Chapter VII, Part 2
Then, as if it couldn’t get any worse, anything and everything Cindy was touching almost instantly turned lime and, when she burst into an indistinguishable mass of moving color, so did they. The fork she was holding became a red-and-gold blur, as did several inches of tablecloth around it when Cindy slammed it down.
Her oversized shirt and pants, along with her hat and shoes, looked as though they had recently come out of a washing machine filled only with green and brown clothes.
Cindy stood up, terrified, and her chair fell down. As soon as her foot made contact with the floor it made a big yellow mark: her footprint, outlined by twelve fading inches of color. Nick gave a strangled, girly cry and ran out of the restaurant without looking back.
Cindy was trapped. She couldn’t move—everything she touched burned her entire body; she caught a glimpse of Nick’s disappearing figure and suddenly exploded in black—the people around her let out petrified screams and evacuated the restaurant. Finally, unable to bear it, she called her mom at home. The line was busy; she called again after a few seconds: still busy. Well, what had she expected?
Cindy, of course by knowing it now by heart, punched in Jimmy’s number (wincing at the heat of nine different numbers), half hoping there wouldn’t be anyone there, but Jimmy picked up on the second ring. Just hearing his voice made her calm down and return to a human rainbow.

Chapter VII, Part 3
“Hello, Neutron?”
Less than two minutes later, Cindy heard the unfortunately familiar sound of a hover car landing. Cindy, impatient, ran out, leaving large footprints as she went.
“Neutron, what took you so long?!” Cindy screamed partly out of anger and partly from pain: every step she took was like walking on a flame.
Jimmy raised a bucket he was already holding and threw its contents on Cindy: freezing water sailed over her head and landed, full force, all at once, over and down her body. Ice cubes cascaded like hail moments after.
Cindy, shivering, opened her mouth and closed it. The water actually felt wonderful and, Cindy knew, she deserved it.
Jimmy pulled out a huge ball of saran wrap, unrolled it and laid it over the entire back seat and, smirking slightly, watched Cindy get in silently, slightly humiliated.

This chapter is because I'm so happy about my new phone ! Isn't it PRETTY? =D I got it yesterday. I feel so stupid because after ten minutes of trying, I finally had to call the store to figure out how to turn it OFF. Geez. Turns out there's a little button on the top that you're supposed to push, instead of the bottom right button. Go fig. Anyway, enjoy!!
Chapter VIII
“What are you guys doing here?” Cindy asked, surprised.
Jimmy had led her to his lab, obviously, but Libby, Sheen, and Carl were sitting there this time.
“Sheen and Carl were already sitting here when you called—“
“Why weren’t you fixing your invention?” Cindy didn’t ask.
“And Sheen must’ve called Libby after I left.”
“Great.”
Sheen looked up from his Nintendo, saw Cindy, let out a snort of laughter, and then nervously bit his lip. Libby raised her eyebrows in amusement, and Carl fell over his chair in an unkind resemblance of Nick.
“If anybody says a word, they’re dead.”
Sheen opened his mouth, seemed to think better of it, closed his mouth, and then opened it again, laughing. Cindy advanced a few steps furiously.
“Hey, you said we couldn’t talk! I was laughing, not talking!” Sheen said defensively, still grinning slightly.
“Remember, Cindy, don’t touch anything! And vice versa, guys!” Jimmy called from the other side of the room.
But even as he said it, Libby began approaching cautiously to observe her arms up close.
“No offense, Cin, but you have to admit, this is kind of cool!” Libby said.
Forgetting Jimmy’s warnings, Libby picked up Cindy’s hand and turned it over in her own, admiring the colors.
The effect was immediate: green, yellow, and brown trickled through her fingers and down her hands, slowly turning Libby into Cindy’s clone.
Libby gave a quiet shriek.
“Jimmy, help me!” she called desperately.
Before Jimmy had time to do anything besides grab something and look panicked, the color stopped spreading the moment she called Jimmy by his first name, as if the Rainbow 5000 was waiting to see what she would do next. Sheen stopped smiling as soon as he looked up, eyes wide. He was so shocked that he dropped his Nintendo, which skidded halfway across the floor.
“Here,” Libby said sweetly, picking it up and giving it to Sheen, “you dropped this.”
The color that was up to her elbow, no longer green or brown, retreated almost a foot so that it only covered her nails. (Cindy looked furious.)
“Thanks,” Sheen said, surprised that his handheld appeared untouched despite Libby’s contagious form.
Libby smiled in response and that did it—all the yellow vanished completely.
Cindy stared in a combination of disbelief—why hadn’t it been so easy for her?—and slight annoyance—she had wanted to kick Ultra-Dork’s Nintendo farther across the floor. As soon as that thought crossed her mind, ugly blotches of purple appeared on her arms and legs and faded after a moment.
“Um, Neutron, why did that happen?” Cindy questioned, once Jimmy came back.
“Yeah, it’s just as I feared… well, actually, hoped,” Jimmy admitted. “At any rate, I sort of expected it—”
“Ahem,” Cindy said loudly.
Jimmy narrowed his eyes and set his jaw. “Libby went back to normal by being nice, something you CLEARLY are not, before anything spread too far or got too bad. Unfortunately for you, you’ve been like that for weeks—way too long for, say, one or two nice things and a smile to cure. So, let’s see, the number of hours times X divided by—”
“AHEM!”
“You’re a mean, vain person. You have to act nice and selfless for twenty-four hours in the next twenty-four hours in the next four days or the effects will become permanent,” Jimmy said flatly.
Then, taking advantage of Cindy’s temporary silence, he added in a fakey-sweet voice, “That clear enough for you?”
Cindy shook her head, hard, and let out a shrieking laugh.
“I’m sorry, Neutron, but I must have some water left in my ear. What did you say?”
“YOU HAVE TO BE NICE!” Carl bellowed. “That’s what we had to do to Uncle Stan after our annual beach party,” he added in response to everyone else’s raised eyebrows, shrugging apologetically.
“Neutron, that’s not possible. Isn’t there anything else?” Cindy begged.
“Cin, didn’t you ever see that old move ‘Scary Saturday?’ That’s the only option!” Libby said.
Cindy looked defeated. “Fine. Okay. Fine.”
Jimmy smiled. Not, in Cindy’s opinion, just a ha-ha smile, but an evil-revenge-plot smile. Cindy’s eyes narrowed by an immeasurable amount and she opened her mouth, but Sheen cut her off.
“This should be interesting.”
Jimmy gave another self-satisfied smirk.
“Yes. It should.”
After this, I have complete and total writer's block for the next 3 chapters and then after that I know basically what's going on. So I probably won't be able to update till I get hit by a good idea --ice cream truck runs me over-- so, bring 'em on!!
