REALLY BAD NEWS EVERYONE.

When I cam back from my Oceanography field trip today, I discovered that by some freak accident my printer had fallen off the shelf, bounced off my desk, and landed directly on my laptop, completely smashing the screen.

So now I have NO computer. Allow me to reiterate. I have a term paper due in 2 weeks, and I have NO COMPUTER. I am so royally screwed. Luckily I had just backed up my entire hard drive, so I didn't lose any data. But this still poses a problem. I can't check IDOJ without walking all the way to the science library and using one of theirs, or bumming a computer off of one of my friends.

So no new site updates for a long time. :'( :grr: Also, no new pics for awhile. Furthermore, I DON'T KNOW WHEN OR IF I CAN GET A NEW COMPUTER. If freak accidents aren't insured, there is no new computer in my future. There is no way I can afford a new one - my laptop was supposed to last me all four years.

Sorry guys, this sucks in soooo many way.

I am SO sorry about what happened to you. I really wish I could help and not only because of IDOJ updates. Is only the screen smashed? Then, may be you can just repair it replacing the screen, it would be less expensive than buying a new computer.

Oh my gosh... Mara, I'm SOOOOOOOOO sorry. That must suck so much! I feel really bad for you, and your poor, smashed laptop. Ugh! If there was some way I could help, I totally would, trust me. Again, SO sorry, Mara! I hope you ARE insured for it, so you don't have to go computer-less.

Oh no! Mara that's terrible!

Not just for us at IDOJ, but especially for you and important Term Papers!

It must have been a long fall, I thought laptops were a little more durable than that.

I know they can do all kinds of things with repair and data recovery, which is good, but I'm sad to say I think that stuff takes mucho dinero.

Be well Mara! Or as well as you can manage.

Aw, man!!!! That's just plain evil! I really hope you can get a new laptop; going computer-less like that in college would be one MAJOR pain! :unsure: Yuck!

(Which is sure what it looks like out the window here in Chicago. They said chance of snow. In April! What's up with that? Just babbling.)

Hey there, for what it's worth I just noticed we have 400 members.

That's not too bad! ^_^

Alas, I know some are gone never to come back. And some are hardly ever here. But it's still a good group.

I am reminded of a silly Sesame Street bit from my youth, about size and groups.

A couple muppets would come onto the screen and the guy would sing:
"Some of us are here."

Then some more muppets would come out and he'd sing:
"Some of us are here."

Then a WHOLE MESS of muppets would come out and he'd sing:
"AND ALL OF US ARE HERE! All my cousins and all my aunts and all my uncles and all my sisters and all my brothers and all my nephews and all my neices and all my friends and ...."

Then some muppets would leave.
"Well some of my cousins and some of my aunts and some of my uncles and some of my sisters and some of my brothers and some ... "

"... and some ... "

"... and some! ..."

"... and none! ..."

"Except me."

The end.

And I know that probably made no sense and had nothing to do with nothing but, there it is.

I really feel bad for you Mara, and I know what it feel like, I once broke the screen of my desktop computer :wacko:,man back then I was like NNNNNNOOOOO and my father was like MY MONEY :lol:, at lest you still have the data, and I hope you well got a batter laptop soon ^_^.
