reviving!
Cindy is my second favorite character in the series ( sorry, but NO ONE beats Sheen, lol). She's sassy and awesome, with a heart of gold. she's that perfect mix of sweet and sour, and I LOVEE those type of characters.
I used to dislike her so much when I first started watching the show, but that was only because I was on Jimmy's side about everything . (even when I KNEW he was wrong about something, which is why I wouldn't watch WLK for a long time...)
But anyways, I overall love her. she's spunky, smart, athletic, and doesn't let ANYONE get in her way.

I would have loved to see where they took her character in future seasons. Because even by the end of the show, she had grown quite a bit.

I love how Cindy could have quite a bad temper, and Libby was there to balance her out. I think Cindy had a lot of character development throughout the series, and I wish we got to see more of her home life.

My theory is that, after the events of “Love Potionâ€, the penultimate season 1 episode, somehow word got spread that she went on a date with Jimmy and then the other girls began to ostracize her, in spite of the fact that she is the one that built up Jimmy as such a bullying target to begin with.
Does anyone agree with me here?
EDIT: I don’t care what Keith Alcorn says I still think Jimmy’s the one who moved to Retroville, as Cindy clearly has the more deep-seated hatred of him than the other way around - and it would explain why the other kids always sided with Cindy in early episodes as well as the whole class’s dislike of him in “Normal Boyâ€

Wait...when did Keith Alcorn say that Cindy was the one who moved to Retroville? Because I agree it makes more sense that Jimmy did.

I tried friending him like over a year ago on FB with no response. Guess he's not really active on there anymore.

Okay first off, love and respect Keith and the makers of this show, but Jimmy definitely is the one who moved to Retroville in my mind and that's always been the case! It simply explains more of Cindy's anger towards him if this is true.
Cindy is my favorite character: not only is she wicked smart, she's also a hard worker, and extremely witty. She and Jimmy make such a good pair precisely because she is the ONLY one in the whole damn town capable of challenging him and telling him when he's wrong (a la WLK). She is the only one who can bring him down five notches, and this is sorely needed IMO because Jimmy can be overly sensitive, impulsive, and selfish at times.
Living in his shadow is probably not easy; she can never beat a natural genius. But what I love about her is that sometimes, she does beat him. She successfully argues her case as to why he should be banned from the science fair. She pilots the Oozy Scab to the shipwreck. She gives better class presentations. Heck, King of Mars and some of the other episodes (I'm thinking of the one where she cites some paper to upstage him) seem to portray her as close as he's ever going to get (at least in this town) to someone on the same level as him.
That being said, sometimes she's exceptionally cruel, petty, and jealous. I buy into the whole theory about her bad home life, so I think that's the root of her abrasiveness.
I remember in the first year of grad school, I had a huge crush on someone I also disliked and kind of thought of as an academic rival, and it was a very complicated situation to be in because you both admire the person and can't stand them at the same time, and it drives you nuts. So I sympathize with her. That's my two cents!

Cindy, babe, you're looking for a personal slave here, not a valentine, but she slayed so, I'm just gonna brush that off ![]()

One of the things I've occasionally thought about the last few years is the idea of Jimmy vs Cindy in terms of intelligence. I always use to write off that question - Of course, Jimmy's smarter.
However, I think I've kind of changed my mind on that. I mean, of course, the question of "who is smarter" is a bit vague, as it's not as simple as that. That said, I feel like Cindy is much more... balanced in her smarts than Jimmy is (if that's the right word).
Like, I think Jimmy is BRILLIANT in specific areas (ie, science, math, etc), but Cindy is very smart across pretty much all areas. She may not be on the same level as Jimmy in his areas of expertise, but she is still really smart in those areas. Whereas, outside of his area of expertise, I would say Cindy is considerably smarter than him, and the gap between them is wider than in the areas where Jimmy is smarter.
It was difficult figuring out how to word that... I hope it made sense, lol.

I always see it as Jimmy being the most book smart with Cindy being the most street smart. I understood as I grew that those were very different skillset.
