Take down the biggest crime syndicates, kill or re-program the most evil members of the society, improve the widespread poverty, start a grass-roots type movement to get the locals involved in trying to fix their own problems... you know, social justice type stuff After they improve things on that planet, they'll probably hop from world to world and try to cure some of the worst diseases afflicting the various populations. After that, not sure...

1- What the hell happen between Aurora and DJ when she was his prisoner? 'Only' that kiss?

I always kind of figured that he injected her with some kind of chemical that made her like whatever torture methods he was employing... you know, just to up the mindf*ck quotient and to really pile on the guilt after the fact. Unfortunately for him, I think he was probably too clever for his own good. He went one step too far, and the emotional fallout ended up affecting him as well, giving him nightmares and prompting him to get her off the base as soon as possible.

2- what was the concession Aurora was going to ask before the kids interrupted her and DJ?

THAT was singlehandedly the most EPIC and MIND-BLOWING fic I've EVER read, Mara!! I'm SO glad I read it, and I am eternally in your debt for it... *bows*

Also, I know it's extremely early to be asking this, but will you not be writing any more JN fan fiction after this?

I don't think there's any way I can top TOSOT, so no I promised Jessi I would write my own version of the CarlXLaudya meeting once she finished, so there is always that.

Otherwise, it's original fiction all the way!

*sigh* Maaaaaaaaaannnnn............... I was hoping you'd do more of it, but it wouldn't necessarily have to top TOSOT...I was just hoping you'd write anything JN, and I'd have TOTALLY read it and loved it no matter what it was! Just saddens me a bit in knowing you've no plans for that type of fanfiction in the future... *sigh*

Great ending, Mara.

i really like how you amped up the tension between Aurora and FJ in the first of the chapters...it was basically the two of them just trying to one-up the other over the whole conversation. I wasn't expecting that FJ would try to split up with Aurora, so that was a nice touch, especially since she managed to convince him to stay by saying that being with her would constitute her "revenge". Very clever, Aurora.
I especially loved how Aurora quoted his same words back to him: AURORA: Now, when you sit alone in a room, whether you stare blankly ahead or shut your eyes, it’ll be my face that you see. I'll be in the air you breathe and the water you drink. Like the suit you wear, I'll be the one ingrained into your skin. How's that for poetic justice, my self-professed raison d’être? Classic!

I had to google raison d'etre (=reason for existence), but it's funny, because he is kind of her reason for being. Their whole dialogue was really funny because they're so snarky to each other. The "went to the same charm school" bit cracked me up.

Chapter 47 was a nice way to bring the kids back to Retroville. Sheen had some funny lines (so did Butch) and I really like the sort of "anti-moral-of-the-story" ending you worked up. It's true, they never seem to learn from their adventrues! Also, i want a boy to ask me over for hot chocolate and a discussion of the first amendment lol.

The epilogue was the kind of bittersweet i like in an ending. Sad, but also kind of hopeful in a way too. Aurora may have a hard time being in the same room with him now, but i think the two of them will come to depend on another alot and really like each other

Great fanfic, Mara, one of the best! I hope you write a book someday soon i will buy it

So it's come to this...my last review for TOSOT. I have been anxiously waiting for this day. I did read the chapter yesterday when you posted it. But I had to stop midway so I can watch the new ep of The Looney Tunes Show. But I had just re-read to chapters and I am ready to go.
LIBBY: Look, I’m runnin’ real low on patience here. We all know you’ve figured out a genius solution, so just save-the-drama-for-yo-mama and tell us what it is! I wanna go home!
FUTURE JIMMY: (frowning) I must make a note to eradicate that phrase from existence once you’re gone. I think the entire universe would benefit from its absence.
I couldn't have said that better than FJ. LOL! I love it!

I never thought the outcome to TOSOT would be the kids going back in time to before Jimmy used the Triangle. But once FJ explained it, it all makes sense and seems fitting in a weird way. But I agree that thinking about all the other universes with different outcomes makes me crazy, but I can't help it! It is all so interesting!

I'll admit it. I went "Awww!" when the kids said goodbye to Aurora. I especially loved all the comments they gave her before giving her a hug. And Aurora's reaction to it was priceless! Shows the devil can have a heart....

When Sheen suggested that FJ and Aurora make sandcastles out of their ashes, it was pretty funny. But when them desintergrating actually happened...it was kinda disturbing.

Aurora and Future Jimmy's conversation was amusing to read. Aurora really seems to go horny when she's alone with Future Jimmy. I especially liked how they revived their friendship contract and the terms they set down.

You'd think Nav would've been the actual first one who threatened Aurora with charm.

It was sweet of Future Jimmy to do that for Aurora as well as her "thanks" to him. It's nice to get at least once genuine romantic moment between them.

Return to the classic show and tell chapter.

Been a while since I've seen Butch acting like his old bullying self.

Jimmy defending his two best friends from Butch, and Cindy defending Jimmy from Butch was all too sweet. As well as their compliments to each other until Butch interuppted- talk about moment killer.

I can see why Sheen is upset, they've been in another universe for days and missed a bunch school...now they have to re-take it.

I don't blame Libby wanting to do that. If all that happened to me, that's the first thing I would do once I got home.

Talk about Aesop Amnesia, guess things really will go back to the way they were now that they're back as Jimmy put it; "Tomorrow I'll go right back to making crazy inventions, and in no time at all one of them will malfunction horribly, inviting mayhem and peril on the whole town, and then we'll be right back where we started. You'll get all bent out of shape and call me a hundred names, and I'll scramble to find a solution, and things will get really hairy for awhile, but then in the nick of time we'll find a way out of it. Just like we always do."
"And when that happens, I'll go right back to hating you as much as I ever have."
Though I'm actually glad for that. They learned a huge lesson about how violence and revenge is never the answer. Don't rub it in the story too much.

Though Jimmy inviting Cindy over to his lab for some special alone time. I'll take that!
JIMMY: You know, Cindy – the Candy Bar isn't the only place that serves dessert. If you'd care to stop by tonight, say, for a cup of a hot chocolate, my lab has open hours from six to eight. We can debrief on the last couple of days, then exercise our first amendment rights while getting buzzed on sugar.
CINDY: Sounds unimaginably dull. Will I be able to access the restricted areas of your lab?
JIMMY: Over my dehydrated, lifeless corpse.
CINDY: I'm there.


The epilogue was nice as well.

I liked the landlord's comment about Aurora while she was diguised as a "Numurrian wummun"

Is that their new base for when they start doing their "good deeds" for the galaxy? I hope not...

The last bit kinda reminded me of the end for Final Fantasy X for some reason. When all of Aurora's memories of her past flash into her mind. Which I think is the perfect way to end it as well as her last line.

I too have some questions about the end as well to get a Word of God answer, but I'll have to get back to you once I've summed up all I want to ask, so look out for me.


I deeply applaud your work on this story, Mara. It took 5 years in the making, but it was worth it. This was one of the first fanfics I ever read and it remains one of my favorites. Beautifully written and truely a great piece of work. If you're proud of yourself, good, you should be. Thank you for the wild ride and excitement, and introducing such unforgettable characters and elements that will definitely give you a hand in the future of writiing and inspiring you and others who dream of becoming a writer someday too.

I love it an absolutely incredible finish. And I love the fact that you left the end of the epilogue pretty open so that we can decide for ourselves what happens to them.

Beautiful ending to this story.

The epilogue is definitely one of my favorite epilogues. It's tone matched the rest of the story, which is some thing that author tend to fall short on. It's actually a big pet peeve of mine when authors don't match the epilogue to the timbre of the story. It's bittersweetness left me sad with a tinge of hopefulness. Mara thank you for writing something this beautiful, and sticking with it through the years. I honestly would not have made it to IDOJ and made friends with all you lovely people without TOSOT being in my life.

I only started reading this at te begining of the summer when i happened to, be sheer chance, stumble upon IDOJ. But, I must say that this is like THEE greatest story I've like ever read. Mara, you're truely talented and I REALLY hope-no pray- that you get your future stories out there!! I really LOOVEE TOSOT and there are many adjectives I want to use to describe it, but I guess ill just have to make one up! Its superawesomelyamazinglyfantasticallybeast!! And finally, TOSOT. NEEDS. Wait...you've only been working on this for five years? I though it was longer than that. (TWSS ) Wow. That means I've been involved in reading TOSOT in its random updates for more than half the time you've been writing it. DAMN I'M OLD.













Now that I think about it, I still have yet to finish chapter two of my fanfic I started in June. I should probably get on to writing that....in December.
