Mara, now that Nav is dead, can I steal him for some of my writing?  :P

NOBODY CAN STEAL NAV. :ph43r: HE IS MINE (and Pigquet's).

Also, I'm totally resurrecting his character as the male lead in my future novel.

Oh I forgot to add this in my original reaction to the new installment. I love how DJ still uses his watch to help him out. Gives me a small bit of hope that somewhere deep down there's still a little bit of the Jimmy we know and love in him.


Also, while I'm still upset that Nav is dead, I think it's very fitting that it would be DJ to the one to kill him. He's too great of a character (and too well written) to lose to one of DJ's minions. Part of me is still screaming, "WHY!? DJ WHY?!" but truth be told I would probably be pissed if it was a bot that killed him. He deserves a hero's death, and if he must be taken out of the story then it might as well be sacrificing himself to the antagonist in place of the woman he loves.

Ok I'm returning to my corner to mourn Nav a little longer... :'(

Part of me was scared that DJ was gonna find out that it was a fake death and kill April anyway. Or that he'll just shoot her once for the pleasure of it, even if he thought she was dead.

I was very sad that he didn't seem to recongnize April or ignored their past. :rolleyes: I wanted DJ to say something cruel and heartbreaking to her. Maybe he will later when she wakes up. ^_^

So, was the latest installment posted publicly yet? It apparently wasn't, cuz I couldn't find it anywhere on the site. I recently found out that it was PMed to someone, and that person was able to read it. Was anyone else, Mara? Cuz I wasn't. So, someone finally died in this fic? Poor Nav, but hey, at least it wasn't a future gang member or one of the present-day ones! THAT, in my opinion, is a fortunate turnout for them. I'm sorry Nav had to perish, but I think it had to be done in order for some other character to be saved(It was April who was saved, right, Mara? Cuz I never read the latest installment.). :ph43r:

I didn't realize how much Nav has grown on me these past few installments until I decided to look through the unfeatured TOSOT artwork in the extras section last night.

I'm going to miss Nav. I really am. He filled TOSOT with some much needed lulz.

@Emily: Yeah, it's publicly posted. If you go to the volume 5 page, and scroll all the way to the bottom, and then slowly scroll back up, you should find where the new chapter starts. It's called Hearts Storm, but it's a little harder to spot than some other chapters because it doesn't have an illustration.

So I was babysitting tonight and one of the video games that the kids were playing was called Super Stardust HD and it immediately reminded me of DJ's planet and his defense system. In the game you're one of a couple ships (one of which looks exactly like what I picture the Half Life looking like) and you're destroying enemies and meteors that are coming to attack your planet. There's a mesh looking net covering the whole planet.

I totally geeked out when I saw it and had to share!

Uh... I finally got to read it.


I'll miss Nav. And even if I never fangirled over him, it doesn't meant that I don't miss him much. One of the most epic characters ever. He definitley is my freakin' role model and I practically don't have role models. He couldn't have any better finale. We should be strong and positive even after such losses. He died in the best way possible, though, with AK, saving the Galaxy from Dictator, saving his girlfriend at the same time, encouraging Future Carl to stand up against Dictator, saying epical "good bye and love you" to his another love - AURORA, cracking jokes, winning hearts of fangirls of all the dimensions, exploding stuff, oozoing with epic and sheer win. That's NAV.

For the rest of the thing... I just wonder if Mara herself can ever write something more epic than this epic.


A technical comment. You may consider using something else instead of C4 This is not the best and appropriate compound for the mission. It doesn't work like in the movies. They may have used very small nukes there. Just saying as somebody who exploded stuff.

Now about Future Carl and DJ.

I disagree with everybody, probably except of Mara, that Future Carl was a coward there. Quite on contrary, I say that he is a very strong and brave individual. Beks may not worry, he is a really good character. First, he was avery kind persona and he stayed that way, not degradating. Then, what do you expect him to do? To tear his shirt and with a roar jump on DJ? DJ would just send him to have some rest to get over a psychological breakdown. FC stayed sane in all this and still cares about his friends, that's the best he could do.

I don't think that DJ was out of character giving Nav a chance to say his last words. Nav was really interesting for DJ as an outstanding individual, DJ enjoyed his behavior, probably found useful to study it. Not like he cared about Nav there.

Again, why is it that I fall for the unlikeliest guy in any story I like? In HP I loved Neville, and now I love FC. But that might mean that FC gets to "cut off the serpent's head" if you will.

I actually agree with you, Flank.

I mean Future Carl's the only one of the gang who's witnessed first hand the atrocities that DJ’s committed all in the sake of gaining power. Yeah Aurora’s seen them while in battle, but it’s completely different if you’re living with the person who’s committing them. Carl knows what Dictator Jimmy’s done to Sheen (and his other experiments), Aurora, and the galaxy as a whole.

I think the fact that Future Carl even stopped Nav and April and tried to send them away just shows how much that he's not under DJ's control. The very act of attempting to prevent their deaths was a betrayal to DJ. He was just as surprised as the other two (and the rest of us for that matter) to see the Dictator show up when he did. It most likely freaked him out more than he already was.

I would not want to be Future Carl if the kids don’t succeed in curing DJ.

Yes! Flank, you get him perfectly! Although, honestly, I'm glad that people are having such mixed reactions. It means it wasn't blatantly obvious one way or another.
