Jk jk. Guess I will have to think of something better. Or at least something different lol
Hmmm…
Does Tex have a favorite food? Actually… this question goes for the sheriff or Libby too. Go where your muse takes you.

I feel like Jimmy's favorite food is actually Libby's jambalaya. I mentioned that he demands she put aside extra for him whenever she makes it, plus he built those traps "for her" (for him).
Libby likes sweets, so I'm thinking red velvet cake for her, because that shit is amazing.
Tex's favorite food is honey-roasted pecans, which are portable, snackable, and sweet. I saw a recipe for them in a Texas cookbook, and they looked really tasty.

Tex and Sheriff both love coffee and are probably caffeine addicts.
Libby likes any tea with bergamot in it.
Carbonated root beer won't make it to market for another year (1876), but I feel like that'll be a smash hit in Retro Valley when it comes out. Ice cream soda was invented around the same time (1874). The 1870s and 80s were jam-packed with soft drink debuts, including Dr. Pepper and Coca Cola. Sheen's got some good years ahead of him.

Does Libby enjoy any other hobbies other than being observant AF and singing? (I love this girl so much. I want to hug her)

I feel like she hosts a million social events for the female townsfolk, with card games, crafting, and other such pastimes. For solitary endeavors, I'm thinking reading, gardening, cooking, sewing, and making pleasant-smelling soaps/salves/potpourris. She could probably make perfumes, but she doesn't need to, because people keep buying them for her.

that is fabulous. I love that!
I love her so much. Wait… Does this mean that there are other people who admire her other than sheen or is it more friendly? I mean…
Frankly, she should have the entire town bowing down before her.
It's just what happens when word gets out that you enjoy a certain thing. Like how I get a giant heap of bird-related stuff every Christmas, no matter what else I have on my list ![]()

I still think the entire town should be half in love with her.
I'm sure several people are. But most of the town is white, and laws against miscegenation are still very much a thing in 1875. I actually need to research whether Texas was one of the states that permitted Mexicans to marry black people (some states did, some didn't - there are records of such couples traveling out of state to obtain marriage licenses, just like gay couples did prior to Obergefell).
Also, as a fucked up aside, did you know that Alabama didn't repeal its anti-miscegenation laws until 2000? 40% of Alabamans voted against the repeal. 40 fucking percent were like "nah, black people shouldn't be allowed to marry white people". In 2000!! Vermont and Minnesota are among the small group of states that never banned interracial marriage of any kind, so we have that going for us, I guess.

Ah, I found it. Apparently, ethnic Mexicans were considered white by Texas officials, so marriages between blacks and Mexicans were illegal under the state’s anti-miscegenation laws. However, there is no evidence that any such couples in Texas were ever prosecuted for violating this law. In fact, by the turn of the century, two counties in south Texas had the highest rates of interracial marriages involving at least one black spouse in the United States.
So I guess it was illegal, but also super common, and so nobody got in trouble for it. Funny how that works.
(Looks like Sheen and Libby will still have to go down to Mexico to get their marriage license, though).

Also, me lookin’ at them getting a marriage license… like helloooooo?!?
I'm thinking I'll write their wedding as an epilogue or something. Seems fun.
