Dooo ittttt! :D It is super satisfying. Do you have the Masterpiece Edition? That comes with a hint feature. Also, if I get stuck and can't figure out what to do, I usually go to uhs-hints.com. If nothing else, looking at the list helps me figure out what puzzles there are to solve.

Just letting you know, Myst is probably the easiest. Riven was next to impossible without a hint site, though Exile and Revelation were a little easier than Riven, but still harder than Myst.

I found the hardest puzzle was figuring out which parts of the wold are puzzles. I assume you are right on this one being the easier. After the first couple puzzles, I knew what the look for.

I love choose your own adventure stories ^_^ I'm not sure why, but they're just so fun and immersive that I can't get enough of them. I think I'd like to write, illustrate, and program my own otome game one day. I bet I could make it 999x less sexist than the usual fare ;) I'd have to get someone to do the music for it, though...lord knows I have no musical talent.

I'd totally play that!

...out of curiosity, I'm now wondering how those games are typically programmed... hmm...

Pretty sure most of them use C++ and Python.

It was because wikis should not be clicked on before you finish the games. But yeah, I want to go back and try the other two bad endings. There are three of them.

[spoiler]Did you notice that you can defeat the entire game without ever leaving Myst Island? I thought that was hilarious when I finally finished. You can't do that in the other games, though. It was a one-time deal.]

I suppose if you already knew what the ripped note said and which off the 200 combinations to use. I did succeed in getting all four ending (all?) becasue I had created an extra save file in case the game deleted the first one again.

Yeah. There are videos on Youtube of people beating the game in under three minutes. You have to have played all the way through in order to realize that this is all possible, though.

Just played one route on "Number Days" a free flash game made by a buddy of mine on Deviantart. It was pretty cute! She did a good job.

Premise: You (the player) find yourself trapped in an amusement park with a bunch of strangers. Your phones each display a number...and when that number reaches 0, you disappear from the park. It's up to you to figure out what causes the number shifts, and whether the force behind the situation is evil or good. There are 8 different endings, depending on which of the strangers you become friends with/develop a crush on.

The answer to "the last video game you played" will, for me, always be Robot Unicorn Attack.

And yes, I vote it counts as a video game. Because it's electronic. And stuff.

It is pretty much the only thing I ever play if I decide to play something.

Just finished To The Moon. It's a short indie adventure game about two scientists to traverse memories to give dying people one last wish. They're working with a new patient whose wish it to go to the moon, but he can't remember why. So as the doctors, you have to go through his memories, create links to transfer the desire to his childhood, and along the way, you figure out why this man wants to go to the moon.

So many emotional parts. I literally teared up a few times while watching the cut scenes. The gameplay is really simple and the total amount of time playing it really isn't long at all--I finished in about a day. But it was so beautiful. Everyone should play it ^_^

(and if you decide you want to, just PM me or whatever and I can send you the .exe file. I bought it from GOG.com so it's DRM-free. Same thing for most of the games I mention playing on here.)

Mara, what would you think if a fan of yours managed to make a TOSOT otome game somewhat like these??

Em, have you ever played a visual novel? It's not something some tech-savvy person could just whip together. Programming the game isn't the hardest part. I could do it myself with an engine like Ren'Py. It's really more of a creative endeavor, requiring collaborative work between a writer (or writers) who craft the multiple story routes, a background artist who handles scenery, a foreground artist who draws the characters you interact with in-story, a CG artist who illustrates the cut-away scenes you obtain as rewards for certain choices, AND a music person who puts together the sound effects and instrumentals for the game.

If you want to play an otome, I have a number of already-existent games that I can recommend.

I...don't think I'd play it, because that would be weird. I wouldn't want to play an otome game with fandom characters, for the same reason I can't stand those ReaderxCharacter fanfics narrated in the second person. It just feels self-insert-y and awkward.

Last played Pokémon White for Nintendo DS. Have seven badges so far; own 30-something pokémon and have seen 90-something different individual kinds. I'd say that's pretty sweet progress!! ^_^

Just finished playing The Walking Dead, season 1 (the video game, the TV show and the comic are separate, but they number the games as 'seasons').

Saddest, most heart wrenching game I've ever played. I'll admit I was sobbing at the end, I didn't even care my roomate was in the room. No game will be as dark, as gritty, or as tense as that one was, and that's coming from a guy who fully played through 'No Russian'. The game itself is more like an interactive movie where your choices dictate people's attitudes and survival. That being said, there are plenty of times where you are free to move around the environment, so it's not like you are trapped. All of the game's power lies in its story and your involvement in it. You have to make many serious moral choices, some even coming as split second decisions. I highly reccomend it if you're into that kind of stuff.

If you're interested in playing it, don't google anything on it- spoilers will come up since season 2 (basically the sequel) has just come out. Even trailers or pictures of season 1 may spoil the story, so don't watch the trailers either. http://store.steampo...com/app/207610/

The soundtrack is absolutely stunning:

Just finished Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. No games, other than the Zero escape games (the first being 999), have ever taught me so much. I have a good grasp of basic quantum physics thanks to them.

Seriously these games are based on life threatening situations where your decisions throughout can result in some pretty gruesome deaths. I got so invested in the character of Luna that I cried. And although there were a few shouts of, "somebody get that phone coz I CALLED IT!!!" there were an equal number of moments where revelations made me think my head was exploding.

Good game, good game.

Currently working my way through Dragon Age: Origins on Steam (my friend Tim gifted me the game). I'm playing as a human mage - here's my character:
