i know literally no one else cares about this, but I'm listening to the next chapter of candela obscura. i only have one episode left and it's ALREADY been wild so far. I truly love the horror/ mystery/ secret society vibes of this show. I can't make it through an episode without getting LITERAL goosebumps.

(I feel like I will likely never be a CR person though bc I find podcasts boring lol. such a short attention span)

also PERC'AHLIA over Vaxleth

 

I like Vax and Kiki individually but find their romance kind of eh so far 

 

also Scanlan singing to the sphinx was iconic

I JUST FINISHED s2!! only one season until I'm all caught up. 

 

Pike/Grog friendship to the very end, would 10/10 die for them, I already find Kaylie/her plot line annoying, the twist in the season finale with keeper Yennen???, PERC'AHLIA!!!, and Vax and the Matron!!! I love this show.

Yeah, CR is a time commitment. I am not going to lie. I have to listen to episodes at like 2x speed to make it through. But I do love it a lot ))

 

Candela is purely a stream. No animated show. Yet.

I don’t think you can be a fake fan. If you enjoy tlovm alone you still enjoy it! I don’t like when people pressure others into loving the stream because the format ain’t for everyone. You can certainly try it! But if you don’t click with it, that doesn’t mean you aren’t a fan.

I feel like I'm missing out on the voice actor lore. Are some of them married IRL? 

 

I might try it and see if I like it but most likely I'll stick with the show itself. I honestly think this is a top 10 of all time show for me. The friendships are my favorite part.

I would advise if you do, starting at episode 27. The early early episodes had uh… some tension between a former player and the current cast and you can feel it in the episodes themselves.

Also, be aware that there were some changes made in the adaptation. So there may be some things that are different )

As for the voice actors! Yeah! Laura Bailey (Vex) is married to Travis Willingham (Grog). And Matt Mercer (who is the dm and does show up at random times in the show) is married to Marisha Ray (Keyleth).

And yeah! I think Percy is one of the youngest in the group! the white hair and revenge plotline throw that off a bit.

finally got caught up on candela. man, i love this series so much. it's so friggin' creepy. 

 

like I know I shared the music, but this is the intro. (like, it's one of my favorites of ALL the critical role series)

SO, I watched Thresher which was a two part series using the candela obscura framework, but the setting was under the sea!!! It was CRAZY intense and to be honest, there was a LOT going on at the end, I might have to rewatch it to fully understand all the dynamics unfolding.... but seriously every single time I watch these series I come away thinking "THAT WAS WILD."

I've also been watching their Daggerheart episodes. (there's like a trio of episodes, and a christmas episode) in preparation for their Age Of Umbra campaign. 

 

Daggerheart, like Candela Obscura is an original game system designed by Critical Role and it's pretty fun!

Finished the first episode of The Age of Umbra today and I am so friggin' excited to see where this goes!

AGE OF UMBRA IS SO INTENSE. I love it. 

 

I really, really wish that some of the people who have complained about the road c3 took would engage with some of their other content. Like almost all of the daggerheart stuff has been fun and engaging and Candela Obscura was one of the most insane things I've ever seen. So creepy, and fun! 

 

I kid you not when I was watching an episode of the second circle, I literally had to pause and scream OUT LOUD because the twist literally BLEW my mind.
