-OK, I'll admit it. I'm doing this update PURELY for self-promotional reasons. Here we go: I finally uploaded the first volume of The Other Side of Tomorrow! Woohoo! Check it out here.
-That aside, I really have nothing else to say. Go figure.

Sadly, yes. I intended to post a 30-page installment once a month, but since I gave this first one to you early (that's right, I posted it in December instead of the first day of January like I planned) the next entry won't be until February 1st. Or maybe I'll post it sometime sooner. It depends on how merciful I'm feeling, as well as how much closer I am to finishing the fic. ;)-edit: Oh, and the next one is in..FEBURARY?

-Today's update is not a happy one. It has come to my attention that someone on this board STOLE Cami's fic "Red Eyes and Black Clothes" and posted it as their own on fanfiction.net. I don't know about you, but in my mind this is a VERY serious offense. Cami spent a year writing that fanfic and I spent 4 hours reading, editing, and formatting it. We didn't do all that hard work just to turn around and have it stolen, simply because someone was too lazy to come up with their own story. This willingness to abuse the copy + paste key is NOT the mark of a true writer, and it's a disgrace to all fanfic authors and to JN fans in general. I know writing a fanfic is hard...I've spent the last year working on mine. However, that is NO excuse to steal someone else's work.
Now, I know who committed this offense, and some of you probably do too. But more importantly, unless she is seriously lacking in the intelligence department (which may prove to be the case), the plagiarist knows what she did. She needs to come clean. She took the easy way out and did something that was blatantly wrong, whatever way you look at it. I don't care how old you are, I don't care what excuses you make, and I don't care what reasons you may have. Copying and pasting someone else's writing and then showing it off as your own is NOT OK.
So here's what's gonna happen. If this person comes to this topic or the one in the fanfic section and PUBLICLY apologizes for what she did, then I will reduce the punishment to a 30 day suspension. However, if this person does NOT, she will find herself permanently banned from this forum and no amount of persuasion will convince me otherwise. If she does admit the wrongdoing and removes the stolen work from fanfiction.net, then she will be allowed back on the boards after having received her month long suspension. Everyone understand?
So, plagiarist, I know who you are, and this is your last chance to redeem yourself. You recently wrote me a personal message complaining that you were bored, and you asked me for a suggestion of what to do. Ignoring the sheer stupidity of this request, I have a suggestion. How about you compose a sincere letter of apology, and then set to work writing your OWN fanfic, instead of stealing someone else's?
Think it over,

I do feel bad even though I'm not the one who did it... like at school when the teacher yells at the class and I feel bad even though I wasn't one of the ones talking. Not that you yelled at us or anything, I just have personalization issues.
But ummm to lighten this post up a bit...
I'm going to start reading The Other Side of Tomorrow tonight. I originally wasn't going to because I know it's long and I haven't followed it from the beggining as others have; but I've heard so many positive reviews that I decided to after all.

And I would love to read your fanfic but I've been so darn busy with shopping and returning and friends and all that, but I've only read the first chapter and some of the second. It seems vaguely familiar but I know I haven't read your fanfic before.

Well, that was pretty sad just to go and steal a story from someone. What, does she not have the talent to come up with an original plot or something? If you don't have the talent to write, do what I did: PRACTICE.
It took me a long time to get where I am today. It's not easy starting out something, and completely sucking on it, but if you at least practice, you get better bit by bit.
To steal someone else's hard work and dedication is just not cool, dude. Not at all.
MORE POWER TO YA MARA. :)
By the way- Typo on when I spelt February. SORRY. I always get February and January confused.... Hey, no one can be perfect.

Apologies if I sounded like I was yelling at any of you guys in my last update - except of course the person who stole Cami's fic. I don't want to come off as an old bitty or something. Actually, I think a 30 day suspension for plagiarism is pretty lenient, considering many colleges and schools expel people for plagiarism. I don't want to turn this into a witch-hunt, and we shouldn't put the person down, but at the same time she needs to know that stealing other people's work isn't gonna go over well in the real world. If she wanted to display the fanfic elsewhere she could have asked for permission.
Sorry if I sound like a grump to any of you. It's just that frankly this person has caused me nothing but trouble. She's broken the rules, gotten into fights, irritated other people, written me notes asking me to cure her bordeom, and just to add the icing to the cake, she stole my friend's fanfic. The sequence of events left me feeling a little less than benevolent.
I hope you all understand and don't think I am being too harsh. Thanks for reading!

I've been plagarized before, on roleplaying sites, and it sucks. I also have had my story ideas stolen, if anyone remembers my fic about the JN gang going into books. Someone actually added another chapter to MY fic, then continued to write their own fic, using exact dialogue from mine. Ew. I'm pretty sure I speak for all fanfic writers when I say that we really don't have time for people like you. Go write your own fic, and don't pass off other people's hard work, creativity and effort. What took Cami a year took you two mouse clicks. Those nice, however ignorant reviews to the truth that you got are rewards that you don't deserve.
I would like to say, Cami, that I read your fic and thought it was very good. I'm so sorry that this happened to you.
And plagarizer, I think Mara is being VERY nice considering other offenses you've commited on this site. I know who you are, and Mara does as well, so don't even try and deny what you did.
Ew.
