Imma bringin' mah notebook with me to Christchurch, so hopefully I'll make some headway on the next chapter while I'm there. I've got decent forward momentum right now, so I just need to keep going with it! **go go go**

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's commented/analyzed/reviewed the last 2 chapters. You know I love hearing from you guys more than anything else.

Random, but I had a dream last night where DJ was a visiting professor in my Maori class and was giving a lecture about sin and penitence (don't ask). Aaaaanyway, it got me thinking (and we may have pondered this before): TOSOT characters and the 7 Deadly Sins!

Here's how I've got it pinned:

Pride -> DJ
Wrath -> Aurora
Greed -> Nav (greed applies to amassing material goods, and Nav certainly does this with his constant stealing)
Lust -> FS (lol)
Sloth -> FC (sloth can also apply to inaction in the face of wrongdoing)
Envy -> Lee

The remaining sin is gluttony, and I'm not sure if this would fit either FL and April. Maybe April; she is a fan of all that weird alien food. Vanity is sometimes substituted for Pride (with a more physical, appearance-based connotation) and could work for FL, but I'm not sure. Greed could potentially work, too.

And now for the seven heavenly virtues:

Charity: FL
Kindess: Nav
Diligence: Aurora
Chastity: Lee (lol not by choice. Also, in a religious context this has a connotation of fulfilling duty and isn't just sexual)
Humility: FC (to an unhealthy degree)


Then there's temperance and patience(mercy), but I'm not sure if these fit with anyone. Most TOSOT characters are warlike or embittered and aren't exactly known for their cardinal virtues

Hmm, I've always thought FL made a good representation of temperance and patience IMO. Maybe you could put her for both Charity/Mercy? I dunno.

Really cool idea, Mara! It shows how deep and complex your characters are when you can literally match their personalities up with various virtues and vices. Those almost all on target!

I guess it's because April comes from a society where wrath and violence are glorified. Sin is a transgression, a breach of morality and the rules of society; April is following her culture's standards of conduct. Perhaps her people might consider her a traitor for hanging with a human and dating a Numerian...who knows.

Also @Pig: I'm gonna be a whiny brat and say that I have nothing to do tomorrow and want to read your uber-analysis before I leave for my week-long backpacking trip.

I'd love to see something about when NAV first met Aurora when she was 15, after she blew up his ship and then took him prisoner, and then they got to know eachother (the story he told the kids in 'Six Stars at Twilight') Or, even later when he first met April and their first impressions.

Strangely enough, I began writing about those things in a story once that I called "A Meeting of Equals". However, I'd extend something like that into a mini-series of oneshots. That wouldn't really be an issue, and I think it'd be fun to write. Great suggestion

If you want a REALLY challenging one, you should write something horror-ish from FS's point of view.

Tempting...tempting...I will definitely consider this.

I eventually want to collect all of Jessi's TOSOT oneshots, because I think they're the work of an extremely dedicated and creative fan. I love them! Even if I don't love the circumstance and characters always, I love how well she tries to put old happenings in their perspective. They're beyond clever! So yes, do more! Any more!

-takes a bow- Why thank you, Athena. It means a lot to hear you say that. Unfortunately, that would be a bit of a task to undertake. Most of the oneshots exist on the old forums, and unless Mara or Alex can access and retrieve them, I'm afraid they're lost. I would often sit and type on the topic without writing any other drafts on Microsoft Word or anything. And my computer has experienced a crash or two, plus a new hard drive, so even the ones that I DID save are gone. We'll have to see what we can do about that...

Hey, did you not SEE how she defended Aurora AND FS in the past chapters?? Sure, she dresses like a "skank", but ya gotta look past all that and admire her qualities. She definitely DOES have charity, not to mention patience. I like her for who she is, not what she wears. And she stuck by Aurora throughout most of this fic and tolerated the antics of some of the kids(meaning younger Sheen and younger Carl) with great ease that entire time. I admire those qualities in FL. You, of all people, should understand that. lol Nevertheless, I still respect your opinions on her, Athena.

LOL, Emily, Athena's just a pain in the arse Most of us admire FL's abundant positive qualities...If you'll pardon the analogy, Future Libby provides the warm, squishy center to TOSOT, a story that would otherwise be pretty cold and devoid of gentleness. And it should be noted that the only reason she dresses like "a skank" is because I greatly enjoy drawing scantily clad women .
