Chapter 13: A Little Dramatic Acting...


When Jimmy heard Cindy's request, he wasn't baffled; he was shocked. He couldn't believe she'd actually had the courage and nerve to suggest such a thing! He didn't know what to say; he just stood there, eyes widened and mouth largely agape.

"Neutron, I asked you something...," Cindy reminded him, waving her hand in front of his face, then snapping her fingers, "Are you going to answer me or what?! Earth to Neutron!!!"

"Wha-?!" he exclaimed, slapping himself back to reality, a smile slowly appearing on his face as he asked, "What?? Did you just... ...ask me OUT?! Or am I just hallucinating??!"

"Yeah, I did, and you're not hallucinating," she informed him firmly but gently, "So, will you??"

"Let me give it some thought, and I'll get back to you on it in a while," Jimmy promised her.

What they didn't know was that Alexis had seen and heard the entire thing, and she was going to act on it according to what she wanted from him, socially, emotionally, and possibly physically.

"Okay," Cindy agreed, and went back to join Libby and the others.

Right then, Alexis ran out of hiding and grabbed his arm, catching him completely off guard. She then took him forcefully to the remotest corner of the lab against his will before he had a chance to protest.

Once they were alone, she grabbed his arm again and pulled him close so she could kiss him.

But Jimmy pushed her away firmly and demanded, "What is the meaning of this, Alexis?!!"

"You belong with me, not that sassy, blond jerk you claim to like!!" she snapped.

"Look...," he reprimanded her, "Cindy already asked me out, and I am seriously considering accepting her request."

"Oh, NO, you don 't!! Either go out with me, or you'll regret the day you were born!!! Do NOT tell anyone we had this conversation, or else you'll be sore in places you didn't even know you HAD!! Don't even tell Cindy, especially, about this, or you'll rue this day bitterly for the rest of your life!! Are we clear on that?!" Alexis hissed bitterly.

"Yes, w-we are? Alexis, I'm utterly appalled at you! I really had expected you to act better than this! I thought you knew better! What do you have to say-?!" Jimmy began to scold, but was interrupted by her hysterical laughter.

"Oh, GOSH, Jimmy!!" she roared between guffaws, "I can't believe you FELL for that!! You are the most gullible guy I have ever met!!! Of course I'm okay with you going out with Cindy! It's alright; I'm cool with it!"

"But you made it so believable!" he exclaimed.

"I just happen to be a good actress, is all...," Alexis replied coolly after she finally calmed down.

"Well," Jimmy said thoughtfully, "I'm glad you're actually okay with it, because I am actually gonna date her." Then he walked back to the group with her, hollering, "Oh, Miss Vortex!!"

"Can I help you, Neutron??" Cindy wanted to know, walking up to him.

"The answer is 'yes'," he informed her.

"Really?! You will, Jimmy??!" She could hardly believe her ears.

"Yes, I will, Cindy," Jimmy told her, taking her hands in his.

"Oh, my gosh, Jimmy, THANK you!!" Cindy cried happily, embracing him in a big bear hug, which he gladly returned.

Little did Jimmy know that Libby'd gone to the school website though VOX, somehow, and posted a long article about Jimmy and Cindy's alleged "relationship" because of what had happened between them a short while ago, and the school's reaction to it was anything but ordinary...

Chapter 14: Libby Blabs All With No Effect...


"Well, it was bound to happen sometime," Nick commented about what he'd read on the school website, on the following day which was a Monday.

Seeing Jimmy and Cindy walking into the school while holding hands, Britney observed, "Like, I didn't know they'd serious about this, Betty!"

"Neither did I, Britney!" Betty exclaimed, very surprised.

Overhearing his friends and classmates saying these things as they made their way to class, Jimmy replied calmly, "It's true, after all, my fellow classmates."

"That's right!" Cindy agreed as they walked into Miss Fowl's classroom and took their seats with the others.

But when they saw Miss Fowl wearing a sunhat, sunglasses, a floral lei, a Hawaiian shirt and skirt, and brightly colored floral flip-flops, the entire class was abuzz with indistinct chatter. Why would she be dressed this way?

Breaking the chatter, Miss Fowl announced, "Attention, students! This week, I'll be taking a vacation. This will be your temporary suuuubstitute teacher. Please welcome Mr. N!"

"Who the heck is Mr. N?!" Jimmy muttered to himself, then he saw who walked in as the substitute: Seymour Nimmelfarb!

"Thank you, Miss Fowl," he politely thanked her as she left.

"WHAT??!" Jimmy, Cindy, Libby, Sheen, Carl, and Alexis sputtered in unison, frustrated.

Butch, remembering what he'd read on the school website, began taunting them, "Jimmy and Cindy sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

Cindy just giggled and leaned over to Jimmy, saying, "Oh, that Butch! What a hilarious goofball!"

He just laughed and gazed dreamily into Cindy's eyes.

Libby looked at them and told Butch, "Ain't they the cutest?!"

"Alright!" Seymour commanded, grabbing their attention, "If you all are finished, we'll start with a science experiment: finding out how hydrochloric acid reacts with liquid methane."

When Jimmy heard this, he gulped, "Oh, no!"

Cindy leaned over again and sweetly asked, "What is it, Jimmy?"

"Methane!" he urgently told her in hushed tones, "That's what I told you guys that would deactivate the effects of our hi-tech loincloths if exposed to it!!"

"Oh, my gosh!" she gasped in whispers.

"Enough with ther chit-chat!!" Seymour snapped, then added in a calmer tone, "Let's get started, shall we?" With that, he motioned for the class to follow him out of the classroom and to the science lab, which they all did, that is, except Jimmy, Cindy, Libby, Sheen, Carl, and Alexis.

Once they were alone, Jimmy told them firmly, "I will not tolerate the possibility of being utterly humiliated YET again! Let's go!"

"But we can't just cut school!!" Libby protested.

"I understand that, Libby, and that this'll probably go on our permanent records, but we must in order to preserve our sanity! C'mon!" he informed them, leading them out of school and to his lab to get to the bottom of their situation...

Chapter 15: The Search Begins


"Gah...," Cindy groaned, "I can't believe we almost got humiliated AGAIN...!"

"That was almost too close...," Jimmy whole-heartedly agreed, "I'd rather take a chance and get a demerit than embarrass myself again. HOW Seymour found out about the methane's ability to disable the effects of our hi-tech cover-ups, I have no earthly idea. And it will not only disable them, but physically disintegrate them, as well! That would just leave us in the buff and utterly humiliate us yet again! So this is the only way to preserve our sanity, in conclusion!"

"Yeah! What he said!" Sheen interjected helpfully. Then, a few moments later, he protested, "Okay, I am SO bored!!"

"Sheen," Libby snapped, "Shut up."

"Sorry," he muttered.

"Ya know, I really wouldn't have minded what could've happened to us...," Alexis put in, a grin on her face.

Right then, the rest of the gang stopped in their tracks, turned to face her, and gave her a weird look, utterly appalled that she'd say such a thing.

She just shrugged and pondered aloud, "What??"

"Okay, that's the sickest thing I've ever heard!" Libby finally commented, disgusted.

And Jimmy just stared at her with a weirded-out look on his face.

Then Sheen leaned over to him, cupped his hands over his ear, and whispered, "Dude, I think Alexis is gonna be a stripper when she's older..."

Yikes! That explains a lot of her behavior! he thought to himself nervously, I better be more careful around her when I'm speaking to her one-on-one, especially in my lab!

"Ya know, Libs, I'm beginning to wonder if that girl is still a virgin," Cindy whispered to Libby.

But she apparently wasn't quiet enough about it, because Alexis interjected, "No, I'm not. What's so bad about it?? It's completely natural..."

"Yes, it is, but NOT when you're 11!! It's supposed t' be saved fo' marriage!" Libby scolded her.

"I know! But, look, guys, it wasn't intentional. I was raped at age 9! But after I thought about it in depth a few months later, I started to enjoy the actual idea, believe it or not, actually... I was trying for the next year and a half to keep it a secret, but you guys forced it outta me just now...," she admitted finally.

"Girl...," Cindy firmly scolded her, "You need to tell your parents about what happened to you! They deserve to know, Alexis!!"

"You know what? You're RIGHT, Cindy! And I'm going over there right now to tell them!" Alexis informed her, and turned to face her home.

But when she did, she saw a moving van backing out of her driveway and driving off into the distance without her. Then she muttered, "I figured as much..."

"Don't just stand there, Alexis! Go after them!!" Jimmy urged her, giving her a shove in the direction the van had gone, even though he felt awkward when he touched the bare skin of her back.

"Oh, um, did I mention that my parents are very abusive??" she hesitantly added, not budging a bit.

"What?! That can't be true, can it?!" Carl gasped, hardly believing his ears.

"Yeah!" Libby agreed, "You're a sweet girl! Granted, a little eccentric, but still kind-hearted!!"

"You don't understand. My father is the one who raped me," Alexis sternly informed the group. Then she added, "My parents could care less about what I look like, so I took the liberty to get the clothes you saw me wearing when we first met, my piercings, and my hair consistently dyed hot pink with purple tips."

"Whoa...," Sheen exclaimed, "Why didn't ya tell the cops about this??"

"He threatened to kill me if I were to breathe ANY word of this to the police! He said that if he knew that I'd told the cops on him, he'd hunt me down, find me, and stab me to death!!" she said to them with fear in her eyes.

"This is much more serious than I'd previously deducted!!" Jimmy gasped, then commanded Goddard, "Goddard, find that moving van, scan its license plate, and take photos of the 2 individuals in it. Then come back to me so I can upload the data on my watch for future reference, okay, boy?"

He barked and departed from them for 20 minutes. Then he returned airborne using "chopper mode" to navigate to and from different locations.

"Did you get all that, Goddard?" Jimmy wanted to know.

He just licked his master's face in a way that could only mean "yes" until he told him to stop. He then uploaded the data Goddard had had gathered onto his watch for future reference.

This case had taken a dramatic turn from trying to get back at Seymour for humiliating the gang to finding Alexis' parents, proving them guilty of rap, child abuse, and possible drug/alcohol abuse, and sending them to jail where they should belong for treating Alexis so horribly her entire life. They were none other than 2 of the FBI's most wanted suspects!

Chapter 16: One Mission On Top Of Another...


"I don't believe it!" Jimmy groaned, "We not only have 1, but 2 problems on our hands: whatever mischief Seymour and my evil clone are up to and Alexis' parents who are mass rapists!!"

"Don't forget; they're 2 of the FBI's most wanted suspects!" Alexis interjected helpfully.

"That's even more serious than I'd previously suspected!!" he exclaimed, horrified, "Our plan to stop Seymour and Evil Jimmy has to be put on hold for the time being due to this much more urgent scenario we've just come across!"

Without a second thought, Sheen declared, "To the LAB!!!"

By that moment, they'd already arrived at his lab. "We're already there, Sheen," Libby told him with a sigh.

"Oh. Well, let's go, then!" he told them.

"Take it easy, Sheen!" Jimmy informed him, pressing a button on his watch that opened the trap door in front of his clubhouse. They all jumped in and landed on the lab's concrete floor with a thud.

Once he righted himself, he immediately sat at his computer chair and began typing furiously.

A short distance away, Alexis and Cindy were observing him hard at work, seated next to eachother. Alexis sighed admiringly as she watched Jimmy and admitted, "Isn't he just so attractive when he's hard at work like that??"

Cindy just rolled her eyes as she remarked, "Pssssshhht, oh, please! The only reason I watch him like this is cuz I get bored. Besides, he's just showing off when he does this... You have NO idea how annoying that gets!"

"Well, that's what you think, Cindy. I think you're just trying to cover up the fact that you really like him!" Alexis told her firmly.

"What?!! You're- You're LYING!!" she sputtered.

"Impossible!" the new girl retorted, "I know a crush when I see one, and you show all the signs of having a MAJOR crush! How long have you been keeping this up, this denial business?"

Libby joined them and interjected, "Ever since 'bout Kindergarten, I b'lieve. And it's gettin' on my last nerve these days!"

"Yeah, I concur," Alexis agreed, "And besides, for your information, Cindy, he is NOT just showing off; he's trying to locate my abusive parents so they can eventually be arrested and put behind bars where they belong!

"I just can't get over how cute he looks when he's as studious as he is now..."

Jimmy couldn't help but overhear the last part of what Alexis had just said as he remained hard at work, chuckling to himself as he thought, How thoughtful of her! She's nothing like "Dork-tex"...

Then he suddenly discovered something horrific. He turned to face his friends and told them urgently, "Guys, we have to leave! NOW!!"

Chapter 17: On the Run From Danger!


“What is it this time, Neutron?!” Cindy snapped, annoyed.

With a fearful expression on his face, Jimmy explained, “If we don't leave my lab within the next 10 minutes, we won't make it out of here alive! I've just detected the presence of a carbon monoxide time bomb located somewhere in my lab, and when it goes off in under 10 minutes, we'll be suffocated to death if we haven't left by then! I'll quickly grab some inventions to put in my hypercube, then I'll attach a string to it so it can hang around my neck, since I don't have pockets at the moment.”

He quickly stuck the ones he'd need into it, then attached a string to it and hung it around his neck. He then teleported the gang out of his lab, and just in time, too. The moment they were outside, they felt a muffled explosion at Magnitude 4 just beneath their feet. But it wasn't strong enough to knock any of them over, well, any of them except for Carl, who accidentally keeled over backwards because of it.

They noticed he fell over right away, and Jimmy asked him, “Are you okay, Carl??”

“My scapula hurts, but I'll be fine,” he replied, rubbing his shoulder. Then he wanted to know, “Did the explosion hurt Goddard?”

“No, of course not! He was teleported out with the rest of us! See??” Jimmy pointed out, pointing at his dog.

Carl looked and saw that Goddard had been with them the whole time.

“My rocket's right over there,” he additionally informed them, “So let's get going!”

As they ran over there, Alexis questioned, “Just where are we going, Jimmy?!”

“As far away from here as we can, Alexis!!!” he urgently responded after they'd gotten in and blasted off into the sky.

As they rode along, each of them looked for places they could take cover at to hide from any potential enemies.

“How about the Candy Bar?” Libby suggested, pointing.

“Nah. Too obvious,” Jimmy told her, shaking his head.

A little while later, Sheen pointed at a dormant volcano and asked, “There?”

“No way! FAR too dangerous!!” he exclaimed, shocked that Sheen actually suggested that location.

Then Cindy pointed at something and added helpfully, “How about in that deserted cave near that jungle??”

“That is the most-,” Jimmy began to snap, then gasped in approval, “-brilliant idea ever, Cindy!!”

“No! What if there are bears, and wol-...!!” Carl started to protest, then gasped, looked at her with the others, and exclaimed with them, “Did he just call her 'Cindy'?!”

“What? So?? That is her name...,” Jimmy told them, then added, “Never mind... Let's prepare for landing!”

Once they'd landed, they all stepped out and Alexis wondered aloud, “Just where exactly are we?!”

“We are in the rural outskirts, just 50 miles west of Sydney, Australia,,” he calmly explained, “Exactly half a world away from our starting point.”

As worried as he usually was, Carl wanted to know, “Are we gonna be able to survive here for a long time??”

“Of course, Carl! As long as we work together, no fatalities or fatal mishaps are guaranteed to befall us,” Jimmy reassured his allergy-prone friend.

Then Cindy sniffed the air near the cave's mouth. “That is definitely not good!” she remarked, pointing into the cave, “Do you guys smell that?! I'm detecting a highly dangerous gas a short distance into this cave!!”

He walked up next to her and commented, sniffing the air in the cave, “So am I, Cindy! We're in the realm of an ancient coal mine, which produces a dangerous gas that miners call 'fire damp'. A single spark could set off an explosion that would kill anyone inside the cave instantly! Luckily, all my instruments I brought with me are battery-powered and not flame-powered, or we'd all be dead. Now, follow me!”

The gang then proceeded to follow Jimmy into the cave, with Goddard lighting the way.

An hour into their trek, he stopped Goddard in his tracks, saying, “That's far enough, boy. We'll camp here until we can get to the bottom of our situation.”

With that, he pulled something out of his hypercube and pressed a button on it.

It's been over 2 months since I last updated, so I figured, "Ah, what the heck? I'll go ahead and post Chapter 18 for them." So here it is!! Enjoy!

Chapter 18: A Temporary Home


The device Jimmy pulled out of his hypercube was his latest creation: the Lab/Home-in-a-Box 9000. When he pressed a button on the top of it and tossed it onto the cave floor, it opened up and began to assemble what was inside it rapidly. The electrical lighting and modern appliances went up first, then came the plumbing and the fixtures that came with it. Next came the furniture and recreational items, and finally the place was stocked with all the food they'd ever need. All this took place because of a spectacular adaptation of nanotechnology, and it all took place in under 5 minutes.

When it was finished, the rest of them just stared at it, awestruck, then at Jimmy for a few moments, then back at his creation.

Noticing that he was being stared at, he asked, “So, what do you guys think of my latest and greatest creation??”

“Totally state of the art!” Carl exclaimed.

“AWESOME!!” Sheen proclaimed, running over to one of the beds and starting to jump on it wildly.

“I love it, Neutron!” Libby told him approvingly.

Alexis and Cindy just stood there for a few moments while taking it all in, then ran up to him, hugged him, and announced in unison, “I adore it, Jimmy!! It's the COOLEST thing I've ever laid eyes on!!”

Jimmy just blinked in astonishment as he looked back and forth between the 2 girls with his mouth slightly agape, then said while gently pushing them away, “I'm glad you both love it, but you can let go of me now...”

They both immediately let go of him and apologized in unison, a little embarrassed, “Sorry, Jimmy, heh-heh!!”

“Quite all right, girls. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get a jump start on our dire situation,” he informed them, and retreated to his temporary lab in the cave to get started on their dire situation.

Meanwhile, Alexis and Cindy were trying to sort through what they'd meant to say back there.

“I did NOT mean to say that back there!!” Cindy protested once Jimmy couldn't hear them.

“Oh, like I'D believe that bunch o' bologna!! You clearly like Jimmy!” Alexis sharply informed her

“Do not!! And why did you say it back there?!” she snapped.

“I'm honest about who I like, whereas YOU stab me in the back with all of your stupid denial!!!” Alexis retorted.

“Well, the least ya could do is stop blabbing about your STUPID quirks!!” Cindy hissed.

“Hey, I have abusive parents, okay?!! I can't help it!!” she practically yelled.

Their arguing caught Libby's attention. She rolled her eyes, looked over at them, and thought sarcastically, Oh, brother... There's another arguin' duo here now... With that, she marched up to them and shouted, “I'm gonna abuse BOTH o' y'all if ya don't KEEP QUIET!!!”

“She's right. There's no use arguing like this, and it never solves anything,” Cindy admitted.

“You're right, Cindy,” Alexis said, holding out her hand, “Truce?”

“Truce,” she agreed, shaking her hand.

As he worked, Jimmy couldn't help but overhear their argument and thought, Jeez, who'd have thought that Alexis could argue as well as Vortex?! I'm glad Libby calmed them down for the time being...

For the rest of the day as he worked, the others found things to keep themselves occupied: Alexis daydreamed as she watched Jimmy work; Carl took a nap and drew some pictures; Sheen played video games the rest of the day; and Cindy and Libby chatted and pranked Carl and Sheen to pass the time. Before they knew it, it was late at night, so they all prepared themselves for bed and retired for the night.

Little did they know of the danger lurking nearby, yet out of plain sight...
