Honestly, I don't like the idea.
First, because I'm a huge JC fan (Cindy is my favorite character).
Second, because - though I don't have anything special against Betty - Betty is so... I don't know. Ok. She is too OK. She seems a decent person, kinda sweet, but... that's all.

She is too ok, which is better in my book, Cindy is a major turn off for me because she' the usual bully girl who falls for the kid genius cliche.

I understand exactly how Cindy feels, perhaps that's why I love her so much (that doesn't mean I approve everything she does).

She mocks Jimmy because he stole her status of 'girl genius', and I agree that's not right and etc, but she's just a kid!

Then, she starts developing feelings for the boy she was supposed to hate. Believe or not, Cindy is AFRAID of showing her soft side... she looks and acts like a badass because she can't stand being so vulnerable in front of everybody else. We can see this in Stranded when she says to Jimmy 'and I know I'm not supposed to like you, but being here on this island, away from school, grades, makes me realise how ridiculous that is. You're a really cool person'. When she's alone with Jimmy, on the island, she feels secure enough to relax and to be more straightforward, not afraid of judgments or anything else. She is shy - even though she doesn't look like.

Anyway, I love Cindy

But, what if years of trying to be the best catch up with her when she gets older then bam, she goes insane?

Well, I don't think that's gonna happen.

She's gonna get older and see things with new - and more mature - perspectives. I mean, I used to do very childish and stupid things when I was 11 and I don't do them anymore. You change a lot during this period of life. This obsession about being the best at school is not so present in 3rd season, for example.
Besides, Cindy is better than Jimmy in a lot of stuffs.

I wonder why people go gaga over Cindy? Is it because she's a little rough?

Urvy, I must confess that I don't know why, but I always liked this kind of character (like Helga, Rei - Sailor Moon -, Akane - Ranma 1/2, etc etc)... I admire all of them because, though they don't have the best temper ever (sort of like me), they love passionately and they're strong and dynamic female characters.

Since I'm little I love this kind of female character.

When I saw the JN movie for the first time, I had no doubt that Cindy was amazing
