For a show that exists on the foundation of running jokes, it is inspiring. This show knows how to end well. That last couple episodes were all double or quadruple length, resolved any remaining plot elements, and were generally epic episodes.

Finally caught up with B99 and Elementary. Binge watched Stranger Things and I loved it. Now I need to catch up on Once Upon a Time.
Latest discoveries: Lucifer, The Good Place, Superstore, Timeless (although I'm not fully committed to this one yet)
Excited for: Gilmore Girls: Netflix, A Series of Unfortunate Events: Netflix, The Crown: Netflix
I saw Miss Peregrine's House for Peculiar Children, SIGH. It was so different then the book. Like the last fourty five minutes different.

I don't think I have heard of B99. I lost track of what was going on in Elementary sometime in season 2. My brother and my mother watch Stranger Things, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. I stopped watching Once Upon a Time sometime in season 3 and always intended to go back.

Only saw the first episode of Lucifer, but it was pretty good. I have been loving The Good Place.
Kristen Bell has been awesome as always.

I never read the books, but I did watch the movie. I was a bit confused on the second half and just assumed it would make more sense in the book. I think Horace was my favourite. His weird obsession with clothes.

I saw Rocky for the first time at the library today.
That movie is way too freakin' cute to be about boxing!

Just got back from Moana.
The visuals were absolutely stunning - one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful, Disney films out there. However, with one exception, I thought the music was subpar. The bits that were in Tokelauan (the Polynesian language used in the movie) sounded great, but the English lyrics were pretty weak. Moana was a solid protagonist: driven and heroic, and I loved her relationship with her grandmother. I wasn't really a fan of Maui, though, and I don't think their friendship was enough to carry the story.

That's kind of surprising to me! At least the bit about the songs, because Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote some of them. That's a disappointment!

It might just be me, but some of the lyrics seemed really repetitive. I mean, look at this stanza (from the best song in the film):
I know everybody on this island
Seems so happy on this island
Everything is by design
I know everybody on this island
Has a role on this island
So maybe I could roll with mine
Like...how many times can you use the word "island" in one stanza? That kind of lyrical laziness drives me crazy.

Well, before you get too disappointed, the main song (Moana's theme) and its two reprises are VERY good, so...

Today's muse was Danny Phantom... Talk about cheesy, but I love it. It's reminiscent of early comic book heroes, and since it's made by the same people who made fairly odd parents, it's full of random humor and jokes that probably only an older audience appreciates. Like some suggestive joking and a crap ton of references. Like I had never noticed that the evil teacher, wherever he "cursed", he actually just said the title of a classic book. Then there's puns of older pop culture (I.e. "The ghost writer" instead of "the ghost Rider"), etc... Also I keep hearing Carl wheezer's voice as different characters... He did a lot of voice acting for Nickelodeon it seems. XD

On the good side, every other line from K2S0 was hilarious.

I saw Rogue One yesterday. I did not like the Vader scene. I have never really liked Vader. Even in the originals, he was always very boring. I don't really feel like this movie told us much about the characters.
On the good side, every other line from K2S0 was hilarious.
I saw the film opening night. I loved K2S0, but I agree about the rest of the cast. I wasn't particularly invested in any of them, and I thought Galen Erso's actor was just...so unconvincing. The father-daughter relationship (around which so much of the story hinged) was completely bland in my opinion. Overall I wasn't crazy about the movie, sadly ![]()
