I really enjoyed the first episode. Was thrilled to see Asami again, and had a lot of fun revisiting the entire cast. Tenzin is freaking adorable, especially with his siblings.

 

Obviously we aren't meant to trust the uncle dude, but by the second episode I was getting annoyed at how blatant that was and how no one in the show picked up on it. Episode 2 was pretty good, but since it had fewer character moments, I didn't enjoy it as much. Overall, though, I'm feeling more positive about Book 2 than I had felt before seeing any of it. So I'm hoping the positive trend continues.

I've still got reservations about the twins. I see what they're trying to do with them, but I feel like they're trying too hard. Maybe they'll grow on me more as the show goes on. They just feel forced to me right now, as far as the writing goes. Kind of like how Bolin started out as a forced replacement for Sokka, they're an odd replacement for Mai that just isn't working for me yet.

ESKA WAS MY FAVORITE PART. She was weirdly hilarious. Her and her brother's exaggerated monotone voices completely killed me.

And honestly, I didn't think they made the whole "don't trust the uncle" all that blatant. I guessed it, mostly because of the animosity between him and Tonraq, but for the most part, his dialogue and attitude seemed to be like he genuinely wanted to help Korra. I think they did a pretty good job.

Well, on the plus side...
Unulaq seems like an interesting villain - I think he believes everything he's saying, and he doesn't really have malicious intent towards anyone (at least so far). I think he truly does want to unite their tribes (though, whether they like it or not). He's a villain who isn't evil, which is interesting...
The characters of Eska and Desna cracked me up - they were great! And I still enjoy Tenzin and his family. I'm also liking Mako better than I did in the first season.

On the downside...
I found Korra really irritating. She came across as whiny and ungrateful. I did find her frustrating at parts in the first season, but I never disliked her... I am starting to now though... Hopefully she improves.
Plus, where are Lin and Iroh??

Overall, I thought this was a good start, even if I'm having some issues with the main character... I'm curious to see where it goes, and I'm interested in seeing more spirits.

And just in case random people are lurking and have not seen episode 3...

It really surprised me when I saw Aang's children discussing their not-so-perfect childhoods. That is the kind of stuff that would be in fanfiction and fandom essays and whatnot. Not actual canon.  

 

Actually, now that I think of it, there's been a focus on family drama in general, with Korra's whole subplot. Count me impressed.

Yeah, that's a pretty awesome gif.

 

I'm liking book 2 so far, as well. I'm hoping it won't crash and have to pull itself back up and then crash again like in book 1. That'd make me sad.

And I agree. I was also surprised to see Tenzin, Bumi, and Kya discuss their childhood and to see the old resentments pop up. It made me kinda sad, actually, to find out that Aang favored Tenzin. I get why, them being the only two airbenders and all, but I'm disappointed that Aang played favorites with his kids. It makes me wonder if Katara favored Kya because of her being a waterbender. I don't see that as having been the case, but then again I didn't expect Aang to be so obvious with favoritism.

 

And did it bother anyone else that we didn't find Ikki at the end of the episode? I know it's a two-parter, but she's been absent this whole time and it's kinda a big deal, being that she's seven and whatnot, and then after Bumi and Kya go away and leave Tenzin by the waterfall, we don't see anything else of that B plot.

Especially with evil uncle's plan getting revealed already so we don't have to drag out that "he's secretly evil" thing anymore, which had bothered me earlier. Also, I hope they really do escape the creepy twins, not just for Bolin's sake. The more they're around, the more I can't stand them. They're not funny, their voice acting is awkward, and the lines they're given are so forced. I'm not amused at all by that subplot or those characters and I want them gone. Otherwise, this show is doing well and it's on its way to beating out season 1 for me.

Though unlike you, I love the twins. I think they're hilarious. I literally LOL every single time they're on screen. I think that their voice acting is awkward on purpose. They're anti-social and rarely interact with anyone outside of their upbringing, which is why they're so weird. That's my theory, anyway.
