He's one of my favorites too, Carl's my least favorite so it will be like coughing up a hair ball making that topic no offense to Carl fans out there. I always have a hard time typing about him, is this ok to say here? I'll still make a Carl topic so Carl fans can talk about him, I do respect his fans too

Laura took the words right out of my mouth. Cindy is my all time favorite animated female charecter. I honestly don't think she is as bad as people say she is. Its not like she never showed her soft side, or that she has a heart. Cindy has showed plenty of times that she is actually a very careing person.

I guess some people just don't like characters like Helga or Cindy for the attitudes they give Jimmy or Arnold. Helga was my favorite character on Hey Arnold and I honestly thought Cindy got better as a character in season three.

Yeah Cindy really showed her soft side alot in season three. And the flaws in the characters make the show what it is.

I mean just try to imagine the show without Cindy's mean side, Carl's creepy obsession with Jimmy's mom, Sheen's randomness and complete obsession with Ultralord, Hugh's duck/pie obsession and the downright nastyness of the assorted villains. The show would just leave you feeling like .

Duuuuude Laura, that was the most epic summation of Cindy that mine eyes have e'er beheld. I can't BELIEVE I didn't reply to this earlier. I love the description of Cindy as a pebble in Jimmy's shoe...an excellent metaphor

You all know I adore Cindy, but the only thing that prevents her from reaching Helga status in my heart is that she's an analytical and competitive scientist, not a tortured artist and poet. To me, Helga's inner torment made her behavior more understandable, acceptable, and tragic. We just don't have the kind of insight into Cindy's character that we had into Helga's. We don't know as much about what's going on in her home life (although we see glimmers), and we don't really witness how much inner conflict she has to deal with.

Cindy is almost never a sympathetic character, which is both good and bad - good because her caustic wit and sudden anger are hilarious and spice up the show, and bad because she can sometimes come off as plain callous and cruel, at which point we as viewers would like to see some sort of deeper rationale behind the behaviors (a Freudian excuse, if you will...and no, jealousy doesn't count).

Anyway, I could probably write more, but it's 4:30 am and I still have like 30 notecards to memorize for my final tomorrow.

Of course, she would deny it, but I think she might be looking for an excuse to be mean to Jimmy because she's afraid of what would happen if she wasn't on her gaurd all the time...

Just a thought. Anyway, enough of my silly stupidity.

She doesn't really hurt him when she does that to him; just annoys him. That's just to cover up her MONDO crush on him, and to a lesser extent, for Jimmy to cover up his feelings for Cindy. lol Only the villains TRULY want to hurt them physically. Cindy only wants to crush his pride, which is a lot for her to handle since he has such a big ego. haha

Urvy, your decision is wholly respectable, but could you please not just go and say Cindy is abusive?? Considering I'm a die-hard Cindy fan, it's kind-of an insult. I know you don't mean it that way, but could you please not say that again? Thank you.

Sorry, it's just I have a major gripe with ther character due to the fact that the whole bully girl falling for boy genius thing is cliche and overused.

Towards the end of the series, she does soften towards him. Not to the point where she stops being the 'bully' but you can see her moving in that direction. And Jimmy definently holds in his own in the love/hate relationship. Sometimes being just as mean as her.
