I know, it's great that Mara has help and everything, it's just really weird that an ex-regular member is the admin. Three members, actually... it's really freaky to see Katie, who I still sort of see as a newbie, being an actual admin. XD

Actually, everybody that was online volunteered to help when that happened. I was actually the first one to reply. And I know she's not a newbie anymore, she's just the newest of, like, the senior members, I guess. (Lol, I bet Katie's gunna see this later and wonder why we're talking about her randomly.) But whatever, I just miss when everyone was equal [well, okay, everyone knew that Krista and Gwen were a little less equal because Mara was best friends with them] and there was one admin. Now it's like four admins and what, 8 or 9 regular members? I almost feel like being a regular member is a demotion or punishment or something. I'm weird, I know.

Technically, I'm not an admin, lol. I just have access to an admin account. But my normal account is no different from anyone else's, and I don't have any "power" or anything like that over anyone. The only thing I get to do is delete porn. Whoopdeedoo? Lol.

And the reason Flank and I were assigned this is because we PMed Mara first. Her request was for a PM if you were offering, and other people just replied to her post. So unless other people PMed her before Flank or I did, then I don't think we were chosen "special" or anything. Only Mara knows who PMed her in what order, of course, lol.

So yeah, I hope no one here thinks Flank or I are like...at a level different than anyone else. We're just porn police, and handlers of minor forum mishaps. There was no promotion, as you can see by our member titles remaining the same as all ya'll's. ;)

Yeah, it was Mara and Ally, but Ally left the forums pretty soon after I joined. (Or maybe longer than I think. I dunno, my memory's a little fuzzy.) Also, there were practically no changes back then, too, so Ally hardly every did anything.

It might have also been because Ally was a co-founder, so she started off as an admin, unlike randomly getting bumped up one day.

Really, tonight? And lol, oh. Why did Alex say he needed to keep it, by the way? And haha, yeah, I know.

I do agree, though, that having "members" and "senior members" is pretty weird. Post count doesn't have all that much to do with how involved you are in the community.

I'd definitely be for putting everyone back under one category there. I mean, we already have different titles (superposter, IDOJ addict, etc) demonstrating post count levels. Having a second title to say the same thing just seems a bit redundant, and could hurt the feelings of some long-time members who just haven't made it to 1200 yet. There is already pressure enough on people to get the "swirly icon", so why add to it?

Oh, and the Senior Member thing is basically just a security precaution. In fact, I actually was recommended to do this by the Invision staff.

They said many bots that register take advantage of some of the upload settings DOHTML and things like that. What I'm doing is making the senior members have more flexibility while keeping bots from having that same flexibility (because they aren't going to get 1,200 posts ;) I also chose 1,200 because that's when you 'dream of jimmy').
Think of it like getting a regular status upgrade (like from average joe to superposter) but when you get to the status of 'dreaming of Jimmy' you get more privileges.

So yeah. That'd be all. :P The senior group is not being discriminatory. And lots of other boards use this very successfully, too. :)


Another thing: I've been here awhile too; almost as long as you, Sunny. I just don't post as much. :onfire:

OK, let me respond to all the various queries and anxieties that seem to be popping up.

1) While I understand your feelings, Sunny, it's a lot of work handling this all be me onesy. Sometimes it's nice to get a helping hand. I'm very grateful for all the work Alex has done to assist in maintaining the site...he's reliable, trustworthy and (aside from the occasional color massacre ;) - colors are obviously my department) he knows what he's talking about. But don't worry - I assure you, as soon as finals are over, I will have much more time to devote to all of you :wub:

2) Please keep in mind that this happened during the great Porn crisis of '08 :bock: While it is true that Katie was in fact the first person to volunteer via PM, the main reason I chose Katie and Flank is because they are ADULTS. No offense to Sunny or anyone else who applied for the position, but I didn't want to explain to some kid's parents why their son/daughter was being forced to contain a porn epidemic. :rolleyes:

Since then their role has shifted a little (you know, to moving topics into the correct forum, or to deleting no-no words, or to uploading stuff for me) - but they don't have some sort of magical Thor-like power (especially since we changed the forum setting so that users could delete their own posts).

3) Ally was never an admin on the forums. Sure, she had admin access, but (as far as I know) she never signed in to the Admin CP. Ally was an admin on the mainsite...by the time we started the forums, she had already started drifting away from the JN fandom.
