I'm getting steadily more excited for the sequel. I finished season one of Dragons: Riders of Berk today. And I will definitely be watching season two, which will be called Dragons: Defenders of Berk, when it airs in September.

And I found the link to his article on the How to Train Your Dragon page on Facebook: http://www.slashfilm...-the-first-one/

Just a stub and a couple quotes, but it's something.

Now I can't wait to see the sequel, now that I've seen the first!  You were right, Mary!  The movie IS freaking epic!!!

That it is. The show is significantly better than I expected as well. Episode 5 is when it started exceeding my expectations, and episode 10 (the halfway point of the season) is where it starts to really get good. Episode 13, "When Lightning Strikes" is probably my favorite episode, followed closely by the two-part season finale.

The show did a fantastic job expanding on Fishlegs' character. His relationship with his gronckle, Meatlug, is absolutely adorable. They did a pretty decent job with Snotlout's characterization as well, though I'd have liked more. He was my favorite of Hiccup's Dragon Training peers in the movie. I even quoted him in my senior yearbook.

Astrid stayed mostly static, though. She didn't grow much from where she was at the end of the movie, though DreamWorks confirmed they'd explore her and her family more in Defenders of Berk.

Ruffnut and Tuffnut weren't explored anywhere near as much as I would have liked. They had the typical twin angst episode--because apparently every show with characters who are twins must show them angsting about it at least once--but they're still held at a distance, which is a disappointment. I'd really like to see them grow in future episodes, both as a team and individually. Especially Ruffnut. I like her better than Tuffnut, but he gets more lines than she does.

And as I've said a few times now, the humor isn't quite as clever or funny as in the movie--with a few exceptions--but the drama is pretty on par, I think.

Sounds like I definitely need to add the show to my backlog of shows to watch. :D Question: Do they use the same voice actors as the movie? In most movies-gone-tv-shows, they end up needing to use new voice actors, which always gets under my skin for some reason... (Same thing when I watch an anime in its original Japanese then try to watch the English dub, or vice versa... it's just too weird! InuYasha is a prime example of that...)

Ruffnut and Snotlout have different voice actors, but everyone else is the same. And I personally can't tell the difference for those two, anyway. The new actors do a good job of replicating their original voice actors.

HTTYD isn't anime, so why is it in Comic-Con, just like KP is??  Besides, I wonder why he wasn't pictured with Toothless... XD

Comic-Con isn't an anime convention.  It's a multi-genre convention that started out as a comic book convention. A lot of the really big cons are multi-genre, in order to attract wider audiences.

Well, cosplay is still not limited to anime. It's just a contraction of costume play, which just means dressing up in costume.

Saw this today. Sooo good!

My poor feelings, though! My feels!!

I was tearbending, guys. And the 3D was definitely worth it, in my opinion. The aerial shots worked really well. The movie was a major step-up animation-wise. The hair looked way more realistic, as did the bodies (despite the somewhat cartoonish actual figures--the skin looked almost like real skin), and the facial expressions were so good. They were so realistic, that it looked like a real person was making those faces and they fit the moods perfectly. It was a great movie overall, and a very, very good sequel.

Everybody go watch it now!

I saw this awhile back. I loved loved LOVED the first half of the film, but I had mixed feelings about the second half, and about the movie as a whole
