Who has seen this gorgeous movie? I saw it on Friday and every day I think about it more and fall in love with it more. Been listening to the soundtrack practically nonstop.
In my opinion, this is the best Disney movie in YEARS. I really loved Tangled, and Wreck-It-Ralph was adorable, but there's something about this movie...it's just on another level.
It's a musical, for one thing. Legitimately a musical, in the entire way it's constructed.
The animation is stunning. Symbolism everywhere. Scenery that'll knock your socks off.
The characters are fleshed out and interesting, and some of the most unique in terms of personalities I've ever seen in Disney. They fill in the usual tropes, but in neat new ways that make you smile.
The only negative is that it ends up in a bit of plot/character soup at times, and probably would've benefited from an extra 10 minutes to weave some of that through more naturally.
But overall, this movie was beautiful, in terms of animation, music, and story-telling. I really can't get over it. I enjoyed Tangled, but I felt like it tried a bit too hard with the male lead and love interest, and the music wasn't that memorable to me. Enjoyable, yes, but nothing to write home about. I didn't walk away from that one stunned. I walked away entertained and excited to someday own it, sure, but I didn't walk away STUNNED.
This time I did. Frozen floored me.
If you haven't seen it, and enjoy musicals, you need to get yourself to a theater. I don't know if everyone will love it as much as me, but I would be surprised if anyone doesn't find something to enjoy in it.
