I ship JC and SL, which isn't much of a surprise because I can't stand non-canon pairings for the most part. I like going along with the story that the writer(s) give me to ride. B)
Plus, I am a SUCKER for love/hate relationships, and JC is probably one of the best examples of that.
Soooo...yep. The writers definitely had Jimmy and Cindy in mind as the major "relationship/conflict" plotline, and Sheen and Libby as sort of adorable side plot. I don't think they would have written the show the way they did if they intended Jimmy to end up with Betty or Libby (sorry, I can't really consider April because she's just in it once, after all).
*huggles canon*
Part of the reason I love JN is BECAUSE of the great canon pairings. I don't like stories with boring couples...just not as entertaining. Jimmy and Betty...too simple. Jimmy and Libby...too flat. I tend to look for the conflict and the sparks, I guess. Hence why I "shipped" Ron and Hermione since I read Book 1 nearly nine years ago. :D The crazy emotionally confusing ride is where it is at!
So I guess I'll take this moment to say that any fanfics I write will be very canon-oriented, in pairings and otherwise. I love the show for what it is. :D

Sooooo agree with you there! Even when I read books and things, I tend to go with the canon pair. Every now and then I find the main couple too boring and find some other pairing I prefer, but usually I prefer to see the couple the writers intended to put together...well, TOGETHER. XD
After joining IDOJ and talking to members who are serious shippers of other pairings, I've opened up a bit to others. Still don't really ship them actively, you might say, but I can at least understand why people DO ship them, at least.
I admittedly have a weird thing for S/C, but I certainly wouldn't want to really see that couple together. It's just fun as a "what if" scenario. Slinky's fic with S/C and J/L I actually got into, but then she MEANT to put those couples together, so you could call 'em canon in that situation. She surprised me, actually. When I first saw it was an S/C and J/L fic I thought I wouldn't like it. (No offense to Slink's brilliant writing abilities; I'm just not really into those pairings.) So, yeah, she's the main reason I opened up more to S/C and --gasp-- EVEN J/L (though, like Katie mentioned, it lacks the spice the other pairings, even S/C, have).
Maybe that'll explain things to Pigquet more.
J/C and S/L all the way!!!!!
I love you for being a canon shipper, Katie! Hurray!
