Idea #4: A complex fantasy world involving mermaids, pirates, and political intrigue (yes, you heard me right). In this strange world, each creature that is born on land has a counterpart born in the sea - a maritime mirror image, if you will. So, each human being that enters the world does so at the same time that a mer-version of him or her is born in the sea. However, the two are not equal. Those born on land are doomed to live a brief life full of affliction, disease, and weakness, but in turn they are granted an immortal soul. Those born in the sea, however, (that is, the "mermaids") possess fantastic powers ranging from the ability to control the weather and manipulate water to the ability to mesmerize. They will never succumb to disease and live for very long periods - but they lack an immortal soul, and when they die, that's it.
There's a catch to this, though. If a human being can find their "sea-sister" or "sea-brother", the two will be bonded. The mer-person will share the human's soul, thus gaining immortality, and in return the human will be able to use all sorts of crazy fantastic powers.
The story centers around Rum Narelle, a penniless, traveling storyteller who accidentally finds her sea-sister (this is where I got my pirate name, "Rum") and Shen Onkar, a young pirate Captain with two different color eyes (this is actually significant, though I can't tell you why) and a singularly terrifying reputation.

No, I'm afraid not. TOSOT is the last fanfic I will write...after all, sooner or later I have to start writing my debut novel, right? ;)

AURORA: When I saw Future Libby again in Shangri Llama, I was...overwhelmed. I couldn't even feel myself breathe. I had always hoped she was still alive, of course, but I assumed that since she wasn't with Dictator Jimmy that he must have abandoned her somewhere, and that I'd never see her again.

What would I say to him? Pff, Trust me, I've said ALL sorts of things to him <_<...except for perhaps the one thing that I wanted to say the most: Why? If I could ask one thing and one thing only, I'd ask him why.

DICTATOR JIMMY: Lonely? Not in particular. I have more than enough to keep me occupied. From time to time, I suppose, I crave some intelligent conversation.

In regards to your second question, why should I squander my time and energy hunting down rebels spread across several galaxies? No, I am waiting for them to come to me. They will very soon attempt a large-scale attack, and when they do, I will destroy them all at once.

You forget that I have, on several occasions, had the chance to kill Aurora. In the end, one of us will have to die. She will not rest until she has killed me or been killed by me...we shall see which way events turn. Her death would be somewhat regrettable, I'll admit. She's the only opponent who stands even a remote chance of defeating me, and without her I'll be hard pressed to find a challenge anywhere.

APRIL: I am so glad you asked! My favorite weapon at the moment (for my opinion is bound to change as new weapons are issued) is the Class-A X60 Particle Cannon...my newest acquisition. If you recall, I first used it to destroy Dictator Jimmy's scout vessel through the Desperado's broken viewing portal. The kick-back alone is enough to knock over a full grown warthog, and the blast radius is capable of destroying an entire city at close range. What a glorious weapon! **sigh**

JIMMY: Well, maybe a little.
CINDY: OK, a little.
JIMMY: I'll admit that I'm very frightened of the fact that our fighting is capable of producing such disastrous results. I guess we can never really predict the consequences of our actions.
CINDY: I guess all of this has made me realize that I should be more careful about the way I act. Maybe we don't need to fight quite so much.

DJ: Deleting them was actually an act of mercy. They were of no further use to me, and it would only have caused them undue suffering to witness my actions. I feel that I spared them a horrible future, so no...I have no regrets.
