Well, she texted me saying this:
"I just got all my blood results today. The Lyme disease marker came back positive. I have to do a bunch of more tests."
She's really freaked out and needs thoughts/prayers/comfort/whatever more than ever. We all wish we could be there with her, I'm sure, but for now we gotta do as awesome as we can being an online community.
Love you tons and tons and tons, Mara.

*hugs Mara*
You're an unbelievably strong person, Mara. I know you've been sick for a while and still don't know why, and it's just so impressive that you hold up as well as you do.
You'll be in my thoughts. Feel free to IM, email, PM, call, or whatever!
Thanks for the update, Gwen.

I'm truly sorry she has to deal with that...

It is really nasty, though. And the meds for it are not any fun, either, from what my friend went through.

Poor guy though. He was like, wicked pale, and dry heaving all over the place. He also made a face out of a foam box and named it Harold.
One cool kid.

Unfortunately, if it IS lyme disease, then I've had it for 4+ years, and treating it is going to be very, VERY difficult. I am not looking forward to long term antibiotics. Plus, once the problem becomes chronic, it's likely that the symptoms won't go away even after it's treated. I'm hoping really, really hard that further testing rules out a lyme disease diagnosis.Yeah, lyme disease is pretty treatable if you catch it early enough. Gets harder to treat later on, but isn't impossible. =/

Hopefully it's something that's a bit easier to treat.

*swears in Spanish*
My uncle had it for six years. He turned out okay, but since he got it when he was older, it was difficult to treat.
Don't freak, Mara. You're young; your immune system can still kick some royal patootie.

I didn't think it was possible for a house to be this disgusting. :o The worst dorm rooms at my college are 3-4x better than this, and that's REALLY saying something. The bathtub was more like a vat of radioactive waste than anything else (Emma had to wear rubber gloves to scrub it out), and there was dust an inch thick on most of the surfaces. Hannah has 16 quails, 5 fish, 2 frogs, 2 mice, and 1 chinchilla - and there was cage gunk/feathers/dander/poo EVERYWHERE. The vacuum is utterly stuffed with it. We went through the cupboards, and we found the weirdest things. There were drinks and food items that expired YEARS ago, and we found a half decomposed mutant onion trailing a streamer of slime.
To add the proverbial icing on the cake, Hannah's bedroom is FILLED floor to ceiling with weird yaoi crap (granted, she does have some cool Japanese swords, but still). I'm really creeped out. Apparently Hannah's technique is to let the house get SO appalling that any guests who come to stay have no choice other than to clean it, merely for the sake of preserving public health.
If it weren't so hilariously funny, I would be genuinely grossed out.

Yeesh, that makes my grandma's house seem clean. Most of her surfaces have an inch of dust, and when you're there, all you can smell is dust and old people. *hack* So gross.
But seriously, I wouldn't go anywhere near that girl's place ever again, if I were you. Not even if my life depended on it.
If you won't be grossed out about it, I'll be grossed out for you. Yech.

Well, now that it's not a vile cesspool of human and animal refuse anymore, it's actually quite pleasant. ^_^ I just made a pot of butternut squash soup for the two of us (I even cut up an apple and added it in for extra sweetness - MAN I amaze myself sometimes). Now I'm sittin' back, enjoyin' a spot o' tea, reading Redwall, and listening to Enya's new CD.
Good times.
