Lmfao. I seriously doubt Mara would say something like that! xD She might (just because I'm not her and I can't tell you guys what she'd actually do), but I think Mara's just way too nice to say something like that.

OK everyone, it’s time for a big fat massive art love-fest! :bff:

Before I announce the winner of the contest, I want to make some comments on each of your drawings. I can tell you invested a lot of effort and I want to return the favor :D

So here are my comments, in the order your entries were submitted:

I think the coolest feature of your picture is April’s hair. I LOVE the two dyed front strips…mega-cool, and very suited to her personality. Nobody else colored her hair like that, and to tell you the truth I think I like your version better than mine. Black with red strips just seems RIGHT somehow. So 10 points to you! :thumbsup: I also like the decorative flowers you put on Libby’s bathing suit, and the fact that you included both a sun and a moon in the background. In fact, thanks for drawing a background, period. I know they’re wicked hard to do.

What really won me over in this picture was your masterful shading. Getting this kind of effect with colored pencils is no small task, but you’re very good at it! With some practice on Corel, I think you’ll be a shading master! I like your color choices too…Libby looks so pretty, and you managed to make April’s skin look really natural, which is HARD to do with green skin :lol: LOL. Oh, and thanks for remembering to put the little shinies in Aurora and F. Libby’s eyes…very nice attention to detail there, and throughout.

I like what you did with Aurora’s outfit…you don’t usually see her show a lot of skin :bunny: , but I think this is appropriate for a beach scene. I know how ridiculously hard it is to color on paint…the lines won’t fill it, the color choice is limited, but I think you did a nice job considering your resources. So thanks again for entering! *.*

Nice cloth retraction on Aurora’s outfit! Another good example of making her beach-worthy. You did a very nice job shading Aurora’s skin, and I love the color you chose for F. Libby’s bikini. Scarlet is such a bold, sexy color <3 … and the gold in her hair and on her top lends a decadent feel. The big shinies in F. Libby’s eyes make her look so cute and feminine…nice touch! And somehow the way you did April’s eyes gives her glance such a mischievous look. Great job all around!

5) Lily Knotwise, a qui la tour? A toi! :blink: click to view

I would like to begin by pointing out that pastels are the single most difficult medium with which to color a picture EVER. :wacko: No kidding. You are very brave for having used them, and you actually did a nice job. I like how you made the tubing on Aurora’s suit multi-toned…a nice break from the traditional silver. My other favorite part of this picture is April’s green hair (heck, why not, everything else on Gorlocks is green, right? ;) ) and her two-toned, light colored bathing suit. It’s a very pretty color mix, and very different from the other entries. Nice creativity! PS. your character was my fave – not to mention he was the only male character submitted! We sure are reverse sexist on this board! LOL

Your coloring is, really really amazing. It’s so incredibly smooth…I don’t know how you managed to attain that level of regularity and smoothness using traditional media. It looks almost like you did it on filter paper. My favorite part of the picture is April’s face and makeup. The purple eyeshadow is so killer LOL. Libby’s lipstick is also pretty darn adorable…drawing makeup should be your thing! HAHA ;)

I just love what you did with Aurora’s outfit! :kawaii: It’s a very feminine, soft pink, and I think it was a great choice. She should go to the beach more often LOL. Again, for paint this is quite an achievement. F. Libby’s purple bikini really looks cute too…besides red, I always thought purple was a great color for her. She looks good in warm colors. I like the green hairbands holding F. Libby’s braids…a nice break from the traditional gold. Nice job exploring innovative colors!

Well, now that I've rambled on and on about how much I love your artwork, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for. Who is the winner? :o

Considering your media, I think you did a great job with the colored pencils. What really made this the winning entry in my eyes, though, was the use of highlights. Shading is all well and good, but it's those highlights that catch my eye! Great job!

Actually, all I did was smudge the colours with my finger... No special secret unfortunately. :unsure:

Heh. I remember one time when there wasn't tissue paper around, and I had to use my finger to smudge this picture I was doing with shading. OMG. My finger was all metallic-y. Lead poisoning, EEEEEE!! *Rubs finger insanely on jeans*
