Emily, if Mara has indeed revealed to you how TOSOT will end, I suggest you keep your comments to yourself about them unless they're along the lines of a "Good job" or a "I really liked it when/didn't like it when ________ happened." Anything you post here even as innocent as your comment to Jessi about her theory, can almost be considered a spoiler, and frankly while I'm dying to know the end, I would much rather read it as Mara posts it than know in advance. It makes it more suspenseful that way and I need some suspense to keep me suspended. I would suggest also not posting on this topic specifically until TOSOT is complete.

I will compare this to what would happen if a noisy little terrier finally caught up with the car that goes zipping past his front yard every day without fail:

He wouldn't know what to do with it when he caught it.

Without Aurora waltzing through the universe with April and Nav wasting scout ships and defending planets, there would be no fun anymore. If Aurora is killed, the game he's been playing for 10 years is over. It's the reason he let her go the first time.

Besides, he likes making her squirm

If there are any conquered civilizations who were in sympathy with DJ (and to my knowledge there isn't), Aurora would be captured. She's essentially as bad as one of the Seven Samarkandi. Everyone who's in league with her KNOWS that she's a criminal (under the Dictator's laws, that is). But it's the lesser of two evils. Either associate with a small criminal to take down a bigger one or face the consequences of standing alone.

And if she wasn't captured, Aurora would become similar to her counterpart from 10 years ago: a piece of cosmic driftwood. All she's ever visualized of her future is more battles, more killing, more espionage, and more angst. She (as far as we know) has never contemplated what would happen if she won. Aurora would be lost without the Dictator.

Because of the decisions made 10 years ago, Aurora and the Dictator's destinies have become more blended and intertwined than any others in the universe.

1.) This is a speculation topic, Emily. It doesn't mean that any of the things that have been suggested will occur in TOSOT. We toss ideas out there and discuss them.

2.) I seem to recall Mara once mentioning that she wrote the ending a long time ago. No one is giving her ideas.

The ending is almost entirely written already. I've read it, which is how I know. Anything people suggest in here is not going to change what Mara has written (well, in any major way).

Some of the predictions in here are closer to the real ending than others, but I'm not going to give any hints as to which ones are. In the meantime, people shouldn't panic. Mara knows what she's doing. Have faith in her. Epic things are on their way.
