I mean, she only brought Jimmy and Cindy closer together by making Cindy jealous. LOL.

Yes she did ^_^ and I am grateful for that :D Without her we wouldn't have some of the funny jealous Cindy scenes ^_^

I loved the music video,"Girl Next Door!" Ally did a great job! :D It was a love triangle thing between Betty,Cindy, and of course Jimmy. I think she is a little misunderstood, but I still don't really like her. No offense to anyone.

I respect you and your J/B supportedness very much, NekoGirl, but I think your making her out to be more than she was meant to be. She was probably just a way to blossom the J/C relationship. But you have the freedom to think of her anyway you want to. I fully respect your decisions (sp?) over the show.

I really don't like to get caught up in the relationships, but it's on this board so much that it's really hard not to. I'm sorry if I offended you in anyway. I personally pick J/B over J/C though. ;)

Lol couldn't help but comment on this, my parents read that and they laughed (not in a mean way :) ) because they were just like J/C when they were young. According to them and their friends my parents fought like you couldn't believe, they hated each other, and they were rivals. It only got worse when they fell in love cause they both denied it for the longest time :rolleyes:
My uncle (well my pops best pal) said it was sickening when they finally got together :lol: Btw they've been married for 20 years ^_^

Betty....she's nice, and she's okay. But not one of my favorite characters, maybe because I didn't get a chance to really know who the character is :) not like the rest of the gang.

Jane: I understand that you like J/C, & I'm glad for your parents & all, but I just see Jimmy/Betty as the better idea in JN for some reason, maybe its cause of the hate part of J/C, but I severly doubt it.

I never look as J/B as just a 'preventive measure' against J/C, NEVER. I just like the idea of Jimmy/Betty over it is all.

But believe me, I have nothing BUT respect for everyone AND the J/C pairing. I just like Jimmy/Betty instead is all when it comes to JN. ;)

But just to let you guys know, I will be starting my GED classes this coming Monday, so that means that once I finish them & earn my GED, then I should be able to start writing the first in a series of Jimmy/Betty fanfics I have in mind!

Now the thing is that my classes won't be over until at least late October - early November, so don't expect any until then at least, because the classes will take up virtually ALL my time, so my spare time will virtually be in lockdown, so to speak, & just about all I'll have time for is checking around this site once per evening. :wacko:

Anyhow, it WILL be worth it, as I'll then be able to write my own fanfictions at least, which means practically a slew of Jimmy/Betty fics, whether I get good reviews or not! ^_^

I can see from the responses to this topic that it's VERY difficult to separate the "B" from the "J/B", but let me try to do that for a moment.

Entirely independent from whatever pairings you or I happen to support, I think that Betty is genuinely a good person. There is no evidence in the show whatsoever to suggest that she's mean, petty, scheming, or any other nasty adjective you could think of. On the contrary, she seems to be pretty well-mannered and down-to-earth. She isn't mean to anyone and she treats everyone with pretty much the same amount of respect. Allowing pairings to sneak back into the argument for just a moment, in "Vanishing Act", Betty is still respectful to Cindy even after Cindy pouts, nags, picks on Jimmy, and clearly detests Betty.

Betty has been relegated to the rather predictable role of "opposing love interest" in competition with the main female character, but try to imagine for a moment what you might think of her if this were NOT the case. No doubt you'd find Betty to be a perfectly reasonable, nice sort of girl. I think it's important to remember that pairings DON'T make a person when you talk about a person's character.

I'd like to see a fanfic where Cindy and Betty find some common ground ASIDE from the whole J/C J/B thing. If I ever get around to writing my fanfic "Meet the Parents", that might actually happen. Note the word "if"...

& yes, your right. Trying to talk about Betty HERSELF as a character & not J/B is pretty hard to do when it seems as though that's the only reason she was put in the show to begin with. But to be honest, I'm glad the writers DID put her in, otherwise, I dunno if I could imangine Jimmy in any extended relationship on the show itself, aside from April the Gorlock, provided they adopted children when they grew up instead of actually having their own. ;)

Anyhow, I'm just glad you feel that way about her Mara. I'm eaxtcly the same way with her, & THAT is how I plan to use her character, AS WE SEE HER ON-SCREEN. Vanishing Act's "chat" excluded from her personality.

Btw, what do you think of the following titles for the prologues?

Prologue # 1

My Angel

Reason: Because this will detail the beginning, how Jimmy & Betty met, why his crush on her started, (granted, it IS a crush, but that doesn't mean the relationship can stay that way, it can blossom into something more ya'know) & the MAIN reason for the title is that this will explain how I see the crush starting: When Jimmy first moved to Retroville in the 3rd grade, it's safe to assume he might've been a little more sensitive to how others felt & talked about him, & with every other girl making fun of him, he probably couldn't help but like Betty when she was actually nice to him, regardless of what anyone else felt or thought about him.

& he probably noticed her beauty, (like most in this type of case do) but only after she was so much nicer to him than everyone else.

I dunno why, but I like to think that he met Betty BEFORE he met Carl & Sheen. I dunno why, I just think that.

Because the J/B has that "she was nice when no one else was" feel to them, & if so, then Carl & Sheen couldn't have come before her.

& I also assume that the 3rd grade was when he first made Goddard, or maybe a year later, so I'll place this fic as a "before Goddard's creation" idea.

So that's the basic gist of "My Angel", & I could see Jimmy thinking of Betty as his own 'sort of' guardian angel or something, simply put, because she treated him with kindness & caring when no one else would.

About Carl & Sheen: I sort of believe that Jimmy met these two AFTER he met Betty, because of above statements, & the fact that if he met these two beforehand, he'd already have that needed bond in their friendship.

So the first meeting between the three amigops will come after the first J/B meeting, at least in this story anyhow.

& if it sounds like Cindy COULD be a little harsh, it's only because I'm trying to look at it through her eyes too. Because if Jimmy was the one who moved to Retroville, then Cindy would have that "# 1 spot" beforehand, but after Jimmy unknowingly takes it from her, simply by being a genius, I assume Cindy would be outraged, & needless to say, I doubt she'd let up on Jimmy the first few days, so that will explain why she MIGHT sound a little harsh at first.

But I'm NOT trying to bash or flame her character. I do like Cindy, a LOT, I'm just trying to keep her in character is all.

Since this would be the beginning, I might have her act like she could like him that way a little, but it'll be strongly covered by her desire to remain # 1.

I'm just trying to give a preview of the "mood" or "setting" of the first fic is all.

The second prologue, I have in mind a title such as "Through Her Eyes", why?

Well, look at the description. The fic will basically just be the exact same series that's on TV, but from Betty's point of view. & thusly, we see the same thing, but through her eyes.

So do you guys think those titles might work for the prologues?

One thing I don't understand about anti-Betty. She has NEVER been shallow or disresepctful, or rude. Cindy is a little rough around the edges, but look DEEP down in there, and she's really really nice. Anyway, on to Betty. I like her, but not as much a Cindy, but she's a okay girl, and I'm thinking about a fic when Betty and Cindy make a truce and accept they both like him, yet Cindy actually admits her feelings to Jimmy. Betty's not mad or anything at her, she was giving Libby's good ol' 'I knew it' stares. :P Now, this fic is NOT anti-J/B, I'm just saying what I would think happen. Because, well, we all have our own opinions and rights! ^_^ Betty and Cindy turn into friends and are now glad they got their feelings off their chest. Betty will find someone too, I just need to make OC guy for her. I'm thinking about naming him Matt? Any ideas?

in one of the many fics (well, right now im only writing two, but its been too much for me lately....) that im writing, Betty and Cindy are actually friends. i cant tell yall the reason why they get along, but yeah. im really not against Betty at all, and i think some people really misunderstand Betty and think of her as a boy-stealing girl, which i dont think is the case. but this is just my opinion.....

OMG, I love Betty! And the J/B pairing. ^_^ I like J/C and J/B, but I'm currently more fond of J/B at the moment. I <3 her character. Cindy and Betty are DEFINETLY are at a tie on my favorite female character list. But, I like btoh! ^_^

Exactly my thoughts on the two girls, but J/B deserved more development towards their relationship than what they got. It's not even as much as what Lila got with Arnold, (though she doesn't fit too right for some reason, go figure. :blink:) & Lila's still hatedby most fans.

But at best, for one, Betty just seems so much calmer & gentle to mostpeople. Sure, Sheen annoyed her a bit in Vanishing Act, but aside from that, NO one has yet to get on her nerves that weren't also having those feelings for Jimmy.

But I think she's just a great character who, although she didn't get as much character development as Cindy, Betty is a great character herself, & virtually the ONLY girl who's ever been nice to Jimmy right from the start. :)

So Betty would have to be my all-time favorite female character, but for MAIN female characters, being Cindy & Libby, I'd definitely have to say Libby. But Jimmy's my all-time fave throughout the whole show. ^_^

Well, keep in mind this little "chat" was ONLY a few lines, & EVERY OTHER TIME we see Betty, she's shown as a sweet, kind & caring person who, while she might be annoyed by a couple people, if only slightly, would NEVER hurt a soul, or even try to act shallow!

Yes, I know EVERY bit about Lady Sings The News, & of course I see the J/C kiss in several of people's signatures, but I know better than to start a mindless flame war, & while I can't actually see the rivalry suddenly stopping altogether in one day, but still, I know ALMOST everyone here likes J/C, I just don't want to start ANY fights, so I'll back off.

& don't fight over what I posted, I'm pretty sure no one needs to get in a pointless fight over a couple of pairings, or a cartoon character.

All this Betty hatred/disliking is enough to make you not want to be a fan at all anymore, but I still am a JN AND a J/B fan, so don't worry, but still, it could get to a person.. :(
