If you survived the lust room, which was my most risque venture, you can certainly handle this. However, if you'd rather NOT be left with a cliffhanger, wait until next Monday or Tuesday to read it, when the rest of the chapter (complete with conclusion) will be up.

Crys, you got me! I'm reading it tonight, believe it or not!!
I did nothing. You made up your own mind. I just showed you that you already knew what you wanted to do.

If you want to finish TOSOT, and know if DJ ever gets cured and becomes a wimpy little scientist who's basically screwed his universe over or stays the incredibly evil and hot dictator, then you will read it.
(I'm personally hoping for the latter).
I knew there was a reason I was keeping you alive.

Sadly, I haven't virtually read ANYTHING past "6 Stars of Twilight".
And virtually the reason for that is due to my envious jeliously over Mara's advanced writing in the story.
Yup, boys and girls. THAT'S my reason.
You would think someone would be more intrigued with the story's plotline or character development, or, in the case of dear, sweet FL
For me, it was different. I was FAR more put aback not by the plot or characters, but by MARA'S OWN SKILL IN WRITING!
Sometimes when you're trying to develop on something, thinking you're very good at it, and all of a sudden you find that someone's work, virtually the very same thing you're doing, and details far surpasses your capabilites, it REALLY kicks your ass.
Or in my case, made me insanely pissed off.
All this while making Comet made it much more difficult for me to write, virtually cause I was trying, failing and eventually mopping over how my writing sucked compared to Mara's.
Throughout the next year and few months I virtually tried, and failed, to read even a single TOSOT chapter without having my consence beletting me over how underdeveloped my writing was, especally trying to make Comet. Each time I tried to write anything, I immediently bombbasted it, critisized it and always came to the conclusion to give up writing and just not bother with writing at all since it wasn't going to be as good as Mara's. Ever!
Call it a Writer's nature, a writer's sense of perfectionism, or even a writer's lack of confidence in his abilites, but that's what I've been feeling everytime I tried to read TOSOT or anything Mara makes.
But thanks to Crys's TOSOT rant, plus overwhelming support of Katie, Gabby, Em, Athena, Sadi, Crys, and even Mara herself, over the last year and a half my mind has had as recent change in outlook.
Katie once told me, about my desire to write like Mara, that in order to be a great writer, or virtually anything in life, you have to strive with "YOU OWN VOICE". She offered up the metaphor of taking a "writing pill" which made you write all advanced and all, but at the coast of instant writing talent without all the hard work and long-time effort, you LOSE your sense of indentity. The writing WON'T come from YOU, rather you'll just be a simple imitation of someone else's talents.
It's like a musician who knows all the technacall basics but lacks the sparkful creativity - You may have the craft and the know-how to do something, but without a sense of spontanious creativity and a big imagination with it, you might as well be a robot simply doing for the sake of doing.
I'm VERY sure, Mara, although you might've been born with a natural talent for a vast varity of your many gifts, nonetheless you still had to work and earn the newer skills as hard as anyone. It's incredible. I can be so blind to my mediocraty and inferiority that I forget that Mara is a person, just like the rest of us.
And to put all that hard work in such a vast, funny, dramatic and epic story, all the while dogding all sorts of hardships and drama in your personal life and have me NOT reading it cause I was jelious?
Heck, this thought came and I felt so ashamed.
"What kind of friend doesn't read a person's work after all the hard work she puts into it just because his skills aren't as good as hers?," I thought.
I would blame Comet's ambition and demands of me to write it as good as it can be, but then again this is the TOSOT DISCUSSTION TOPIC, not the Comet Discussion Topic.
Which is why I want to annouce, right her and right now, that I WILL read TOSOT's epic last chapter. I owe it to Mara after all the hard work she putted into this great story.
And heck I don't even CARE if I don't write anything for virtually ever cause of it. If I've read a great story from it's beginning, then as a fellow author and writer it's my duty to see it to the end without a single thought of jeliously or spite.
I'll read all of TOSOT if it's the last thing I do! For Mara and all of IDOJ!!
P.S. - I monoluged, haven't I?

And I stand by what I told you all that time ago. There is a good reason we're not all just carbon copies of each other. We each have different gifts, different experiences, and different goals. Those things shape whatever we try to achieve into reality - and we each get our own, unique reality that way. You've got a very poetic heart, Pedro. Keep nurturing it and you'll achieve a lot to be proud of, I'm certain.

Your writing is under-developed because when you see something that you think is "better" than yours, instead of LEARNING from it and PRACTICING, you just feel crappy about yourself and give up the whole endeavor. News flash: there will ALWAYS be better writers than you. I look at people like Orson Scott Card, Stephen King, Tamora Pierce, Danielle Steele (OK, so she writes fluff, but she makes a killing doing it) and I think - I will never, EVER be as good as they are. Some writers are obscenely talented - usually because they're only a few inches away from insanity. Other writers are just dogged and hellbent on persevering. Others are just insanely lucky (look at Stephenie Meyer). You can't let their successes get you down. You have to flip it around and think: if a moron like SMeyer is now a multimillionaire, I bet I can get published too!
Of course it's in every writer's nature to self-critique and to feel a bittersweet mix of admiration and envy for other writers. And I'm going to be straight with you: you need to learn to spell things correctly, and it wouldn't hurt if you dedicated some time to learning the meaning of higher-lever words, so that you don't end up mixing your meanings.
My advice: read the dictionary. Every self-respecting geek does it, and it does WONDERS for the aspiring writer. You also might want to borrow or buy some books on the craft, or if you're more google inclined, run a search on characterization, plot, or style - whatever you want to learn more about, really.
I appreciate your willingness to finally read TOSOT, but in all honesty, TOSOT is just a fanfic. It's not even really all that extraordinary. It certainly has its shining moments, but from a practical and financial standpoint it's completely useless. When you realize that it's JUST a fanfic - just an exercise in fun - you also realize that writing doesn't have to be so damn SERIOUS.
That's your problem, Pedro. You are, without a doubt, the most serious human being under the age of 45 that I have ever met. You treat everything in life as if it were grave - you treat writing as this deep, earth-shattering venture. Just write for fun, Pedro. You don't have to show anybody what you've written. For God's sake, push yourself, but not for the end product, for the learning experience.
Think up a story where spiders are the main characters. Sit down for an hour and write without stopping, no matter what comes out. Write a one page erotic novel (yes I am encouraging you to generate written porn

Um, heheh, guilty as charged! I'm sure every one of you that have read my fics know that for a fact... Heck, the longest fic I've written is a whopping 28 chapters!!! But it's nothing compared to TOSOT. Anyone can see that. But I'm not letting that get in the way of my fic-writing... It's my sheer passion for JN that is my main inspiration, as well as some PG-13-rated stuff as well, as anyone who's read my fics can attest.Write a one page erotic novel (yes I am encouraging you to generate written porn

DJ is even hijacking dreams now!
Also, I am currently having an authorial BSOD - I am so freaking SICK of this fanfic. I want it to be done so I can get on with my life. Why do I suck at finishing anything within a reasonable timeframe? Where is my motivation? Why can't I get my act together??
