Wow, Katie!! I'm not finished reading it yet but I had to stop and gush about it. It's fantastically written, and I can barely tell it's fanfiction, you've captured the characters so well!!! I can picture every single character perfectly while I read. A job well done.

D'awww I love Spike. This was such a great episode! 
Also, I find it funny how Spike's dealing with such heavy questions. He's awfully philosophical for a baby dragon... XD

One year ago today I gave MLP: FiM a chance and watched the first few episodes.
The addiction was practically immediate.
And this addiction has been the best possible thing that could've happened to me to help me get through the hardships of this past year.

My new fanfic has been approved on Equestria Daily. It'll be posted there soon. Readying the floodgates...last time this happened I got thousands of new readers within 24 hours. More readers is awesome. More comments are awesome. But with more comments, comes the inevitable fact that some will be negative. The more people who read your stuff, the more likely it is someone stumbles upon it who doesn't like it at all. Good practice for real critical reviews of my actual novels someday! Gotta thicken up my skin.
The pre-reader on EqD loved it, though, which is cool. This is my first attempt at a epic adventure MLP fanfic. To get a personalized response from the pre-readers is a pretty big deal. EqD is super picky about what they post, and even if they decide to post your stuff, they usually just write "You're approved! To the submission line-up!" or something along those lines. But I got a multi-paragraph response about how awesome my fic was, so that's a nice ego boost. Good timing, too, as I'm feeling quite down about my "real" (non-fanfiction) writing. Hopefully this whole thing will boost my self esteem for writing in general.

A magical empire had suddenly appeared in the arctic north of Equestria, and Princess Celestia needs Twilight Sparkle and her friends to find a way to protect it. While her friends try to keep the Crystal Ponies occupied at the Crystal Fair, Twilight Sparkle searches for the hidden Crystal Heart that is the key to keeping their empire safe from harm.
