Hi there!

Very good Beks. And - wow! - how do I say it? Super serious and powerful.
-I had no idea Retroville had such problems. They don't go into THAT on the television show. ^_^

But it's very cool that you are. It looks to be a great story.

Snazzo: Waiting to see what happens next!

I can't take all of the credit. Most of the story line is based off a Superman comic that jeh517 mentioned to me, and asked me to do a fanfic based on it. The comic was done during the time when that kind of stuff was common place in America. It was a challenge to do it with both Libby and Cindy, cause the real comic only has Lois going to a neighborhood called Little Africa. So to counter that, Libby is going to a snobby upper middle class neighborhood.

And I like to thanks Beks for doing the idea based on the superman comic. Cause it took me a long time to find someone who is a big fan of Jimmy Neutron and like to do fanfics about the series. Keep up the great work on it Beks.

Good job on writing something like this, Beks! Unfortunately a lot of America IS like that, basing people on color. It's pretty sad, but what can we do? I'm glad to live in a place that's integrated and extremely diverse.

It only shows how great of a writer your really are to take on a piece with this, and a request nonetheless. Excellent work! I can't wait to see what it'll be like when Libby goes to an upper-middle class area. XD

Update soon and keep it up!

Hey Beka, your story is great.

Poor Cindy. No one was talking to her in the black neighborhood.

Keep writing.

Ok, here it is! Part 3 of Chapter 3!

Chapter 3: Discrimination Nation (part 3)

Libby got confidently out of the cab, notepad in hand, and leaned down to talk to the driver.

"Thanks, Uncle Benny. I owe you one." Uncle Benny absently brushed back his greying hair with his hand.

"Don't even worry about it, my little bon-bon." he said, using one of his many pet names for his neice. He glanced outside at the neighborhood behind her. "You really goin' in there?" he asked, his face and tone full of concern. Libby gave a small smile.

"I'll be fine, Uncle Benny." She started to turn away.

"I'll wait for you here!" he called after her. "Be careful, honey!"

"I will!" she called back.

Libby, as well as the rest of Retroville, knew that Green Springs was one of the newest neighborhoods in town. It contained streets upon streets of lovely looking, oddly similar houses, bought by the well-to-do people in the upper-middle class. Almost every house had a pool in the back and a big SUV in the front. The neighborhood was so densely populated that it had its own schools, private schools of course.

Libby walked casually down the newly paved sidewalk, looking for someone to interview, but she couldn't see anyone within sight.

"Where is everyone?" she said to herself. "Maybe I should try door-to-door." She stopped in front of a large, pale yellow house. A small sign stuck into the brilliantly green lawn read:

Mr. and Mrs. Cole
President and Vice Presicent of the Neighborhood Association.

"Perfect." Libby said, walking up the driveway. She knocked politely on the sage green door, and waited for an answer. A voice inside shouted, "Got it!" and the door opened to reveal a little girl around five or six years old, dressed in cute, matching pink clothes and pink ribbons tied in her blond hair. She stared at Libby with frightened blue eyes. Libby sensed her fright, and tried to calm her.

"It's ok, little girl. My name's Libby. What's yours?"

The little girl opened her mouth, and shouted behind her, "Daddy! One of those wierd people are at the door!"

"Wierd people? What's that about?" Libby thought. Footsteps could be heard from inside the house. A man's voice, presumably Mr. Cole's, called, "Whitney, you know you're not supposed to answer the door! What are you going on ab..." Mr. Cole came into view and stopped in midsentence when he saw Libby standing on the threshold.

"Oh, I see." he said stiffly. He quickly pulled Whitney away from the door and stood in her place, holding the door with one hand, as if in anticipation to close it. "May I help you?" he asked with a stern expression on his face.

"Oh, hi. I'm sorry to bother you Mr. Cole, but..."

"Who told you my name?" he retorted, a hint of fear in his voice.

"Um, it's on your sign." Libby said, pointing behind her.

"Oh, right." he said. Libby continued.

"I was wondering if you'd like to..."

"I'm sorry," he quickly interupted. "We're not interested in anything you're selling." He started to close the door.

"But I'm not..." The door slammed in her face. She sighed heavily. Voices could be heard from behind the door, and she leaned in to listen.

"See Whitney? This is why you shouldn't open the door. I don't want you left unprotected in front of people like that." He spoke the last word as if he had a bad taste in his mouth. Libby took a step back in shock.

"Wow, rude much?" she thought to herself. She walked back to the sidewalk. "Let's try next door."

As she walked up to the front door, she could hear children laughing merrily from somewhere in the house. She rang the musical doorbell and heared hurried footsteps approach the door, then stop. She waited a moment, but no one opened the door. She knew someone was behind the door, because she heared shuffling. Looking up at the peek hole, she shouted through the door, "Would it be to much to ask you to open the door?"

Suddenly, the unmistakable click of a dead bolt lock sounded. Libby put her hands on her hips, her forehead furrowed in confusion. "Ok..." she said slowly. "Third time's a charm." She started towards the next house.

This time, the door opened a little, to reveal part of a woman's frightened face.

"Hi. I'm..." The door slammed shut with a bang. Libby threw her hands up above her head, and let out a frustrated growl. Stomping back towards the street, she murmured angily, "What's wrong with these people? What are they so afraid of?" She stopped and turned back down the way she had come.

"Well, back to the drawing board, I guess."

Was it good? Or horribly bad? :protest:

Look for chapter 4 some time this month! (I hope  )

Hi there!

Have a good spring break Beks!
-Hope you get to do a lot of writing.
-Don't forget about Letters From Sweden though! I really liked that one, and I miss it.

But anyway, that was a good chapter. Poor Libby!

...

There are some people on this earth that do not love their fellow men, and I HATE people like that. :P

...

I'm eager to see what happens next, and what the girls will do to overcome their problems.

Ok, as promised, I've finished chapter 4 before the end of my spring break, which ends Tuesday. At least I have Monday off!

Chapter 4: Wanted: Test Subjects

Cindy walked slowly upstairs to her room, her mind trying to make sense of what she had seen in Turnersville. It was still morning, and she didn't expect Libby to be back for a couple more hours. When she opened the door to her room, however, she was surprised to see Libby already there, laying across the bed, her feet dangling off the edge. She sat up slowly at the sight of Cindy's arrival, and turned her CD player down.

"Whatcha doing back so early?" she asked curiously. Cindy walked the rest of the way in the room and sat down next to Libby.

"I could ask you the same thing," she answered with a small smile.

They took turns recalling the frustrating and confusing events they had witnessed that morning. By the time they were done, Cindy was already pacing the room, trying hard not to punch something.

"So then I went to go find Uncle Benny, and came here," Libby concluded. Cindy stopped in mid-stride and turned to stare at Libby.

"How can people be so...so..." She let out a frustrated growl, and losing her self control, took a swinging kick at her punching bag. Libby jumped off the bed and took Cindy firmly by the shoulders.

"Calm down, Cindy! We'll figure out why." Cindy sighed heavily and shook away Libby's grasp.

"But that's just it, Libby. We both already know why they won't talk to us. It's because I'm white and you're black. Because those people are still stuck in the 1950's, and there's no way we can change the entire neighborhood's mind about it." She turned away from Libby and took a few steps.

"So what do you suppose we do, then?" Libby exclaimed, the frustration finally getting to her. "Switch skin colors?"

Cindy gasped and whipped around to face Libby. "That's it!" she shouted. "We'll switch skin colors!"

"Um, Cindy?" Libby said. "Ya know I was kidding, right? How do you think we'd do that?" Cindy turned and looked out the window, smiling curiously at the house across the street.

"We can't," she explained. "but I know someone who can."

*~*~*~*~*~*

Jimmy was working dilegently at his computer when he heard muffled screams and, getting up from his chair, he was just in time to see Cindy and Libby land heavily on the floor.

"You really need to invest in a mattress or something," Cindy said as they stood up from the floor, rubbing their backsides.

"Cindy? Libby? How in the name of quantum physics did you get in here?" Jimmy asked, shock mixed with suspision written on his face. Libby held up an old brown bag.

"We borrowed Carl's bag of your hair."

"You borrowed...gimme that!" He angrily grabbed the bag from Libby's hand and stomped towards the trash can.

"What's the point of having the DNA scanner, now that everyone seems to get in anyway?" he mumbled to himself. "Maybe I should get an iris scanner..." He threw the bag in the trash and, wiping his hands noisely, turned back to face the girls.

"Now, enlighten me on why you felt the need to intrude my lab." He crossed his arms expectantly. Cindy and Libby exchanged glances.

"You wanna go first?" Cindy asked. Libby nodded solumnly.

As the repeated their bizare tales, Jimmy's frustrated stare softened to one of disgusted amazement.

"So I took the kid's advice and went home," Cindy finished.

"I can't believe people in Retroville could still be so racist," Jimmy said, putting a hand thoughtfully on his chin.

"So, will ya help us?" Libby pleaded. Jimmy wrung his hands nervously.

"I don't know. I haven't tested the Metamorphosis Pod on humans yet, and I was going to use Sheen and Carl for that."

"We don't mind, right Cindy?"

"Right. We really need your help, Jimmy." At the sound of Cindy's voice saying his name, Jimmy's eyes lit up. He gave in.

"Oh, all right. Let's do this."
