The first pairing I shipped was Ron/Hermione from Harry Potter. Soon after that, I started shipping J/C and found it to be more enjoyable and interesting than R/H. So, come out of the shadows and tell us here which was your first ship... :w00t:

TK & Kari, and Patamon & Gatomon from Digimon seasons 1 through 2.

Originally I didn't, but this was because I had no clue what shipping, pairings, basically anything romance was. Davis's crush on Kari, etc? I just thought that was more jokes. Ya'know, kid-mind moreso than now back then, so I couldn't help it. Anyways, one day a friend from a Pokemon/Digimon forum asked me if I liked Takari & PataGato. Needless to say the reaction was "huh? what's that? 0_0". He explained, I decided to re-watch to see the ideal. LOVED the best friend thing with the two pairs, & soon after I found myself shipping other pairs in other shows too. Didn't discover gay/bi pairings till much later when I entered the Hamtaro fandom... that experience scarred me for life, seeing as that the first gay pair I discovered was between my FAV character in that show (Dexter) & Howdy. Needless to say considering the whole Dexter/Pashmina pairing that I had just gotten into beforehand I was searching fanfics for.. yeeah, did NOT go over well. :grr:

BUT, I've come to respect gay/bi stuff so long as its not shoved in my face all the time. =/

After a couple Digi-pairs, I discovered J/C... HATED IT, & moved to create my Jimmy/OC (April Wong) pair as I had been obsessed with thinking of ideas for her story at the time JTPH 2 premiered- this being the ep that opened my eyes to J/C. Soon after in the same year, I saw J/B for the first time (I THINK it was Out Darn Spotlight), never looked back.

Naturally I still like my Jimmy/April (OC) idea, but I find J/B canon (not nearly as much as J/C no, but its actually IN the cartoon), & only way I'll ever see J/A(OC), is if I learned LightWave & sat down to actually trace enough screens to make an episode about the whole thing. *shrug*

Hmmm...

Well. I didn't know what "shipping" was until just a few years ago, but I did root for certain fictional couples growing up.

The first couple I shipped when I actually knew what shipping meant was probably Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny (I shipped them before I knew what shipping meant, as well, but they were the first ones I realized the word applied to - I started wanting them to be together when I first read the books in 9th grade. Didn't know what shipping was until college.).

The first couple I shipped when I had no idea there was a special word for it (and never thought about it until just now that I "shipped" them) (heck, at my age, I wouldn't be surprised if I "shipped" things before "shipping" was ever actually coined, much less before I heard of it)...

Hrm. Honestly, it's going to be Star Wars related. I rooted for Han and Leia in the movies, but that's not a big deal cuz they're obvious. In the Star Wars BOOKS, in addition to Han/Leia I cheered on Corran/Mirax, Luke/Mara Jade, Jacen/Tenel Ka, and Jaina/Zekk. Others, too. This was all between 4th grade and 7th grade.

I finally expanded my horizons a bit by the end of middle school, lol, and actually got interested in things other than Star Wars. My first TV ship was Batman/Catwoman. This was followed by Arnold/Helga and Ash/Misty. And then Harry Potter entered my life in 1999 and Ron/Hermione took over all the brainpower I had devoted to picking out couples in fiction. And here we are back at where I began this post.

I think the first couple I shipped was James/Lily, from Harry Potter. That was back in 6th grade, when I first found out about fanfiction, and HP fanfiction brought me to ff.net, where I spent my time reading fics about the Marauders time period.

The first slash couple I was ever introduced to (as something other than a joke) was Danny/Tucker in the Danny Phantom fandom. Didn't like it at the time because I was so hard-core Danny/Sam, but I have a newfound respect for it, and have deemed it my DP slash ship. All my fandoms have at least one slash couple I ship actively (HP has two). But Chad/Ryan from HSM was the first slash couple I ever actually shipped.

Wow, guys. All your stories are amazing.

Yep, I too didn't know what shipping maeant until I went online to an R/H site. Over there someone had explained what it meant, and since then I had used this term. before that, it was 'rooting' for me. I'm the only one in my grade who knows what 'shipping' actually means, and that gets a bit annoying, becoz when I talk about JC or RH or any couple they stare at me blankly. <_<

I tried to explain what it meant and I failed miserably. Anyone over here knows a good explaination of shipping I can give to my friends? Thanks in advance.

i didn't know what a ship was until 7th grade but thyere's was couples that i looked before that. i didn't really think much about fictional character couples until i saw the episode of teen titans when they introduce terra on the day(i first saw this episode the day it came out).once i saw that episode, i knew that terra/beast boy were a cute couple. Eventually after that, i started paying attaention to couples more and the list of couples i ship grew bigger and bigger.
