Time is Money

0:05

The title music is groovy

We ready to Marty McFly this one.

0:44

"It wasn't all painfully horrible"

Ah yes, my senior quote

1:18

"Where is Waldo?"

A question that has baffled scientists for decades.

2:02

Hugh can't keep the difference between a dollar and a duckling.

3:38

The fact that Jimmy has a time machine seems like it should come up on a lot more episodes.

5:05

"The past is kinda dorky"

Carl, have you seen your father? Nothing ever changes.

5:39

Carl trying to be hip with the ancient people of the 1970s

7:39

Apparently rich people don't buy furniture

8:42

Whoever totally free to insult me if you pay me a bar of solid gold first.

9:15

Jimmy will have to wait a few years before he's tall enough to reach the books on the top shelf.

10:56

Next time just past Hugh 50 more dollars and we could afford all the pie we want in the present

11:04

Hugh planning his future as the dictator of Quackerville. Or as I should say, duck-tator.

"The fact that Jimmy has a time machine seems like it should come up on a lot more episodes." LOL this is so true! Maybe they felt they did the time travel thing and didn't have to do it again? But I mean, come on. Such potential!

0:22

Sheen apparently has a sister that is never mentioned again.

0:30

I mean... the man has touched a llama. What's more worldly than that?

0:58

Judy and Hugh gives zero shits about the giant crater in the backyard.

1:02

Hugh is just here for the food.

1:14

Carl is far to tired to understand Jimmy this episode. That's surely the problem.

2:00

Jimmy manages to bore his dream monsters to sleep so it can dream up its own dream monsters.

3:14

5Uw8oV2.png

If the dream monster doesn't murder Carl, Jimmy and Sheen will get him next.

3:34

Great, now we need to enter Sheen's dreams next.

3:46

There are eleven people in this class with only four unique models. I guess Carl's dream blew all its budget on the llamas.

3:57

Who would win: Carl "The Merciful and Powerful" Wheezer or Libby "The Mighty-Fine Royal Fabulousness" Folfax?

4:10

That's what people who install Linux sound like.

4:26

This show has now been renamed The Adventures of Jimy Jiwym Jimmmz Jeeme Bob Neutron

5:08

TBNLB56.png

The origin story of Jimmy's hair.

5:38

Carl be like:

ddZX9h4.png

6:26

If superman can change his entire look by taking off his glasses, then so can Carl's the Ultra Principal's brain.

6:56

884ldSX.png

This video is too low quality for me to read this, but I can make out "llama riding shenanigans" which sounds like some rather potent shenanigans indeed.

7:44

Hugh: "Let go! I taste pie with that!"

As a wise man once said last episode "A man's got to have his priorities"

8:23

Jimmy: "You told me about the horrible, spooky thing, oh handsome Carl, while you were peddling a bike with no wheels backwards up the pyramids in a ballerina's tutu"

Carl: "Oh yeah, I remember that"

Shame we don't have a visual of that magnificent scene.

9:08

Jimmy can solve the Riemann hypothesis, and Carl can transmute things into worms. Useful powers to have.

9:14

The cartoon chase scene tactic of turning round a corner while somehow your chaser doesn't see and run past. A classic!

9:43

Carl has zero faith in the shippers.

10:20

We ran out of time for a lima bean fight, but now we have lunch.

10:30

If all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a giant lima bean monster.

10:50

Cindy: "Not even in his dreams, Neutron!"

Cindy wants to keep all the dreams for herself.

Some animator had a lot of fun with Ms. Fowl's chalkboard doodles.

1:06

Cindy: Libby! What are you doing with Brittany!

Libby: Nothing!  This- this isn’t the new mixed masterpiece CD and I didn’t promise to do Brittany's entire project in exchange for it, if that’s what you’re thinking!

template-speech-100-0c6db91aec9c.png

1:20

I think Ms. Fowl ships Jimmy and Cindy. She's here for the drama.

2:10

Jimmy: Capable of attaining undersea depths of ninety thousand fathoms!

Considering the deepest point of the ocean is only about 7000 fathoms, I find this to be an entirely excessive number of fathoms.

2:15

Sheen: Ninety thousand fathoms! That’s more than... sixty thousand fathoms!

bZQvwpI.png

I just fact checked this, and it checks out. Move aside Jimmy; We got a new genius on this show.

2:23

I like Carl's implication that Jimmy would chose to move to the bottom of the ocean like in TOSOT specifically so he doesn't have to talk to Cindy anymore.

3:20

Cindy doesn't mind sharing the cozy submarine with Jimmy.

4:33

Sheen: Go ahead Captain Jimmy tell us about your goofy and unnecessary invention.

Sheen describes the plot of the entire show.

5:12

Carl: Hi. Oh, hey little fella! Hi! Do you like fish Snack’ems? They're made from fish like you, only cut up into little bite-sized pieces and deep-fried in burning oil!

Carl accidentally rolls high on an Intimidation check.

6:55

Jimmy: Don’t worry I’ve made an automatic piloting system out of my mom’s microwave! It’s been piloting the sub for hours.

*The microwave dings and opens to reveal a perfectly cooked steaming pie.*

Jimmy: Whoops, wrong setting.

As a wise, duck-and-pie-loving man once said: "A man has to have his priorities."

7:15

Sheen: Lost! We can’t be lost! We only brought enough food for two days, and I’m not eating Carl!

I vaguely remember the episode Stranded from season 3, where Sheen attempting to eat Carl was a plot point. I guess he changes his mind.

8:55

Cindy will sell Jimmy to the giant squid for one corn chip.

9:50

You might think its odd that Jimmy's invention can be powered by snack foods, but when you think about it, all inventions area really powered by snack food.

10:50

Apparently the real treasure was the snack food we found along the way.

Ms. Fowl: And remember it’s not about who’s more talented; it's about winning a very large and expensive solid gold trophy for first place!

Considering the school is apparently offering a Solid Gold trophy for an elementary school talent show, I think Ms. Fowl is absolutely correct.

1:03

Cindy: Hey guys we’re gonna go sign up for the talent contest. You should sign up too!

For a brief moment, the boys are complete caught up in Cindy's general enthusiasm about the talent show with no cynicism about why Cindy is really here... and then she keeps talking and reminds us she's Cindy.

1:10

Cindy came here specifically to start shit, which leads to Jimmy coming up with the idea for starting a band. If she had just said nothing, she and Libby would have been competing against algebra in Latin, and surely won. Who cares about winning the talent show when you can come over and mock Jimmy? Cindy has her priorities in order.

1:50

Carl: No way! You girls will definitely win!

Carl then gives the girls a double thumbs-up, and for a second Cindy loses her smug expression and awkwardly returns the thumbs-up. She was here to crush the boys; she was not expecting any of them to actually acknowledge her talent and does not know where to go from here.

2:24

Sheen: Oh man did they ever make a mistake, with our power cords and fat beats they’re gonna wish they never I mean- hey wait a minute we don’t have a rock band.

Sheen is so ride-or-die he was momentarily forgot he was living in a world where they don't actually have a band.

3:30

Carl: I got a band name and it's great.

Sheen: Does it have the word "llama" in it?

Carl:

Everyone in the crowd:

7:06

Carl's Britishness is reaching lethal levels.

8:21

A lot of Jimmy's misadventures arise from his inventions not quite working exactly as intended, but in this case the mind instruments functioned perfectly (at least until Sheen defenestrated them). This time they were undone entirely because they are terrible people.

8:51

We've finally come back around to Ms. Fowl's lesson for the episode: "It's not about being talented; It's about winning."

10:30

Cindy: Hey guys, I got a new name for you: "The Losers".

Cindy and Libby have been up practicing their dance for far too long to be on their A-game of clever insults.

Imo, she was pushing Libby WAY too hard... Libby was complaining of not having eaten or slept, yet Cindy thought she was just slacking... She legit wasn't slacking; she looked sooooo exhausted, poor girl... Hey, wait, did they even take bathroom or water breaks?? I mean, jeez, Cindy... <_< Gas planet...! I bet she got those control issues about being better from her mom! If so, that means she's pushed equally as hard by Sasha, and though she doesn't show it externally, I bet on the inside she's worn out, irritated, and genuinely pissed off at her mom's treatment of her... I mean, I know I would be if I was her! :grr:

Ultra Lord is dying in the heat, and comes to the conclusion that while a full suit of power armor is cool (style-wise), it is not cool (temperature-wise).

1:28

I'm trying to figure out where this scene is set. Cindy's house is usually shown to be across the street from Jimmy and Carl's houses, and Sheen doesn't live in the culdesac. However, the place the boys are chilling shares a fence with backyard pool the girls are in. I've come to the conclusion that at least one of these groups has broken into some random neighbor's yard.

1:49

Cindy then busts out a legal contract:

"The signatory shall be granted access to the pool. In exchange, the signatory affirms that girls are better than boys, in perpetuity through the universe."

Sheen and Carl immediately bring out their fanciest pens.

2:21

Jimmy:

uA2DcIi.png

2:37

Jimmy: This quantumly-enhanced SPF 9000 should shield the entire town.

Good thing its not a single-point higher, or I would have to add yet another outdated meme to this post.

3:24

Hugh decides that today is as good a day as any to go mad.

4:03

The implication that Cindy has gotten very into ranting about Jimmy for so long that she didn't notice Libby just climb out of the pool and leave.

4:18

I just realized a mistake that child me made when watching this episode. Goddard displays the temperature as 20 as they go to sleep., I thought, "I guess that despite the snow its still pretty warm outside." I'm Canadian. We use Celsius here. 20 Celsius is room temperature. Didn't occur to me that this was Fahrenheit.

4:40

Upon waking up, Goddard now displays -30F/-34.4C. This is extremely dangerous. For reference at -13F/-25C, schools will stop sending kids outside. Also, I can't imagine that most people in Texas would have snowsuits to protect themselves. This episode probably has the highest death toll of every episode so far combined.

5:07

Carl's brand of sunscreen is "That Evil Sun Co.", which I think is a fun detail.

6:27

Jimmy blames Sheen for everyone figuring that this situation was his fault. No one really needed Sheen's help; They just woke up to something weird and went "I bet this is Jimmy's fault somehow."

7:22

Jimmy somehow outruns that rest of his murderous classmates using his tiny nerd legs.

7:42

You might think the dads aren't very good hunters. On the contrary, they've bagged every caribou in the entire state.

7:59

Ooooooh Caribou!

8:07

Jimmy executes the classic chase scene maneuver, where you turn around a corner, your pursuers somehow don't notice, and they keep going straight.

9:30

Cindy, as the pool freezes around her:

JMNcqOT.png

10:24

While Jimmy was wandering around town gathering some sweaty guys for the water, he thinks "You know what else I need? Ms. Fowl playing the drums. Can't save the town without that."

11:33

Next week's fashion trend is pine tree air freshener necklaces.

Something that always bothered me about Jimmy on Ice is that everyone is still dressed as though it isn't below freezing outside. So nobody owns winter clothes? (I know it is most likely too hard to animate different clothes on the characters, but it still bugged me.)

That's def a good point. I remember some time ago I heard the reason they didn't give them space suits/helmets was because it would inhibit their facial expressions which makes sense. Reminds me of Sheen asking Jimmy why they don't have to wear helmets in space and Carl starts singing when Jimmy answers. Guess we'll never know!
