I see a connection between the Paper Mario video games and JTPH 3, it's the 2D/3D Hybrid style of the special that caught my eye.
So, does that style remind you of the Paper Mario series?

Oh yeah, I see that. It's a series of games, Paper Mario came out in the dying days of the Nintendo 64 system. Two sequels followed, The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario.
