It does make very little sense. If you're going to write a children!fic, mpreg just seems like a strange kind of copout.

I do have to concur about the pregnant Carl episode. I watched it part of the way once, but that was about it. It was a little uncomfortable for me to watch too. =/

I don't have a problem with mpreg as long as it's explained in a way that makes sense, which doesn't happen very often.
And about the pregnant Carl episode, I don't really mind because it's an alien. When it comes to aliens, I let pretty much everything fly.

I believe mpreg was influenced by the 1994 movie, Junior directed by Ivan Reitman, who also directed Ghostbusters. I wonder if that movie inspired that ep, and mpreg in general?

I think mpreg's probably been around for longer than that, but possibly the concept was introduced to a wider audience thanks to that movie.

Sometimes that can get annoying, if the story is ok-but-not-supermegagood. That's why I ditched my old fanfiction account AND my old email - because I was subscribed to so many authors and stories that it would take too long to delete them all.
If you really like the story, though (and it's not TOO long), then frequent updates can be a good thing.

I also do not get the concept of younger kids having crushes on older people, I guess that's a part of JN fanfics I despise, because it borders in the line of pedophilia...
