Yeah, I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more fics on there. A lot of them I already saw on ff.net or they are weird crossovers which I am not into.

I sometimes act like this whenever people on Stan Twitter use JN clips for clapbacks and drags HAHAHA

"Not enough diversity"...? What...? That seems really weird to me. Like, just look at the main gang - They're pretty diverse. Also, who's to say they couldn't introduce new characters? I'd really like to know who the executive who made that decision was, because that seems really dumb to me... Especially since it seemed like everyone else was open to rebooting it.

That's just what the Suits say when they want to veto a project without giving a clear reason why. They aren't actually interested in diversity - major networks have a long track record of canceling shows that examine issues of identity too closely. "Diversity" as corpo-speak is a functionally meaningless buzzword at this point.

Yeah, I agree with everything you guys said here, this is giving the same energy on why they cancelled "The Owl House" for too. I also don't agree of it having no diversity 'cause you have a latino, black-american, a dork, and two nerds as the main characters of the show, isn't that diverse enough ![]()
Anyway, while it would be nice to see the show again, I'm not super fan of a reboot/retelling either. So, I'm not completely mad this isn't happening at all, but the reasoning is still b*llshit if you ask me.

Honestly, yeah. There was a time when I would have given anything to see this show come back, but at this point, I don't really feel like I need it (even if I still think it shouldn't have been cancelled). Especially since I've already kind of established my own headcanons about what happens afterwards anyway.

I'm just not a fan of reboots in general. I'm more hyped with revival/continuations like what they did to Hey Arnold for example. I just feel like the reason I love these series is because of the way they told their stories in the original. I personally don't need any modern reimagining of them, like what they did to Rugrats. I'm still mourning for that one 'cause a next-gen sequel type of show with new baby characters would've been much more interesting, and now they're even doing a live-action movie which literally nobody asks for.
I'm just glad Nick isn't playing with JN like that but if they did do a revisit, I hope it's a Season 4.

Reboots can sometimes be better. Like the Netflix reboot of Voltron was objectively better than the original 80s Voltron, because it wasn't a mashup of two completely unrelated mecha animes with a brand new cheesy plot created exclusively to sell toys
and personally I think the 2017 reboot of Ducktales was way better than the original, but I also didn't grow up watching the original, or any of the Disney Afternoon cartoons, so I wasn't attached to the 80s version.
I think reboots can work if the people behind the reboot are fans of the original, because they're more likely to create something that's genuinely good.

They did do that accursed spin-off, though; couldn't even bring myself to watch more than a few seconds of it...
Now, I do realize it's been this long by now since it ended, and I have some headcanons for it, as well, but I still have hope for a potential revival someday...
I just hope they'd keep it the way it was and not do anything major to it, like make a character give up his/her obsessions, like they did in Planet Sheen...
I'll always be mad about that to some extent, but it's not like when I first heard about that(was REALLY pissed off then)... There's still a ton of potential they never touched on originally, like Cindy's home life or Sheen and Libby getting to have their first kiss...
I wasn't able to catch up with Planet Sheen a lot 'cause it didn't aired here in my country and based on the bit I've seen of it, it's not something I'm gonna like too, it felt too different (which makes sense since it's spin-off)
Like you said, it's gonna depend on the attachment you have for the original material, but reboots of my favorite shows surpassing the original is pretty rare IMO, I guess it's beause I also have a huge attachment to the time when my show was released too hahaReboots can sometimes be better. You're right about possibly liking reboots done well, only if I have no idea about the original material too and was just seeing the franchise for the first time hehe

Yeah, reboots are really hit or miss. The people behind the reboot need to be passionate about the source material, AND they need to have a good writing team. The network has to be cooperative enough to allow those writers to take creative and comedic risks. Cash-grab remakes tend to suck ass.
That said, enjoy this scene from the original show, re-imagined in 2D!

1. Love this animation style. They look so cute
2. Sheen poses the real questions here

It's been a long time since I've posted anything in this topic, but here goes nothing: I actually updated something! For years, the forums have been accumulating "orphaned" uploaded images and files (basically, when a topic with attachments gets deleted, the attachments hang around, taking up space). I ran a system cleaner to remove all of that junk, as well as rebuild user post counts to better reflect the real numbers. None of this will have any impact on your scrolling experience ![]()
