow, as much as I hate to say this, your future self isn’t that bad looking.

JIMMY: Thanks.

**Both of them smile sweetly at each other. That is, until they realize there are other people around. They stop smiling and look away in a façade of disgust.**

FUTURE JIMMY: I don’t think you all came here just to stand outside, so why don’t you come in?

**Everyone enters the house. The walls are a deep blue with cream-colored trim. The walls are filled with various prizes, awards and medals. They go into a living room and sit down.**

CARL: Um, Future Cindy, why do you have a necklace that looks like the swirly thingy on Jimmy’s shirt?

FUTURE CINDY: Two things. One: It’s called an atom --

FUTURE JIMMY: And two, why she has it is a long story. We’ll tell you guys, if you wanna hear it.

SHEEN: What kind of real man wants to hear a story about a necklace?

CARL: I wanna hear it! I wanna hear it!!

SHEEN: Carl! You’re not helping me prove that we’re real men!

**Cindy is about to say something when Jimmy grabs her hand to quiet her, which it does. She smiles at him.**

FUTURE CINDY: It was actually about thirteen years ago that I got this necklace. It was right before we went away for college. Libby and Sheen were going to a modeling school, Carl was going to Sweden to a school about raising llamas, Jimmy was going off to Harvard and I was going off to Princeton.

FUTURE JIMMY: Cindy and I had been together since we were sixteen and now we were going away to two different colleges. Neither of us were too excited about it. We had rented out the Retroville Community Center for a little graduation party with our families.

FUTURE CINDY: All of us were leaving for college the next day, so this was our chance to say goodbye.

FUTURE JIMMY: After Sheen had make a remark about how he and Libby would be going to the same college and how Carl might get to see Elke, Cindy had left the community center. She had looked sad and said she was fine, but when a girl says they’re fine, they usually don’t mean it. So I went after her. I found her outside, staring at the stars.

JIMMY: Cin, are you okay?

CINDY (tearfully): I-I already told y-you. I’m f-fine.

JIMMY: Is this about college?

CINDY (nodding): How are we supposed to stay together? I really, really don’t wanna breakup.

JIMMY: We don’t have to. (Hands her a small box) Besides, I have something for you.

**She opens the box to see a golden necklace resting on a cushion of sapphire velvet. The necklace’s pendent is in the shape of Jimmy’s atom insignia. She smiles brightly and looks at Jimmy, who is smiling sheepishly.**

JIMMY: I made it for you. Do you like it?

CINDY: I love it! Thank you!

FUTURE CINDY: And that’s why I have this necklace.

**At the end of the story, Jimmy, Carl and Sheen are acting like they’re grossed out, while Cindy and Libby are squealing with girlish glee.**

FUTURE JIMMY (to Cindy and Jimmy): So, do you guys like your future so far?

CINDY: That depends --

JIMMY: What are your jobs?

Okay, I've decided to post yet ANOTHER chapter. Eh, not much to say about this one, other than the fact that there's a huge (or so people say) cliffhanger at the end. Here's the chapter!



Chapter Eight: What Happens When You Try To Leave

FUTURE JIMMY: Well, I’m a nuclear physicist and an inventor.

FUTURE CINDY: And I’m an astronomer, specializing in planetary astronomy.

FUTURE JIMMY: Now that we’ve answered your question, will you answer ours?

CINDY: Well, I guess I’d like my future, if I wanted to be married to an arrogant, self-centered know-it-all!

JIMMY: It takes arrogant to know arrogant!

LIBBY: They mean they like their futures.

SHEEN: Um, Jimmy, I enjoy watching you and Cindy deny your true feelings as much as the next guy, but can we go home? There’s an all-night Ultralord marathon and if I get home now, my sugar rush will keep me up all night!!

CARL: Yeah, and I wanna see the premiere of a series on the Llama Channel. It’s called Trading Llamas!

JIMMY (stops arguing with Cindy): Fine. Future me, could you please take us to the Chrono-Arch?

FUTURE JIMMY: Okay, but it’s been a while since I last used it.

**Everyone leaves the living room and heads down to Jimmy’s lab. It’s filled with a plethora of scientific gadgets. They make their way over to the Chrono-Arch, which is covered in a layer of dust.**

FUTURE CINDY: Wow, we haven’t worked over here in forever.

JIMMY: Wait a minute. You let her into my lab?

**Future Jimmy nods as a loud noise is heard upstairs.**

FUTURE CINDY: What was that? Did another one of your prototypes explode?

FUTURE JIMMY: No, they couldn’t have made that big of a commotion. We’ve gotta go. You guys know how to work the Chrono-Arch.

**The two adults run upstairs. As soon as Jimmy turns on the Chrono-Arch, a piecing scream is heard from upstairs, along with a loud crash.**

LIBBY: What happened up there?

CARL: I don’t wanna know! It could be evil aliens that’ll eat our faces!!

SHEEN: Don’t be silly Carl!! They wouldn’t just eat our faces; they’d eat all of us!

CARL: But I’m too young to be eaten!!

LIBBY: Sheen, stop scarin’ Carl.

SHEEN: Sí, mi perla preciosa.

CINDY: Well, are we just gonna stand here or are we gonna go see what happened?

JIMMY: Then let’s go see.

CARL (stalling): Oh, would you look at the time? I’ve gotta be home in a little bit. See ya later, Jim!

**Carl tries to leave, but Jimmy stops him.**

JIMMY: C’mon Carl. Everything’s probably fine.

**When they arrive upstairs, they find that everything is anything but fine. Pictures are knocked off the walls and shattered on the ground. The living room is an even worse scene. The furniture is knocked over for the most part, and a few vases are lying on the ground, broken pieces of porcelain littering the floor. Future Jimmy is sitting on an upturned sofa, trying to comfort Future Cindy, who’s crying about something.**

SHEEN (to Libby): Wow, this looks worse than my room.

JIMMY: What happened?

FUTURE JIMMY: Here, read this note.



Ooh, a plot twist!! Yes, I know I'm evil. :P Eh, I don't see why people seem to think this chapter ends on a huge cliffhanger.

M'kay, so I'm posting the next chapter now. Why? Because I want to. :P This one is more an explanation chapter, if that makes any sense. Hope you all like it!



Chapter Nine: The Access Pass

**Jimmy opens a note that’s in horrible condition and attempts to read the poorly scribed words.**

JIMMY (trying to read from the note): Have the access…if you -- I can’t read this. Half the words are missing and the others are smudged.

FUTURE JIMMY: Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Hold on a sec.

**Future Jimmy pulls out something that looks like a medium-sized disk and scans the paper. The missing words appear instantaneously.**

JIMMY: Okay, now I can read it. (Reading from the note) I have the access pass. If you want it back, go to the park. Signed Nathan Nefarious.

SHEEN: Who’s Nathan Nefarious? Besides a guy that can’t write a very scary note.

LIBBY: Yeah, and what does “the access pass” do?

**Future Cindy, who is no longer crying, looks up. Mascara streaks her face like a line of ink going across a piece of paper. **

FUTURE CINDY (shakily): The access pass overrides the voice recognition system for the other lab.

JIMMY: Other lab?

FUTURE JIMMY: Yes. It’s where I keep my slightly more dangerous inventions.

SHEEN (excitedly): You mean the really cool ones that glow and fizz and have all the shiny buttons on ‘em?

**Everyone stares at Sheen.**

SHEEN: What?

JIMMY: Wait, what’s the access pass?

FUTURE CINDY: My necklace.

JIMMY: So, this Nathan guy took your necklace and has access to my future self’s other lab? Who is he anyway?

FUTURE JIMMY: Nathan’s a former colleague of mine. I guess I should’ve known he was up to no good with a last name like “Nefarious”. He always was jealous of me.

CINDY: We’re dealing with a jealous nutcase? Eh, we’ve dealt with worse.

JIMMY: I concur with her last statement. Are you two gonna go after him?

FUTURE JIMMY: Well, we would need some help.

JIMMY: We’ll help you.

SHEEN (whiningly): But, Jimmy, if we go, I’ll miss the start of the Ultralord marathon.

CARL: And my mom says I shouldn’t go after villains on an empty stomach.

CINDY: Alright, I’ve had enough of you two. Both of you guys are gonna go, and you’re going to stop complaining. Got it?

SHEEN (cowering behind Libby like a frightened deer): Libby, shield me with your stunning beauty!!

LIBBY: Sheen, calm down.

SHEEN (sits up like nothing happened): Okay.

FUTURE CINDY: Okay, then it’s settled. We’ll take the hover van.

**They all exit the room and head toward the door. Upon arriving at the garage, Future Cindy reaches into one of the pockets of her lab coat and pulls out a remote. She tosses it to Future Jimmy, who catches it with ease. He pushes a button and the garage door retracts, slowly showing a silver van. They enter the van and arrive at the park in a matter of minutes.**

CINDY (tapping her foot impatiently): Where is this guy? We’ve been waiting for at least twenty minutes.

**All of the sudden, a rustling of leaves is heard from behind the group. A man of medium height steps out and grins sinisterly.**

MAN: Hello, Jimmy and Cindy. Miss me?



Heh heh, it's kinda a cliffhanger, I guess. Anyway, did you like the chapter? I don't really think it was all that good, which is understandable since I wrote it while I had writer's block :P I'll have the next one up pretty soon. :D

Chapter Ten: Things Go From Bad To Worse

**The man steps forward and circles the group, his cold brown eyes focused on Future Jimmy.**

MAN: Oh, how cute. You brought your past selves to help you.

FUTURE JIMMY: Nathan, why don’t you just give us back the necklace and whatever else you took, and we’ll just forget about this.

**Nathan reaches into his pocket and pulls out Future Cindy’s necklace. He holds the chain and swings it back and forth tauntingly.**

NATHAN: You mean this? Honestly, I would expect you to know me better than that, Jimmy.

CINDY (whispering to Jimmy): I don’t like this guy.

JIMMY (whispering): He’s a villain. You’re not supposed to like him.

CINDY (whispering: Yeah, yeah, I know. But, I just have this feeling he’s gonna do something really bad.

JIMMY (whispering): Wow, so now you have a sixth sense?

CINDY (whispering): Oh, forget it. I was only trying to help.

**Jimmy opens his mouth to try to talk to her, but is cut off as she turns her back to him.**

FUTURE CINDY (whispering): We’ve got enough problems to worry about without you two arguing, so stop it.

CINDY (whispering): Well, it’s his fault!

JIMMY (whispering): Mine?

CINDY (whispering): Yes, yours! You didn’t even bother to listen to me!

JIMMY (whispering): What you were saying was completely preposterous! What did you expect me to do?

CINDY (whispering): I expected you to at least hear what I had to say!

JIMMY (whispering): You wanted me to listen you say something about your suspicions?

**Future Cindy puts her hand in front of them, stopping their argument.**

FUTURE CINDY (whispering): First off, stop fighting. Second, what are you two talking about?

JIMMY (whispering): Well, Sylvia Browne over here thinks that something bad is gonna happen.

FUTURE CINDY (to herself): So I’m not the only one.

**Jimmy and Cindy look at each other in wide-eyed wonder and then her.**

JIMMY (whispering): What do you mean?

FUTURE CINDY (whispering): Jimmy and I have fought Nathan before, but this time it just feel like something very bad is going to happen.

**Slightly annoyed by the fact that both Cindy and her future self both feel like something bad is going to happen, he walks over to where his future self is standing, trying to convince Nathan to just surrender.**

FUTURE JIMMY: Just what did you take?

**Nathan pulls out a device.**

NATHAN (casually): Oh, just this.

FUTURE JIMMY: Oh no.

NATAN: Oh yes. I’ve found your immobilizer ray. Looks like I have the upper hand.

**Quick as lightening, he fires the ray, immobilizing both Future Jimmy and Present Jimmy.**

CINDY: I knew something was going to happen.

**As everyone else stands there in shock, Nathan makes his getaway with his hostages in tow. The sky grows darker as the sun drops below the horizon, and the wind picks up, giving a chill to the gentle spring evening.**

LIBBY (quietly): What do we do now?



Ooh, another cliffhanger (kinda). Okay, this chapter took me forever to write, so I hope everyone likes it! Please reply!!
