I think he said something about it being too purified or whatever. I don't remember. I'll have to find the ep online and watch again. Maybe it's something like, if you purify a metal enough times, then an earthbender can't detect the impurities and bend them. Or something like that.

Something I've noticed over the past couple of days on Tumblr...it seems that fans of Tahno and Tahorra/Tahnorra have all unanimously decided that Tahno's a waterbender from the Foggy Swamp. I've seen soooo many fics, drabbles, fanart, headcanons, etc. that all promote this idea. Where did it come from, I wonder?

Personally, I think Tahno is a waterbender of mixed Water Tribe and Earth Kingdom origin. It makes sense because: the Foggy Swamp tribe waterbenders were extremely isolated from the rest of the world. Those guys leaving home to travel to an advanced, modern metropolis like Republic City is pretty doubtful. In addition, I've seen way more Earth Kingdom citizens with skin as pale as Tahno's than Foggy Swamp tribesmen (Tahno's skin tone is more similar to that of Toph, Pema, Lin, and Suki than the Foggy Swamp people, who are closer in pigmentation to Jet, Lee, Pipsqueak, Haru, etc.). Also, Earth Kingdom citizens have been seen to have gray eyes, which Tahno has, while I only remember seeing blue and green among the Foggy Swamp tribe, though I may be wrong on that account.

But really, my main points of argument are the skin color and the isolated nature of the Foggy Swamp.

Probably true. I did find a pretty well-drawn (and admittedly sexy) picture of Tahno and Korra in Foggy Swamp tribe attire on Tumblr today...



Korra is sexier than Tahno in this attire, as to be expected.

So I've been really hoping that Older!Zuko would appear in Legend of Korra, but then I realized...he'd be like 87, and all wrinkly, which would make his scar all levels of hideous that it was not in the original series. In fact, us meeting Older!Zuko would probably end up being Nightmare Fuel.

Maybe they weren't legit "identical." ATLA took place in a preindustrial world. They probably didn't have the ability to scientifically prove the twins were identical. Twins can look identical, but be genetically fraternal.

OK, so if it's a recessive trait (meaning you need two copies of the allele to be a bender), then how could Aang and Katara have produced a non-bender? Likewise, unless the "bending" gene isn't discipline specific, how could say, two parents produce a firebender and an earthbender? If it's actually autosomal dominant, then it should run in families, but it obviously doesn't (since neither of Katara's parents were waterbenders).
Unless there are multiple influencing genes that interact somehow...I am confused.
