Funny how things sometimes happen when you least expect them to. When you do expect them, you aren’t surprised, and neither are those around you. But, when you do things that you do on human impulse that you think can do something bad only for it to do something good and unexpected to you and all those around you. Something like what happened next.
Cindy’s fogged, pale, cold hand reached for Jimmy’s hand, warm and comforting in the realm of cold ghostliness. Her fingers intertwined with his and his fingers did not fade or fog. In fact, everything around her grew less and less foggy and clearer. Then, everything went black.
“Oh my gosh, Cindy!” Libby said, excitedly.
“Cindy!” Louis exclaimed.
Jimmy smiled broadly, his hand closing tighter around Cindy’s. “Cindy,” he murmured. “You can open your eyes now.”
Cindy’s eyes fluttered open and the room slowly came into focus, as if she was waking up from a long sleep. “What happened?” Cindy thought, then she realized, she didn’t hear her thought out loud. She looked up at Libby and Louis standing in front of her and tried to speak. She opened her mouth. Nothing. Cindy touched her throat desperately and looked around shocked and a bit scared.
“Oh, no! She can’t talk!” Libby said, voicing Cindy’s thoughts for her.
Louis looked at her sadly, “Is that right?”
Cindy nodded, her eyes revealing the pain in her heart that she would never be able to speak anything ever again.
Jimmy took in the desperate look in Cindy’s eyes and knew what she was thinking. “Cindy…” he said gently. “It doesn’t matter that you can never speak again…because, you already told us what you thought was going to be your last words to us…which happened to be a correct assumption…but now…you have your actions. They speak louder than any words.”
Cindy, with her sad eyes matching her smile, nodded in agreement.
Jimmy slowly released her hand and she hugged Libby warmly, glad to feel her best friend alive and well. She turned to Louis and smiled. Her eyes said, “Thank you,” as she embraced him as well.
Then she turned back to Jimmy. She mouthed the three simple words she knew he would understand. I love you. Cindy stepped closer to him and kissed him on his cheek.
Walked over to the desk and grabbed a small pad and a pencil. She wrote fast in a pretty handwriting. Then she handed it to Jimmy.
You said that actions speak louder than words. I hope that did.
Jimmy smiled and nodded at her, as she scribbled up another note.
I’ve decided something…I’m going to tell nothing but the truth from now on. When you have limited words, you shouldn’t deceive people.
She handed it to Jimmy and smiled. She felt very good to be alive.
“Sorry, but…” Louis began, “I’ve been thinking about something… Where are Strych and his henchman?”
Everyone’s blood ran cold.

Kim, why must you taunt us with your cliffhangers? This chapter was very bittersweet. I really enjoyed reading it and I'm glad you didn't leave us with a MASSIVE cliffhanger for too long.

Chica: Dramatic-ness? I love you, Chica. < 3 Yes, I decided that, that cliffy was a little too harsh and I should write the next chapter before all my readers explode with anticipation. Bittersweet? Yay! That's always my aim. Thanks again, I love hearing from you.
Amanda: Crazy? Why yes I am, thanks for asking. ;) Next chapter's a-comin' real soon. Don't you worry. ^_^

Chapter 34 ~ The Real Threat
The low rumble of thunder and the clatter of rain on the tin roof of the laboratory echoed ominously as the terrible lightning storm raged outside. The cavernous hangar that housed various hi-tech weapons and menacing vehicles was clothed in only frightening shadows and echoes of nothing until the heavy, oversized metal door creaked open. The mechanized ceiling lights flicked on one by one as the dark duo walked underneath them, eventually reaching the machine they were looking for. It lay hidden underneath a beige canvas, at the very end of the hangar. A devious smirk pulled at the lips of the villain as he gave his crony the command:
“Pull off the cover, Mr. Henderson.”
The muscled guard walked over, grabbed the corner of the canvas, and pulled, sending dust into the air around the machine, veiling it in a curtain of what was fairy dust to Eustace Strych as he gazed with a sick love for the machine of mass destruction.
“Tonight, revenge will be achieved,” the boy whispered to himself. “They will pay.”
The evil that shone in the maniacal child’s eyes was enough to make even Henderson, the terrifying bodyguard, shudder. The wind howled, eerily, like ghosts warning the hunted of their evil opponent’s new method of disposing of them.
In the warehouse where our heroes now stood, the ghostly howl of wind sent a shiver of apprehension up their spines. Though the whole group was now together, alive, and out of the dimension two had been taken relatively unscathed, they were not out of danger. A threat they had not worried about had only shaped into a threat real enough to be dangerous. The real threat. The threat being fired up just a few doors away.
