I saw finally saw La La Land in theaters yesterday afternoon.
It totally deserved that Best Picture award for the entire two minutes it had won. ![]()
In all seriousness, I loved it.

Saw The Pink Panther (1963) on Monday.
I didn't know what the hell was going on, but the librarian showed this short before the movie, which I enjoyed.

Went and saw Beauty and the Beast last night! I enjoyed it quite a bit more than I thought I would.
 Nothing can be the original.
There were new things in this that I appreciated and new things that were kind of disappointing.
Emma Watson's singing voice was kinda meh for me, as was Emma Thompson's. But it did translate better on screen then it does just in the soundtrack.
There were notes of 'Home' from the Broadway version when Belle walks into her room. I found myself smiling at that. I really liked Gaston scene, and Belle's dress while sort of flat in the previews did look better on screen. The romance in this is pretty sweet and fleshed out. The two interact a tiny bit more than they do in the first film.
The scenery was gorgeous, and I thought the sets were nice as well. I liked most of the new songs. Days in the Sun was orchestrated beautifully, and Gaston had a fun dance scene. Evermore was heartbreaking.
During Belle: Reprise when she sings about wanting adventure in the great wide somewhere, I teared up a little. When I saw that library, I happily sighed.
For the most part, I had a pretty positive response! I'm looking forward to seeing it again with Micah.

Tim and I just got caught up on Westworld. Holy hellllll that's a good show. Really messes with your mind, and the first season is only ten episodes (they're all an hour long, though, so it's a time commitment anyway. It took us so long to watch through because we usually were only able to watch it at night during/after dinner when I was usually too tired to focus on the plot and needed to get ready for bed if I was working the next day.
Watch it. Sooooo good.

The Lego Batman Movie = f*cking hilarious. I am all in favor of them continuing to make these lego parody movies.

Saw The BFG, based on the Roald Dahl book.
It was really good and pretty charming. I wasn't that impressed with it at first, but it captured me after awhile. Recommend.

Ok, I gave in and watched 13 reasons why. Dark, graphic, and hard hitting. It broke my heart and scared me.

I saw Take Me Out to the Ball Game on Monday. The 1949 musical starring Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly.
...
Okay, they were originally supposed to show 2 hours of classic Daffy Duck shorts at the library, but at the last minute changed it to this film, and by the time I got there it would've been too rude to leave since I was the only one who showed up.
At least it wasn't a total bore.
But yeah, old musicals are odd.

Binge-watched Season 5 of Samurai Jack, now that the final episode's aired.
I never watched the earlier seasons, but given that Season 5 takes place 50 years later, I don't think that's too much of an issue.
I enjoyed the first 9 episodes, and most of the last episode, but the ending spoiled it for me.
I won't spoil the ending here, but seriously, I was not happy with it.

So I binged watched the entire first season of Voltron: Legendary Defender on Wednesday (in addition to working for six hours very early in the day, baking a loaf of bread, baking an apple/pear crisp, taking out the recycling, washing three loads of dishes, and folding a load of laundry...it was an unusually productive day).
It was actually really good. Like, I'd heard that it was good. It's pretty popular on Tumblr and I used to see a lot of gifs from it on my dash last summer. But when I mentioned wanting to check it out, my boyfriend was like "That cheesy merch-driven 80s cartoon????" and I got really put off. But I still put it on my watch list once we got Netflix in December and I decided, since he was out of state on a business trip on Wednesday, that I'd give the first episode a try.
And that turned into me watching the entire season in two or three sittings. Except for the first episode (which, like Avatar, was a two-parter in one and an hour long), the episodes were only 23 minutes and there were only eleven total for the season. And I actually liked it a lot. It's produced by Dreamworks, and I can really see it in the dialogue. The inter-character dialogue is really on point. I'd say the dialogue is on point with Dragons: Race to the Edge (which I will wax poetic about for love for if ever given the opportunity). The characters just mesh really well together. The dialogue is snappy and really funny. And one of the characters has one of the best portrayals of PTSD I've seen in television. And the animation, with a couple of exceptions (the giant mecha suit formation sequence and the animation of the lions in general) is really well done as well. The backgrounds are beautiful.
Definitely recommend.

Keither and Lance (red and blue) were only on screen together for like three minutes by the time I started shipping them. They seem to be the fan preferred ship, though I haven't seen any actual canon hinting of it yet (about 1/3 through season 2 as of now).
