Maybe the writers were trying a few things out with Betty, to see how far she'd get as a "likable" love interest of Jimmy in the fandom, but when they saw it was an immediate blow-out, (before I came into the JN fandom that is :P) they quickly gave JxCers a reason to calm down & forget about Betty- "Vanishing Act".
That last "Betty centered" episode was OBVIOUSLY just made so that JxCers would get off their backs, not get sued, & give themselves more time to work on JxC's relationship.
I mean really, they didn't even bother to fully animate the little "chat"! (it was still in that "liney" part of the animation devolpment!)
Because after reviewing JUST the part of that special feature "making of JN" on the first movie's DVD version, I saw that the "liney" part in Vanishing Act, is how the animators start building the characters.
So they obviously just put that part on VA so that Betty haters would leave well enough alone & have their little feild day with JxC.
Think about it: didn't Betty's character seem "off" in that "chat" with Cindy? She's NEVER been shallow beforehand, but here, she showed that slightly shallow side of her, so I believe that was only thrown in to get the JxCers off of the JN crew's backs.
But what if the JxB-ness had been more accepted, hm? Then there might've been a chane that the writers would've done Vanishing Act a little better, withOUT the chat, & they'd have given Betty more air-time as well.
Only 4 episodes devoted to her? Psh, like the writers actually would try to devolp Betty a little more, & give more depth to the JxB relationship with all those hardcore, "hate any other couple within the two" JxCers out there.
Look at the Timmy love triangle. It's pretty evened out, both Trixie AND Tootie have generally devolped characters, & both fandoms seem pretty fair with each other.
But because TimmyxTootie lovers quickly dominated the scene, (no offense to ANY of you, I'm just stating my opinions! :() the FOP writers immdiately sought to degrade Trixie's wonderful character with that blasted "Just The Two of Us." <_<
I'm not saying the episode ITSELF is bad, I'm just saying the view of TRIXIE'S CHARACTER is badly butchered in this episode.
Same thing with Betty.
While she stayed true to her character around the others, her "chat" with Cindy seemed a little off, it wasn't even fully animated for cryin' out loud!
I highly doubt Betty's creator, (whether it was John himself, or one of the other crew members) had this in mind for her. He or she might've thought "hey, Timmy has two main love interests, & it works for the fans, so why not try the same idea with Jimmy? But he already has a rude girl as his love interest, so this new one should be a nicer version!", or similar.
But it OBVIOUSLY was a blow-out within the fandom, so Betty's creator was probably forced into making her character declare she had no feelings for him, in order to prevent getting seud or something else.
Anyhow, the basic idea here is that if the JimmyxBetty idea had been more accepted within the fanbase, then it would've had more chance to grow, & the writers would've devolped Betty's character a little more.
But NO, I'm not bashing or flaming ANY JxCers, Lord knows I know better.
I'm simply saying what I think the reason for why Betty's chat with Cindy in Vanishing Act came about, & what might've happened if fans had accepted JimmyxBetty more.

I don't have anything against the Betty Quinlan character. It's just that, well, she's a minor character. And dramatically speaking, her sole purpose on the show is to make Cindy crazy with jealousy. Nothing more.

Yes, this is a kids show so I don't think they'd do anything that complex :)I think you're putting way too much thought into this. :) To me, it was apparent even in the movie that there was something there between Jimmy and Cindy.

I know JxC has to happen, but I can still have my own view of it, & there's always fanfictions. ^_^

Or maybe it was the creators and writers way to show her true colorsThink about it: didn't Betty's character seem "off" in that "chat" with Cindy? She's NEVER been shallow beforehand, but here, she showed that slightly shallow side of her, so I believe that was only thrown in to get the JxCers off of the JN crew's backs.

My point is you DON'T KNOW.
So if you want to stand by your statement, that's fine. Just so long as you accept the fact that I will stand by my statement too. -_-

I know and I respect that, but I don't think the way Betty acted and what she said was a mistake or a slip up, I think they were put in on purpose so people would know that even though she likes Jimmy she just doesn't like him in that way :)OR maybe it might've been an error like Sheen mentioning his mother & little sister in the first season.

Besides, it's a TELEVISION SHOW. It's not even real and J/C is nothing more than something to keep a group of people entertained. J/B is something that's been used on every sitcom for, like, EVER. Boy falls for popular girl. Girl that's friend of boy gets jealous. Not-popular girl ends up with the guy in the end. It's nothing to lose your heads over people! My God.
Goodness, if the creators thought this much fighting was going on, do you think they'd even HAVE J/C or J/B? It would just freaking be about a freaking boy genious going on freaking adventures with his two freaking best friends and two freaking girls to even things out. Maybe Betty would pop in once or twice to do that kind of sitcom episode but that's it.
No disrespect to any groups, J/C or J/B.

bold mineJ/C is nothing more than something to keep a (very bossy, I might add) group of people entertained.
*raises eyebrows* bossy? How are we bossy?

& as forwhy you JxCers are so bossy, I'd rather let Gwen answer that as I'm not sure how to exactly..
Anyway, I kind of only made this thread for JxB SUPPORTERS or RESPECTERS, so why are all these JxB haters doing here for, other than to put down my favorite couple? ;)
Not counting Gwen, Krista & mastercj of course, I meant those that are coming down on Betty & the JxB pairing.

I was just curious how we are bossy. And I admit some do go to the extreme sometimes, but we're not all like that ^_^

To give our opinion on the subject but if it'll make you feel better I'll stay out of here (even though I don't consider myself a J/B hater), I can't speak for everyone else though :D

i don't actually think like that i just used this signiture cause i really don't like j/b and i thought it was kinda a way of exspessin it!I was merely suggesting that you people seem to want J/C to be the ONLY group. I don't know. You may be very nice and respect other people's opinions (which I'm sure you do). But I find that some people are like, "No! J/C forever! J/B sucks! I WANT J/C!!!!" That kind fo thing. No one has actually submitted that in words but it seems to be implied in some people's messages. And I admit, I was exaggerating. Most of you J/C shippers are really nice. I'm sorry if I offended you in anyway.

no offense to anyone i have my opinion and you have yours

I just didn't nessecarily MEAN the word "hate", but the description I gave.
Either way, I honestly didn't mean to offend anyone, & since I'm supposedly now the "official" leader of J/B's entire fandom, however small a group we are, I do promise that I will ALWAYS respect & try to understand everyone else's opinions, & please forgive me if it sounds like I might not be, when I really am trying to. :(

Well, to stay on-topic, I've FINALLY figured out that windows movie maker. Turns out I had the wrong VERSION of it on my other computer, & my $80 dollar (!!!!!!!!) one has the correct version, so I can take screenshots of virtually ANY Jimmy Neutron episode I can download!
This of course means I will be exhibiting ALL J/B & Betty Quinlan screenshots in the Fan-Art section by the end of the week! :D

CONGRATS!Well I certainly didn't mean for anyone to be offended, & I'm very sorry if any of you were, but what I mean by "haters" is that you guys are SO into the idea of J/C that, while you MAY respect & understand other people's opinions & favorites, you just seem to be under the idea of "J/C ONLY, down with any other J or C pairs!" or stuff LIKE that.
I just didn't nessecarily MEAN the word "hate", but the description I gave.
