Wow. That ending was intense.

And man, Zuko and his Uncle's reuniting scene had me in tears. I love that old man so much! I lied yesterday and told Mara that Sokka was my favorite, but really, its Uncle.

And Azula went insane. That's fantastic.

And Katara still annoys me to no end, but I'm very happy she and Aang ended up together, because that makes Aang very happy and he deserves to be. She deserves to be happy too, of course, lol, but I was mostly rooting for them because of Aang.

I'm so happy no one died, haha. Now if only TOSOT could follow that example...


All in all, that was a wicked awesome ending. When Aang went in the Avatar state and flew around with all those elements...so awesome.

I know right? When Aang was in the Avatar state with all the elements floating around him, it looked like an atom, and I thought of JN. *brick'd* lol

Zuko is my absolute favorite, followed by Sokka, and then Toph. I hope to be Toph for Halloween this year. I can tell you this, because it is not my Masquerade Costume.

She's not always annoying, lol. Just her overly righteous attitude bothers me...when it gets out of control. She probably reminds me of parts of myself I don't like that much. I find most people that really annoy me are really just reflections of me if I had been SLIGHTLY different somehow in my upbringing or life decisions. Katara lets emotions control her too much, when situations could be better handled/more safely handled by cool logic. It's good for things that require determination. Headstrong is great then. But for less pressing issues, she just comes across as stubborn and unwilling to listen to others. And I don't particularly like how she treats Aang. I get why she treats him the way she does, but I still don't like it, lol.

That all being said, I don't hate her or anything. I think she's pretty freaking awesome. And her water-bending rocks. It's just her attitude that bothers me only when it is overly-emphasized.

For me, Aang's the character that gets on my nerves the most often.

I don't really know why, but sometimes I just want him to shut up and go away.

Strangely, Toph is the one who occasionally irritates me...more so when she first joins the gaang than after. She's just so loud and obnoxious and utterly insensitive - and hey, most of the time that's awesome - but sometimes it gets too be a little too much. She actually reminds me of my good friend Sarah back when she was 12, before she learned to control some of her ruder behaviors.
Like Katie said, I do see something of myself in her - but on the whole I think I'm much more like a strange combination of Sokka and Aang. I didn't like Sokka during the first season, but starting in the 2nd he just became so unimaginably awesome. I think I like Aang most in the second season. He's so badass when he's angry.

Yep. It's a mark of a good character if they can bring out emotion in you - good or bad!

That is pretty dang cool, Mary. Though I don't ship Katara/Zuko, lol. I ALMOST thought it would be interesting when I had only seen parts of season one, but then that quickly faded away into impossibility when Katara/Aang become super obvious beyond just Aang's little crush. I can't help but ship canon. It's extremely rare for me to ship something that wasn't what the writers intended.

I'd be interested to see your MV, though!

I didn't expect you guys to ship Zutara. JN is really one of maybe two fandoms I'm a part of where my favorite pairings are canon. I almost always ship something other than canon, because it's more fun to pick movies/shows/books apart to find tiny scraps of evidence to support a ship.

Lol. See I love looking for evidence to support a ship, but I like it to be the ship that will end up actually happening so I can jump around when it finally occurs.

Actually, I didn't care all that much in Avatar about any of the relationships. Sokka/Suki was the one I liked best, but still didn't have any major "OMG THEY HAVE TO BE TOGETHER" feelings.

I kind of liked that, though - that I wasn't driven by any ships in Avatar. Nice to have a show where I am watching it for reasons that don't really include romance. Aang/Katara was mostly just "meh" for me. I sort of wanted it to happen, but I wasn't waiting on the edge of my seat for it. I really just wanted it for Aang's sake.

I almost never watch stuff for the romance. It's usually just an added bonus. I had no particular shipping preference until The Waterbending Scroll. Then I supported Zutara, especially after The Crossroads of Destiny. And then when episodes like The Southern Raiders came around, I was very excited that my preferred pairing might actually happen to some degree. But unfortunately that did not happen.

But the fact that they became friends is good enough for me. At least in the show. Fanfiction/fanart/mvs almost always include Zutara, because I didn't get to see it for real.

Yeah, I don't usually watch things only for the romance. But it often is included as one of the reasons I'll watch something, because let's face it...there are few shows that DON'T include romance. And if it is done right, it is loads of fun. (JC anybody...?)

Avatar was nice because it concentrated on my favorite parts of most shows: humor, adventure, and imagination. It really played up character interactions beyond just "romance", which was friggin' awesome. Too often shows get wrapped up with having the only in-depth relationship be a romantic one (or leading to a romantic one). So Avatar was refreshing in that regard. The relationship I cared most about was not at all romantic. My eyes were glued to the screen every episode looking for some sign that Zuko and his uncle had reached an understanding and could begin the father/son relationship they always were meant to have.

Alright, I apparently have Avatar on the brain because I keep having Avatar dreams. I'm always Aang, and being captured or chased by bad guys and separated from my friends and all I have is a little invisible spirit friend to help me.

I've concluded this means I need more Avatar, so can anyone recommend some good Avatar fanfiction? Most preferably, non-shipping fics (or if there is shipping, canon-shipping fics)?
