Just saw an episode of The Walking Dead -
meh. I'm not that impressed. I personally found the video game more exciting, but maybe that's just me.
I've seen the whole show up 'til now. Personally, I think it's overrated.

Re-watched Warm Bodies again last night. It's so weird that a zombie romcom has become one of my all-time fave comfort movies. I seriously love it and will watch it anytime - even though pretty much nothing about the film makes any logical sense. Nick Hoult is just so damn endearing and hilarious as R that it doesn't matter.

Loved that movie.

OMG Warm Bodies. I should watch that again--I do own it. It's great. My roommates and I watched it for roomie movie night sometime last semester and died. It's so funny.

Felt well enough today to go see the new Disney movie, Big Hero 6.

Fantastic film - the setting designs in particular were phenomenal. Definitely recommend it!

I'm seeing that sometime this week/next weekend with my roommates!
I'm so excited.

Watched The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance today (Westerns on Thanksgiving = our new family tradition).

What a fantastic movie! So well acted and written. Even though it's a Western, it had that old-school Citizen Kane vibe, rather than the shoot-em-up feel of many of its genre cohorts. Definitely recommended ![]()

Just saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. I liked it more than I expected too, given the mixed reception.
Yeah, there wasn't much action in it, but I didn't really mind that - I liked the interactions between the characters, and seeing the strategy involved in how the rebels were fighting, and using Katniss as a symbol.
From what I remember of the book, it follows it pretty closely.
The best thing about the movie though, is the acting.
Jennifer Lawrence is great as always. Both she and Josh Hutcherson express the fear and horror of their situation well, and she also did a good job in the less... horrific scenes, like when she has to portray her character as a bad actress.
Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks are both wonderful, and give the movie the closest things to light-hearted moments it has.
I love Natalie Dormer, and she was great in this... but I have to say, she can't do an American accent very well...
Julianne Moore (who I'm not hugely familiar with) did a good job as President Coin, playing a stern, uptight leader, as well as something of an advisor to Katniss.
Even Liam Hemsworth was... not that bad in this...
And of course, there was the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman... He was just awesome in this. It was a bit weird, and very sad, seeing him in it though...

Saw Mockingjay Part 1 today...and I agree with Malcolm. I don't think the film deserves the criticism it's been getting. Jennifer Lawrence is freakin' amazing. I could watch her watch paint dry and I would still be entertained.
God I love her.

I also think Josh Hutcherson did a fantastic job portraying a haggard and tortured Peeta...the scene where he snapped and started choking Katniss was particularly intense. And of course Haymitch and Effie made me lol

Plus, it's building up to the next one that is going to be super intense and super battle filled. TBH I appreciated that not every scene was death and destruction.. This was a different type of warfare. More psychological- which I love.

Just saw Home Alone for the first time (lol, yeah I know...)
It was... eh.
I certainly didn't dislike it by any means. There were several things about it I liked.
The burglars were hilarious - Every scene involving them cracked me up (especially the scene where Kevin scares them away with the movie clip).
It was also fun seeing all the traps Kevin left for the burglars (though seeing someone (even a movie character) get stabbed in the foot really makes me shake).
I also liked the Old Man Marley character, and the scene with him at the very end came close to making me tear up.
On the other hand, there were some things that really brought the movie down for me, sadly...
The mother just annoyed me way too much, with her terrible parenting, and her massive freakouts later. And after all she did... all it takes is "I'm sorry?" yeah, no, I think if it were me, I'd want at least a little more than that.
I was also hoping we'd see more of the rest of the family acknowledge what they did...
Also, Culkin's acting made me cringe. It was just a little more than I could bear.
All in all... Not a bad movie. But I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would.

Its okay, I really dislike Home Alone, too.
Not to be mistaken for Home Alone 2, which is automatically better due to the inclusion of Tim Curry. ![]()
But yeah, I can't ever really see this one as a "Christmas classic" or even an enjoyable movie.
The family is despicable (especially the mother, thank you so much for saying it), the characters are annoying, the plot is far too implausible, the moral really pisses me off, and honestly, I don't find the slapstick with the burglars that funny. A few of their lines are funny, but the traps and slapstick goes on way too long and just isn't my sense of humor.
Aside from some touching moments (like the old man talking to Kevin at church) and a good premise, I don't think just the fact that its become famous as a "Christmas classic" makes it a good movie. I personally can't stand it.
(In case you can't tell, I love bitching about this movie with those who agree with me, lol.)

Ha ha. Yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you're saying here (aside from the slapstick - I personally found it (and the burglars in general) hilarious).
The family really was the worst part of he movie. They were just far too mean-spirited for my taste, and there was not nearly enough of a payoff for their behavior.
And the scenes with the old man were the best parts of the movie.
I don't really dislike the movie that much. I was more just disappointed, because I had heard how good it was from several people, including my brother. It's very rare that he likes a movie that I don't (if we disagree on a movie, it's usually the other way around).
Of course, I only just saw it, so these are first impressions. Maybe in time, either I'll come to really dislike it, or it'll grow on me.
Though yeah, I certainly can't think of this as a great Christmas Special.
PS. Tim Curry's in the second one??
I may have to give that one a try then...

I agree with Athena about liking the second one better (I just find it funnier...even if critics generally consider it the lesser of the two films. F*ck the critics). I think there is a huge nostalgia factor involved with both movies, though. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't love them like I do if I hadn't grown up watching them with my dad and joking about them all the time.
P.S. I love the pigeon lady from the Home Alone II. I want a benevolent, bird-loving homeless woman to watch over me ![]()

OK, I just saw the second one. It was more or less a rehash of the first, but I enjoyed it a lot more. The burglars and slapstick were still hilarious (though admittedly, by the end I was STARTING to think "OK, how long is this gonna go..."), but it was Tim Curry and (surprisingly) Rob Schneider who made me laugh the most. I kinda wish they had been in it more.
And yeah, the bird lady was cool.
She and Mr. Duncan provided some nice touching moments to go with the humour and slapstick.
Unfortunately, I had the same problems with this movie as I did with the first one. Culkin's acting was still cringe-worthy, and the family was still terrible...
However, it had more of the stuff I DID like from the first one than the first one did.

I never liked either of those movies. Even growing up with them, I thought they were terrible. We didn't watch them very often in my house because no one particularly liked them
