Chapter 21: Clearing Things Up
(Carl's POV)


The day before yesterday, Jimmy & Cindy had gone missing during the scavenger hunt, but Libby had found them later on. Even weirder than that was that she & Sheen went missing yesterday, but Jimmy & Cindy had found them after several hours.

Today, Jimmy & Sheen acted pretty weird, almost as if they were trying to hide something from me. When I asked them that morning, “Guys, what's been going on with you 2 these days?? You go missing, then you're found several hours later 2 days in a row! If you ask me, that sounds rather suspicious to me, don't you think?!”

Nick, who'd been playing his PSP, looked up & added, “Yeah, Nerd-bomb & Shine! What's the deal?? First we had to wait 2 hours until you & Cindy were found the day before yesterday during the scavenger hunt, then, yesterday, you & Libby being gone forced the counselors to postpone the obstacle course race!”

“Uh, heh, heh! Funny story about that, guys!” Jimmy began, clearly embarrassed.

“Yeah! Uh, funny story! Heh, heh!!” Sheen agreed, tugging on his shirt collar.

“Let's not forget how weird you 2 acted yesterday after that stuff splashed on you guys!!” Butch put in, temporarily stopping his “Go Fish” game with Oleander.

“You're right, Butch!” I noted, “You both acted as if you couldn't live without being with Cindy or Libby!!” Then my dim mind suddenly drew a conclusion. “Jimmy, wasn't that stuff that spilled on you & Sheen your modified love potion?? By the way, what makes it modified?” I added.

“Yeah, it was,” he hastily admitted, then additionally said, “This one doesn't vaporize into the air; it only affects you if it's splattered on you. It causes both you & your crush to fall in love with eachother & to do things that should ONLY be reserved for married couples!”

Oleander gasped & exclaimed, “You mean-...?!”

“Yes, Oleander, that's what it makes you do, & Cindy & I happened to be exposed to it 2 days ago, just as Sheen & Libby were yesterday,” Jimmy explained, his face turning slightly reddish in color.

“That only means one thing!” Nick gasped.

“If you figured it out, then I guess we'll just admit it. Yes, I accidentally got Cindy pregnant,” he admitted, looking down at the floor.

Sheen nodded & confessed, “Yeah, me, too, except it was Libby.”

Then Jimmy warned, “Not one word of this to the camp counselors, understand??!! Otherwise, you'll be shrunk to ant size for a week & will be forced to try to live a normal life, though it would be rather difficult, got it??!”

Nick, Butch, Oleander, & I nodded nervously, afraid of the severe consequences that would come about if we told on them.

“Good. Now, let's see if Randy will let us use the game room since it's raining again,” he suggested helpfully.

“Yeah. Let's do it!” I agreed, & hurried through the rain with the other guys to the counselors' cabin, which had a sheltered porch in front.

Sheen knocked on the door & asked, “Randy? Could we go to the game room for the day, since it's raining?”

Apparently, the girls had the same idea, because they joined us soon after Sheen asked that question.

“Good idea,” came Randy's voice, “In fact, let's ALL go over there! C'mon, Sarah!”

Then he & Sarah came out & motioned for us to follow them quickly through the rain to the recreational building, which we did.

Around 6pm, they had us retreat to our separate cabins for the night. We didn't rush because the rain had slowed down for the evening.

About 9:30 that night, we got ready for bed & called it quits for the night, returning to our bunks & falling asleep within the next 45 minutes.

Chapter 22: Admitting the Truth
(Jimmy's POV)


I did say that we'd tell our parents about what happened to Cindy & Libby, but, at first, I was rather hesitant, mainly because I wasn't sure how they'd react. I hoped that they would be fully supportive in this time of crisis, instead of yelling at me about how irresponsible I was & about me being a bit too young to do what I did.

So, when Sheen asked me the following day, “Jimmy, didn't we agree that we'd tell our parents about what happened??”

“Yeah,” I sighed, “We did, Sheen, but, the thing is, I'm not quite sure I'm ready to tell them the whole story. Are you willing to admit to your dad what happened between you & Libby?”

“I dunno. Anyway, we haven't even found out if Libby's officially pregnant or not. What did you find out about Cindy?” he wanted to know.

“I created an invention on Thursday that would be able to tell if she was pregnant or not, & guess what? She was!” I informed him, “And now I'm gonna be a dad at 17 years of age, & if Libby's truly pregnant, you're gonna be a dad at 18 years of age. But, you know, Sheen, it WAS ultimately your fault that Cindy's expecting & Libby could be expecting because you got hyperactive, got into my things, & accidentally spilled my modified love potion on me, &, a day later, on you as well! When will you grow up??!”

“Well??” he questioned me, “Aren't you gonna use your invention to find out whether I'm gonna be a dad or not???”

As if on cue, there was a knock on the guys' cabin door. I got up & opened it, surprised to find Cindy & Libby in the doorway. “Can I help you girls with anything??” I asked them.

“Neutron, we need to see you & Sheen behind the guys' cabin again, & bring that invention of yours,” Cindy informed me. Libby nodded her agreement.

“C'mon, Sheen,” I said somewhat urgently, grabbing his arm & leading him & the girls outside to the back of the guys' cabin.

Once there, I brought out my Micro-Detector 5000 again & scanned Libby's abdomen. After looking briefly at the device's results, I informed her, “Libby, you, like Cindy, are pregnant.”

That made Sheen jump for joy & proclaim, “I'm gonna be a father! Yippee! Yippee!!!”

Libby clamped her hand over his mouth & hissed, “Sheen, pipe down!!! Ya don't want the camp counselors to hear, do ya??!!” Then she let him go.

“Nope! Nuh-uh!! No WAY!!!” he exclaimed, shaking his head violently.

“Good, didn't think so!” she told him.

“So, Neutron,” Cindy asked, “Are ya gonna tell your parents about this? They have a right to know, ya know.”

I sighed heavily & admitted, “Yeah, I guess you're right, Vortex. I should tell them sooner or later!” With that, I paged Goddard with my watch & he came bounding up to me. Then I told him, “Goddard, phone, please!” He tossed me one of his ears that also served as a phone & I dialed my home phone number.

It rang 2 times before Mom picked up & said, “Why, hello, Jimmy! How's camp?”

“It's okay. Listen, I have important news for you. It's about Cindy; something...... happened,” I told her, mentally preparing myself for the lecture I was sure to receive.

“What happened, Jimmy?!” she wanted to know. I could sense the sternness in her voice.

I then explained to her the events of the past few days, leaving nothing out.

A few minutes passed after I finished. I was sure she was giving what I'd just explained to her some deep thought. I was sure she'd scold me, saying, “James Isaac Neutron, how many times have I explained to you how that works & how it should ONLY be saved for marriage??!! I've never been more disappointed in you, young man!!! You're officially grounded for a MONTH!!”

But she didn't say any of those things. Instead, she said, “Oh, this is unexpected! But, I guess these things happen when you have a genius for a son. Accidents happen! I guess I should be happy that I'm going to be a grandparent soon, & so should your father. Have you considered abortion?”

“I have,” I informed her, “but that's taking away a human life just as it's just been started! To me, that's plain murder!! That's highly against my standards, Mom!”

“I can tell. Well, I'd better go. Your father's expecting me to make him a cherry pie, & I mustn't keep him waiting, especially when it comes to pie!” Mom told me.

“Okay, Mom. 'Bye!” I said, & hung up.

“So, what did she say?” Sheen wanted to know.

“She was a bit shocked at first after I explained it to her, but she got over it quickly,” I stated matter-of-factly, “In fact, right before I hung up, she sounded like she was rather ecstatic about becoming a grandparent! I hope your mom takes it okay, Cindy!”

She sighed & admitted, “Yeah, I hope so, too, Neutron! I will admit, she does have a rather strong personality, & she tends to take things personally more often than not!”

“As for my mom,” Libby put in, “She just supports me no matter what the circumstances. How do ya think yo' dad will take it, Sheen?”

“I dunno. He'll probably just encourage me through it & suggest that I make better choices in the long run,” he guessed thoughtfully.

With that, we went back into our separate cabins to prepare for the hike later that day. I later learned that their parents HAD been contacted, & they reacted as Cindy, Libby, & Sheen expected they would.

The hike took about a couple hours, but the view when we reached the overlook point was spectacular! We could see for miles & miles! Then it took us about 2 more hours to get back to camp & have lunch.

Afterwards, we got permission to use the game room for the remainder of the afternoon & early evening.

When 7pm came around, we retreated to our cabins, in which we hung out until 9. Then we got ready for bed & retired for the night.

Chapter 23: The Story Gets Out
(Cindy's POV)


I was pretty sure that all the guys must've found out our little secret. After all, they'd probably keep asking question after question until they weaseled the truth out of Jimmy & Sheen.

However, the only girls that knew about it were Libby & me, sharing the same unlucky secret. At least, that's how it was at first.

The following day, she & I tried our best to keep it cool & not admit anything, though both our moms knew by then. But, under a certain amount of pressure, Libs & I were bound to crack & admit it.

It all started with a simple comment at lunch from Britney: “Isn't it odd that the counselors would, like, postpone the obstacle course race because 2 people didn't, like, show up?”

“Yeah, you're right, Britney!” Nissa agreed, “Who was it exactly that made us miss out?”

Natalie piped up & said, “If I remember right, it was Sheen & Libby who went missing for a while, then mysteriously showed up much later being escorted by Jimmy & Cindy. Cindy, I remember that you & him had frustrated & disappointed looks on your faces. Why was that?”

“Well, it was only because Neutron & I caught the 2 of them doing something they weren't supposed to be doing!!!” I informed the girls matter-of-factly, glaring at Libby.

“What was it, Cindy?” Betty asked after downing a mouthful of spaghetti, “They weren't drinking, were they?!”

“No, Betty, worse than that! Let's just say that after a couple tests, she ended up finding out that she was pregnant!!” I boldly stated, taking a sip of my soda.

“That explains what happened on Friday, but what about on Thursday, when you & Jimmy went missing until 5, when we were SUPPOSED to meet back at 3??!” Natalie questioned suspiciously.

“I can answer that!” Libby interjected between bites of her pepperoni pizza, “Let's just say it was basically the same scenario that Sheen & I were in!”

When I heard her say that, I could feel myself flushing deeply as I slunk down in my chair slightly. “Um, yeah! Uh, she's right,” I finally admitted, completely embarrassed.

“Like, wow!” Britney gasped, “Who would've thought that, like, a 16 & 17-year-old would get pregnant??!”

“I wouldn't say that, Britney! I once read about an 6-year-old in China during 1939 that gave birth,” Natalie put in informatively.

“She's right, you know!” I said, slowly regaining my composure.

“Oh, my gosh!!” Nissa exclaimed.

“Back on the subject, I KNOW I'm his adopted sister, but he just gets cuter & cuter every day!” Natalie sighed happily.

I could feel a tinge of jealousy welling up inside of me when I heard her say that. Neutron's MY hunk-muffin! How DARE she say that!!! She was taking a HUGE risk when she said that to us, at least, it was in my perspective.

Then there was silence for about 10 minutes until Betty piped up, saying, “So, Cindy, what are you hoping for? A girl or a boy?”

“I think I'd prefer a boy who looked JUST like his dad!” I informed them passionately.

Natalie giggled & asked, “Crushing much, Cindy?”

I looked around the lunch room suspiciously, then said in a low voice, “Maybe...”

“What about you, Libby? Boy or girl?” Betty asked her.

“Personally, I'd prefer a girl. Then, when her hair grew long enough, I could put it up in all sorts of cute ways!” Libby told us.

“Like, I could just imagine...,” Britney breathed happily.

Then Sarah announced that lunch was over for the day, & we should head over to the gym for a game of volleyball.

It was girls against boys, & our team ended up winning that game, 11 to 10.

When evening came, we retreated to our cabins, in which we hung out until 9. Then we got ready for bed & called it quits for the night.

Chapter 24: Something Weird's Going On...
(Libby's POV)


The next day, Monday, started out like any normal day at camp.

I got up that morning around 8:15. I sat up, stretched, & looked around at my cabin mates. Most of them were still asleep, except for Cindy, who was sitting in her bed & writing in her diary. Well, I guess I'd better go ahead & get myself dressed, I thought to myself, & quietly climbed down the ladder & proceeded to dress myself.

When that was done, I got out my CD player & listened to my Aly & AJ CD for about 20 minutes while entering a personal message into my PDA. Then I looked at my new watch I'd received for my graduation present. It was 8:50am. Sarah should be coming in to get us up any minute.

An hour passed without any sign of her. I was beginning to get concerned, so I stopped my music & set my PDA aside, then tapped Cindy on her shoulder. She looked away from her diary at me & asked, “Yeah, Libs? What's on your mind?”

“I was just thinking,” I told her, “Shouldn't Sarah have been here by now to get us up? She usually comes in around 9, but it's been almost an hour since then, & there's been no sign of her!”

Pretty much everyone was awake & dressed by then, except for Natalie. She was still asleep in her bottom bunk.

“Now that you mention it, Libby, you're right! She would've been here by now, but she's not! Something isn't right, here!” she replied, a suspicious look in her eyes.

“An' the other thing I was wondering about was why on earth Natalie's still asleep??!” I put in, looking over at her.

“I'll take care of that!” Cindy informed me, & walked over to her bed & shook her gently.

Natalie sat up abruptly & rubbed her eyes. “What's the deal, girls?” she wanted to know, “Why'd you wake me up like this?”

“Girl,” I told her, “It's 10am, & everyone else is up by now. Plus, something weird's goin' on here! Sarah hasn't come in to check on us yet! She usually comes in at 9!”

“Now that you mention it, that IS weird!” Natalie exclaimed, getting up & proceeding to get dressed.

Then Betty spoke up, saying, “You know, I wonder if the guys are in the same situation! You never know!”

“Yeah, Miss Perfect!” Cindy agreed, “I'm beginning to sense that something suspicious is going on, & I want to find out what!”

“Then what are we waiting for? Let's go check on the guys!” I suggested, already next to the door with my hand on the door knob.

With that, everyone else followed Cindy & me out the door & to the guys' cabin door.

Then Cindy knocked on the door furiously, demanding, “Guys, I know you're in there, so get your lazy butts UP & answer the door!!!!”

A few seconds later, Sheen opened the door & asked, “Can I help you lovely ladies with anything??”

“Ultra-Dork, have you noticed anything weird going on?” she snapped.

“Nope! Not a thing! See ya!” he replied, & started to shut the door when another one of the guys stopped it with his foot. Then Jimmy showed up & first told Sheen, “Knock it OFF, Sheen!” Then he questioningly added, “Can I help you girls with anything??”

“Nerd-tron, you notice anything unusual going on here?!” Cindy sharply questioned.

“Have you noticed that your counselor Randy hasn't checked on y'all yet, when he & Sarah usually check up on us around 9? Now, it's goin' on 10:30am!” I pointed out, concerned.

“Now that you mention it, girls, that IS strange! If they don't show up by noon, that could possibly mean that someone is responsible for their disappearance! Although, I'm already beginning to suspect that's the case!!” he noted thoughtfully. Then he suggested, “Why don't we all do a thorough investigation of the counselors' cabin & see if anything's up?”

All of us girls voiced our agreement.

“Good. Now, I just have to get the rest of the guys to come along,” Jimmy told us, & disappeared back into the guys' cabin for about 10 minutes.

Then he came out again, this time, with all the other guys following him. Then all 12 of us banded together & went to the counselors' cabin.

Once there, he knocked on the door & hollered, “Hello?? Is anybody there???”

No answer.

With that, Jimmy paged Goddard on his watch & he came bounding up to him from the guys' cabin. Then he instructed, “Goddard, scan for any locking mechanisms that could keep us from going in.”

Goddard barked & did just that & revealed that the door wasn't locked, but it did have a locking system on it that wasn't engaged in “lock mode.” Good grief! Now I'm starting to sound like Neutron!

Anyway, when we saw that it wasn't locked, we went inside & looked around.

“Something's fishy!” Sheen said.

“Yeah, someone might be up to no good,” I agreed.

“No, I mean something's REALLY fishy! Look, Carl!” he exclaimed, pointing at the fish tank at one end of the cabin.

Carl looked up from munching on doughnuts he'd found on Randy's desk & saw the fish in the fish tank, saying, “Awwww!!” Then he went back to eating them.

Unfortunately, Jimmy saw him & demanded, “Carl, cut it out!! Those aren't yours, so put them DOWN!!!”

“Okay, Jim,” he agreed, & walked away.

“Okay, anyone find anything suspicious???” Cindy wanted to know.

“Not yet!” Nissa interjected.

“Does anyone know if & where Randy keeps his hair gel?” Nick asked, looking through the cabinets.

“Nick,” I told him, “Focus!!”

“Sorry, Libby,” he apologized, & stopped snooping through them.

Then, suddenly, the central rug was folded over to reveal a trap door, which opened right afterwards to reveal none other than Sarah & Randy stepping out of it!! Boy, were we relieved to see them!

Then, we noticed that something wasn't quite right. They weren't wearing their usual camp uniforms. Instead, they had some sort of intergalactic sparkly, metallic jumpsuits, & their hair was different, too! Sarah's long, red hair was formed into buns like Princess Leia had on Star Wars & Randy's hair wasn't spiky but slicked back like he was some sort of businessman. And they both had evil expressions on their faces!

Then Jimmy pointed out, “If you ask me, that's what I'd call suspicious!!!”

That's when it turned ugly! All of a sudden, Sarah grabbed Nissa's, Betty's, & Britney's arms & dragged them outside while Randy grabbed Nick's, Butch's, & Oleander's arms & taking them in the same direction.

After staring at them dumbfounded for a few moments, the rest of us raced out after them & into the center of camp, where Randy, Sarah, & the kidnapped kids were already being beamed up into a strange alien ship. Then the ship blasted off & left the remaining 6 of us staring into the sky, watching it disappear.

Then Jimmy turned to Goddard & hurriedly instructed, “Goddard, head home to my lab, get my rocket, & bring it here on autopilot. I'll run get my hypercube! And hurry back!”

Goddard barked & left the camp with his feet acting like miniature rockets.

About 30 minutes later, he returned with his rocket. “Thanks, boy!” he thanked him, then told us,
“Everyone, get in the rocket! I have a feeling I know who's behind this!”

We did just that & Jimmy started it up. Then we blasted off in the direction that the alien ship had gone, in hot pursuit of our friends & counselors.

Chapter 25: Hot On the Trail!
(Sheen's POV)


I sighed out of boredom as I watched yet another cloud fly by us. I didn't know how long we'd been flying, but, to me, it seemed like an eternity!

“How much longer???” I finally impatiently asked, completely bored out of my mind.

“If I hear that sentence again or anything like it, I'll clock ya 'till you reach the other side of the world!!!” Cindy threatened, glaring at me & holding up her fist.

“Cindy, he's only asked that once so far!” Libby reminded her friend, “Could ya try to cool it once in a while??!”

She sighed & admitted, “Okay, Libs. I'll try.”

Natalie leaned to her right & asked Libby, “What's with her??”

“She's just experiencing a bit of irritability, lately. Quite common during the first trimester,” Libby calmly informed her.

“Oh, yeah! Duh!!” she exclaimed, smacking her forehead, clearly feeling a bit silly, “I knew THAT!!”

“Ain't she the cutest?” I whispered behind me to Carl.

“Yo, Sheen!! I heard that!!!” Libby snapped at me.

“Jeez, Libby-licious!” I told her, “For the love of UltraLord, can't ya take a joke?!”

Natalie giggled a bit & questioned Libby, “Irritable much?”

“I guess...,” she admitted with a sigh.

“Hey, Jim?” Carl asked, “Any sign of the ship, yet?”

“Not yet, Carl,” Jimmy informed him, temporarily looking away from the controls, “It's too far away for me to-” Then he looked at the green screen in front of him & gasped, “Leapin' leptons!! It can't BE!!!”

“Can't be who, Jimmy?” Natalie wanted to know.

“I thought the Yokians were through with us, but it appears as though they're not!” he exclaimed.

“Okay, who ARE the Yokians?!” she asked, clearly confused.

“I can answer that!” I told her, “They're aliens that look like green slime with eyes, & they use robotic cases shaped like eggs with arms to get around. That explains why their ship looks like a rubber chicken!”

“They've attacked us twice, first, to kidnap the parents of Retroville & feed them to their giant chicken god Poultra, & second, to clone Poultra on Earth & try to feed them to her there! And NOW, they're attacking us again?! Gosh!!!” Jimmy added, obviously furious at them.

“The Yokians to really watch out for are King Goobot & his assistant Ooblar,” Cindy put in, “They'll REALLY give ya a run for your money, or, more importantly, your life!!”

“How will I know who's who?” Natalie asked.

“King Goobot's the Yokian with the crown on his head & Ooblar's the one in the purple outfit,” Libby informed her.

“And watch out for the guards! They have spears that'll zap you if you don't behave when they tell you to!” Carl interjected cautiously.

“Crown, purple outfit, zapping spears, got it!” Natalie told herself.

Then he gasped, pointing, “Look there!!”

What confused me was why the Yokians' ship was still near earth, not on its way to Planet Yokus. “Why are they still here?” I wanted to know.

“I'm not sure, Sheen, but I have a feeling that this is part of their master plan!” Jimmy replied.

Then, suddenly, Cindy's face turned slightly green & covered her mouth with her hand. Then she leaned over the side of the sidecar & barfed like crazy!

“Nausea,” Natalie explained under her breath.

Libby leaned forward & placed a hand on her shoulder, saying, “Cin, are you okay, girl?”

After regaining her composure, she replied, “Yeah, I'm fine, Libs.”

Then I started to snicker under my breath like crazy. When I get going like that, it's hard for me to stop!

“What's so funny, Sheen?” Carl inquired.

“I was just thinking... What if someone was directly under Cindy after she barfed & they looked up into the sky right as it came down on top of them?!!?” I suggested, cracking up hysterically.

“That wasn't FUNNY, Ultra-DORK!!” Cindy barked at me.

“It is if you consider the scenario I just brought up!!” I told her, still giggling.

She thought for a moment, then she started giggling herself. She calmed down after a while, like Carl & I did. Even Jimmy chuckled about it a little.

Then he said, “Okay, guys, I KNOW that was rather funny, what Sheen said, but right now, we need to focus on finding out what kind of plans the Yokians have for us this time!”

“Right!” we all exclaimed in unison.

“Hey, it looks like they're landing!” Carl put in, pointing at the ship.

“We'd better follow them & see if we can find out what their plan is!” Jimmy said, following the ship down into Retroville Park where there was a clearing large enough for the ship.

Chapter 26: Confronting the Yokians
(Carl's POV)


When we landed shortly after the Yokians did, Jimmy made sure that we were not able to be seen or heard by them, but to where we could see & hear them.

We snuck out of the rocket & hid behind a few nearby trees to try to find out what the Yokians had planned THIS time.

We didn't have to wait long, because, shortly after they landed, Goobot & Ooblar came out & started discussing plans.

“So, we're clear on the plan, right, Ooblar?” Goobot wanted to know.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” he replied, waving his robotic hand up & down a couple times, “We use our nanochips to put every human being on earth under our power, that is, after 'getting rid of Neutron once & for all'. You know, sire, none of your plans to eradicate him really work, & don't say that THIS one will, because that's what you say every time! Then, he somehow always foils our plans & forces us to return home. That's how it was, is, & always WILL BE!!!”

“That's what you think, Ooblar. You never give my plans a CHANCE to work; that's what's wrong!!! Trust me, this plan is surefire to work!! After spraying a mist of our nanochips over the entire earth, it's only a matter of time before one attaches to each human & takes control of their minds!” Goobot maniacally explained.

“What about eliminating Neutron?” his sidekick & right-hand Yokian messenger wanted to know.

“Don't worry about that! I've gotten that taken care of! I've made & singled out a single nanochip that, once it has landed on him, will slowly but surely kill him!!! Then there'll be no one to stop us!!” the Yokian king exclaimed, laughing maniacally.

That's when I heard Jimmy gasp angrily & mutter under his breath, “You'll WHAT?!! Why, I oughtta...!!!” Then he asked Goddard in a low voice, “Goddard, did you record what they just said in your hard drive??”

He nodded his head in reply.

“Good boy! Now, scan the city for that particular nanochip that Goobot spoke of. When you locate it, go to its exact location & annihilate it with your laser blaster, okay?” he commanded additionally.

Goddard barked softly & did as he was told. Then he left for a few minutes.

When he returned, Jimmy asked, “Did you find & destroy it, boy?”

He just licked his master's face in a way that could only mean “yes.” Then he pushed his dog down gently & said quietly, “Okay, good boy, Goddard. Down, boy!”

When Goobot used a weird alien scanner thing to check on the supply of nanochips, he was incredibly furious with what he saw on it. Then he fumed, “WHAT???!! The nanochip I created to destroy Neutron has been destroyed itself!!!! That chip cost me almost 20 quadrillion Yokian dollars to create, & now, it's destroyed!!! I made that huge investment for nothing!! Why, I'll bet he destroyed it without being exposed to it! No matter. I'll still have control over the earth & Poultra will have a descent meal in store for her!!”

But Ooblar had an objection. “Wasn't the last of her destroyed the second time we visited earth?” he questioned.

“Oh, yeah... I forgot,” Goobot begrudgingly muttered, slapping the glass part of his shell with a robotic hand.

That's when Jimmy chose to come out of hiding & charge at them, with the rest of us following close behind him.

“Ha! So you finally chose to show your face, do you, Neutron?!” Goobot taunted.

“As a matter of fact, yes, I do!! So, taking over the earth via mind control?? Is that the BEST you can do???!” Jimmy teased with a serious look on his face.

Sheen, being the silly guy that he is, stuck his tongue out at them, went cross-eyed, shook his behind at them while slapping it, & taunted in a sing-song voice, “Nyah-nyah, nyah-nyah, NYAH-nyah!!” Then he blew a strawberry at them to tease them more.

Libby just glared at him as she said sharply, “Sheen, cut that out!!”

“Whatever suits you, mi reina!” he sighed as he stopped his silly, & might I add hilarious, antics.

“Yes, Neutron, that IS the best we can do, because YOU destroyed the nanochip that was supposed to get rid of you!!” Goobot snapped in response to Jimmy's previous question.

“In fact, they should be under our power in 3... 2... 1...,” Ooblar added, pretending to look at a watch that wasn't there on his robotic arm, “Ooo, & here they come! Sire, would you care to do the honors?”

“Delighted!” Goobot replied, & commanded to the throng of Retrovillians behind him, “Go! Annihilate Neutron, & his little friends, too!”

Hope For the Hopeless

Chapter 27: Intervention!
(Jimmy's POV)


Right when the mind-controlled Retrovillians began to charge at us, I anxiously ordered, “Everybody to my rocket!!!!!”

We all made a mad dash for it & we all clambered inside it, including Goddard & me, & I started it up so we could make a run for it. Little did I know that my rocket was running extremely low on fuel, so we didn't get very far after I started it up. We only got as far as a dark alley, then it shut off abruptly & sent us plummeting down into the concrete floor. None of us were injured, thankfully!

With that, we all climbed out quickly as the civilians drew ever closer to us. Behind us, we soon discovered, was a dead end, so we were basically trapped! There was some trash, a few trash cans, & a couple stray cats that ran out of our way & out of sight as we backed into the dead end. By then, it appeared as though we were out of luck.

“Angry mobs! I'm allergic to angry mobs!!!!” Carl shrieked, cowering in a corner & pointing to the approaching throng of people.

Libby turned to Natalie as she nervously wanted to know, “What are ya gonna do about this, Natalie?!”

“Don't look at ME, Libby!” Natalie exclaimed, “Ask my brother; he's more experienced in these types of situations! I should know; he's told me ALL about them!”

“Oops! MY bad!” Libby said nervously, then asked me, “What do we do, Neutron??!!”

“Uh...,” I stuttered, not sure of what to say about the current situation.

“Don't just STAND there, King Cranium! Our friends & loved ones are mindlessly attacking, & they're getting closer by the second!!!! THINK of something, and FAST!!!!!!” Cindy barked at me, trying to fend off the crowd with her tai chi moves.

I could see the rest of them, other than Cindy, join Carl & cower with them out of fear.

“Don't worry, guys!!” I hurriedly reassured them, “I'll think of something!!!” Then I tightly shut my eyes & muttered, “Think... think... THINK...!!” A series of images flew through my mind: my hypno-beam; the device Goobot was using to control them. Then I shouted, “BRAIN BLAST!!!” I then instructed my dog, “Goddard, fetch the device King Goobot is using to control the congregation, boy!”

He barked & did just as I commanded. Then Goobot, realizing that something was just taken away from him, yelled, “Hey, HEY!! Gimme that!!!!”

I used that device and my hypno-beam I just pulled out of my hypercube, combined them in a certain way, and created something I was sure that would turn everyone back to normal!!

Sheen noticed my new gadget and exclaimed, rushing up to me, “Cool!! Uh, so what is it?”

“Ladies and gentlemen, I give you my latest creation: the Mind-Control-Reverser!!” I announced, “This device is SURE to turn everyone back to normal within seconds! It locates the nanochips installed within each individual and annihilates them on contact, thus returning them to their normal behaviors & personalities!”

“Huh?” Carl & Sheen were completely lost.

Libby just rolled her eyes & explained, “This device is gonna turn everyone in the world back to normal.”

“Oh,” they said in unison.

“Well, don't just stand there, Spew-tron!! Use it & get everyone back to normal!!!!” Cindy snapped at me.

“Okay, fine, I will, Miss Bossy-Boots!!” I barked back at her, then said to Goddard, “Goddard, 'Flight Cycle'!” He then transformed into Flight Cycle Mode & lifted me high above the crowd. Then I pressed a button on my new invention that sent a force field beam across the entire world that only targeted those who were mind-controlled, thus turning them back to normal.

When Goobot saw this abrupt transformation, he gasped angrily & ordered, “Oh, Neutron, you are SO gonna get it!!!”

“Oh, I don't think so!” I confidently replied after I was back on the ground with Goddard, then hollered to the throng in front of us, “Hey, everybody!! Get the Yokians!!!”

They immediately turned to face the Yokians & charged at them with angry/determined expressions on their faces.

The Yokian guards, Goobot, & Ooblar screamed out of fright, seeing that they were hopelessly outnumbered, & rushed back into their rubber-chicken-shaped spaceship. Then they immediately started it up & blasted up & away from earth.

Then everyone turned back to face us & cheered us on, thankful to be out from under the threat of the Yokians for what seemed to be the final time.
