I don't really have many headcanons that I'm particularly sold on. I really like the one about Cecil having purple eyes, and dressing really dapper for work My only other headcanon is that the third eye that people seem to love giving him in fanart isn't a real eye, but either a tattoo or just a symbol of some type of clairvoyant ability.

Interesting. I always imagined Carlos as falling somewhere along the asexual/demisexual spectrum. I kinda pictured him as one of those nerdy science people who was never particularly interested in romance or sex...until he suddenly found himself developing feelings for Cecil. I like to think it snuck up on him

 

Yep, like I said, demisexual.

 

Its common for a lot of science-minded characters to be headcanoned as asexual, which I get, but sometimes that cliché becomes a little boring for me, so I tweaked it a bit for Carlos.

 

And I also like the idea that it never really occurred to him whether he was attracted to girls, or guys, or both, or neither. He never really thought about it and just focused on studying and working (and maybe family or whatever else he's into). Until the events of One Year Later when he clearly knew that he liked Cecil. That's what I mostly meant by it. I imagine him just sitting on the trunk of his car waiting for Cecil, thinking to himself, "Huh. I guess I like guys now. Or at least this guy."

 

 

You know, this is actually something feminists talk about a LOT when discussing sexism in the media. Personally, I think it's so, SO important to have books/movies/games/whatever that just normalize being a woman or normalize being gay or normalize being a POC. Like, have those things be no big deal in the world of the story. I've heard people screech their heads off about "erasing people's struggles" or whatever, but you know what? People live those struggles every day IRL. Sometimes it's nice to take a vacation from all that shit, and not be constantly reminded "oh, you're a woman in a man's world" or "oh, society is going to judge you because of your love life". I've gotten to the point in my life where I'm actually tired of reading books about female characters overcoming sex-based discrimination. I just want to see them doing all the same shit men are doing, and have no one in the story question it. And while I can't speak on behalf of all gay people, I have discussed this issue with my lesbian friend Chelsea and gay friend Chris, and they feel the same way about the portrayal of homosexual/bisexual relationships in stories. Sometimes it's nice to just imagine a place where people face a different set of inequalities, lol.

 

I saw you talk about this subject in the "Frozen" topic, and instantly thought of Night Vale.  I think its a great example of a series doing it right. Glad you agree.

This probably also stems from my thinking about how friggin' cool and badass Cecil would look with a cigarette, but, ya know. What's brilliant is brilliant.

 

 

It never occurred to me that Cecil has control over the weather. I always imagined it to be something...supplied by the station, or by some higher force. Like, Cecil just flicks the "weather" switch, and whatever plays, plays. Much like how real weather cannot be chosen, but rather just is.

 

That could be it, too. As I stated, I love Weather headcanons. I used to think they were planned weeks in advance by station management. Or some other entity. Or the Glow Cloud. Or Khoshekh's kittens! Who on earth knows? I hope we never do!

 

Or maybe it just is, like in nature. Afterall, our weather isn't decided by how we're feeling. It could be beautiful out and we'd still be miserable do to other events. Or we could be having a great day during a horrific storm. So that works, too. Almost all of my weather headcanons, or those I see and like, contradict each other!

 

Cecil picking them out is probably my favorite, though! Just because I like thinking of him having an extremely diverse and unique taste in music.

Part A of the anniversary episode! I finally heard it! YES!

A day late, but well worth the wait!

Oh my gosh, so much is happening!  

Lauren opening up the show before Cecil's even introduced! Terrifying! But her and Kevin summing up everything "wrong" with the town is fascinating. Because as much as you want to jump up and defend the town, they almost sound like they have a point. We know they're evil and want them out, but if this were the first time you were ever hearing about Night Vale, completely out of context, you would think they're right, that this place does "need help" and that Strex are the good guys. That's why its so interesting that they wrote this for the introduction of the two year anniversary, after we've already gotten to know and love the town for all of its flaws and imperfections.

The election is finally here! Not the best timing, ya know, we have a revolution going on and all. lol I'm a bit sad to see this campaign arc come to an end, but still, Faceless Old Woman FTW!

Kevin sassing and talking back to Lauren! Whoo! More little hints that he actually doesn't like her and may just be putting on an act, hating every second of this with a great deal of subtly! I gasped so much at "I'm pretty sure I didn't ask for your feedback." Go Kev!

Tamika telling off and standing up to Lauren, oh my god, what a badass! This was the first time I've heard her voice! Love it! Very fitting!

Cecil and Carlos's interactions! Their reunion was so touching and adorable and hilarious (you were right about the jokes in this being great, Mara, I didn't expect it to be this funny)! Dana's helping him to come home! And Carlos and Dana talking and being friends, and Dana saying Carlos is brave while Carlos calls her smart, and gahhh, this all makes me so happy! They both mean so much to Cecil, so it was about time we heard the three of them talk so sweetly as friends!~

Cecil has tumblr? Night Vale has TUMBLR?! I am about 1,000% sure they did that joke just because they know a majority of the fans live and breathe on tumblr, but I'm just going to headcanon anyway that their tumblr is separate from the rest of the world's, because the very thought of NV citizens being able to see all of our bullshit on there kinda freaks me out. lol But if it does exist, I guess it only makes sense that a person as creative, social, and dorky as Cecil would be on it. Of course he is. (Also, I want to see fanart of those Khoshekhh carvings!)

Maureen is so bitter about the life of a NVCR intern, its hilarious! Especially compared to Dana, who's been through so much and yet is so sweet and grateful, to hear one of the former interns just go off about this bullshit absolutely killed me. Its like nobody every mentions how ridiculous and dangerous the job is, so for her to finally address it two years later was so much fun!
 

At least two new favorite lines in this:
1) "...looking for a certain little girl. No, a young woman. No. A human being."
2) "I'm not a hero. I'm a scientist!" (I agree with whoever on tumblr said that needs to be a on a t-shirt.)

This had such a perfect balance of cute and dorky Cecil, and BAMF Cecil! Usually an episode is mostly one or the other, so loving that we got a nice dose of both!

 

You're so lucky you already know how this ends, but you still tell me nothing!

Before I heard Condos I didn't know if I'd like hearing the audience reactions throughout the whole thing, but it actually does make it really fun! Its the second best thing to being there in person, I assume.
