Avatar: The Legend of Korra
From what I've gathered, it seems like this is gonna be a spin off in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe 100 years in the future with flashbacks of the original characters. My best guess is that Korra is the name of the Avatar in this future. If that is the case, then she (i think its a she) is from the Water Tribe, as that is the next bender in the Avatar cycle. According to Wikipedia, it's gonna be on Nick in 2010/2011, which isn't very helpful I admit, but it's a time frame.
Apparently, the creators of the original series, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are on board with this. More info about the show should be available at Comic-Con 2010 from July 22-25 in San Diego.
Thoughts?

Ok, speculation time. I've been digging around my head trying to deduce what compelled Nick to make a whole new series in the Avatar universe after basically dropping it after the original series ended. According to Wikipedia, they're not even doing reruns, though the Nicktoons channel is. (also, semi-bad news for Planet Sheen: it seems like it will also get a slot on the Nicktoons channel, which bodes ill for the show. New shows going to the 'Nicktoons recycle channel' don't do well on the chopping block later on.) My best guess is that the creators wanted to fix the fans deprivation and create a new series, and Nick let them cause they realized they dropped quite a golden ball when they let Avatar go for a few years, especially when news of a feature-length movie came to them.
Ok, so speculations about the show content: I still think that Korra is the name of the Avatar in this time, but even if it's not, that's obviously the main character's name. So what's the premise for the show? Is it gonna be a 'hero's journey' type show like the original series, or is it gonna be centered around one Nation of the world? I don't think they can get away with another "learn the elements before this time or we'll all die" plot, so what could it be? "Legend of Korra" sounds epic enough, so is there gonna be some new evil 100 years in the future that needs getting rid of? That sounds like the most likely plot in my mind.
Am I speculation way too much way too early on?

I'm psyched. If it has some of the same creative power behind it that the first one had, I'm sure they'll whip up something fun.
Yin's vote (I just made him watch the entire series) is that it centers around Koala-Sheep. He also think Korra sounds like an evil name, so he's hoping maybe there will be a dastardly Koala-Sheep.

The Future, new Avatar is kid of Aang and Katara.
Zuko's kid is there. Sokka and Suki's Or Tophs and Sokkas whatevers.
Some one has to give Toph an off spring, she's too awesome to not have one come on.
This will be after the Fire Nation has died out and every one doesn't know about it except for this Generations childeren of the main characters. There given some horrible news about some thing that's gonna start a War again, it will be up to Aang's Generation of this time to help save the world. No one will believe them in this time about this news except for the man who is a 10000 years old and was raised by Iroh, I think Zuko. Ahhh This is all a fan fiction, not the real plot so don't running in a panic
What do you mean Planet Sheen's heading to NickToons TV? That's not a problem either, there's tons of shows on NickToons TV that's still going on now, SpongeBob comes to mind.

Here are more updates if you're interested.
Man I wanted to work on that show, but they would've wanted me to have another year of experience.
So here's what blows my mind (prepare for horrible grammar):
Okay, so the avatar dies when the new avatar is born because the avatar is REINCARNATED... THAT MEANS KORRA IS ACTUALLY AANG.. AND SHE'S BEING TAUGHT BY AANG'S SON TENZIN!!! THAT MEANS SHE'S GONNA BE ALL, "Whoooaaa this guy is like my father figure, but I'm his ... father... And I'm having flashbacks to when I was raising him and I was his dad... But I'm a girl. WEIRD!" And then Tenzin is gonna be all, "The mate of the avatar is always reincarnated too, so hurry up and pick a boyfriend so I can re-meet my momma!" And she's gonna be like, "OMG I CAN'T CHOOSE BETWEEN THESE MEN! WHICH ONE IS KATARA OMG!!!"
WEIRD

I don't know if they'll do it, but I REALLY want some closure on Zuko's mom in this series. I'm not sure how they'll get it in there, but I just gotta see the tearful reunion!

You know you dropped the ball with the live-action movie when the creators of the original series scoot away from saying that they don't like it.
I don't know if they'll do it, but I REALLY want some closure on Zuko's mom in this series. I'm not sure how they'll get it in there, but I just gotta see the tearful reunion!
I totally second everything you just said, Beks.
