The Sims 3 is coming out in 2009.
THE SIMS 3 WEBSITE.
And OMFG THE GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING. This version focuses on making characters more realistic. You can have many degrees of body types now (fat, muscular, average scrawny, ANYTHING), and you can actually design a personality that is life-like.
There's more!: You can leave your house without having to wait for a billion years. The whole neighborhood is under your control and the characters can interact with each other outside of their homes WITHOUT downloading the setting!!
GRR I CAN'T WAIT. ;B
What about you guys? Your thoughts on this game? ETC.
PS. Yes, we all know that EA games is milking this for all it's worth but WE DON'T CARE WE WANT THE SIMS 3. XDDD

I'm just hoping that my computer will be able to handle the awesomeness. XD When I first got the Sims 2, I was using a really old computer and it took ages for it to load anything, and once it did, it was really slow and choppy, even on the lowest quality setting. It wasn't until I got my laptop that I was able to really enjoy playing. So I hope that it won't be so good that I can't play, if you know what I mean.
I think the Sims 3 addresses all the problems the previous Sims games had. There's only so much you can do when you can't really roam the neighborhood freely and your characters are all variations on a very basic personality. I think with the Sims 3, the possibilities would be endless, and it would be much harder to ever get bored. XD
Yay!

Believe me, its takin all I gots to NOT be super hyper for this game, & computer requirements? Heh, yeah. I SO got that covered, even if I *do* end up needing an even more powerfl computer than my current NEW one. But I shouldn't need a new computer, so no complaints here!! :D

I haven't been able to play this game with FreeTime since I got the EP as a b-day present! & guess what? Its my SECOND FAVE ONE OF ALL!! Nightlife is my fave! =D (ok Krista I'm SURE you know my reason for that ;) )
FREE TIME PATCH
Meep, I seriously love this thing. Probably my two most favorite parts of it are:
Sims can now have SECONDARY aspirations! Seriously, you DO know how majorly annoying Fortune / Popularity aspiring sims' Wants are?! It seems that, for the time I was able to play FreeTime, the secondary aspiration Wants take over the original aspiration's. This will be SO nice for when I play Mortimer Goth with his Knowledge aspiraion's Wants just NOT being fulfillable anymore. All he wants to do is get a Job it seems, & his Life Time aspiration is almost always job related, but because he's an Elder he can't reach the Top of any career to fulfil that. Between Bool Prop & FreeTime, I can fix that, lol.
SECOND FAVE THING:
Sim Children & Teens no longer have to leave their childhoof friends behind by the same age! You can now choose up to three sims your's knows & age them into the next LifeStage too!!
I dunno about you guys, but I'll be lovin this! ^^

ANYWAYS, who has, or is planning to buy The Sims 3? http://www.thesims3.ea.com/
& if you already have it, has anyone even played TS2 or gone to the official forum for it since you started playing TS3? Cause I sure haven't.
Other topics of interest for TS3 conversation-
Favorite activities (Gardening, fishing, etc)?
Favorite new addition since the TS3?
Do you like the realism of the TS3's graphics?
Favorite pre-made sim/sim family? (Mortimer Goth, Agnes Crumblebottom, Micheal Beachelor, etc?)

SOOOOOO I just found this topic...5 years too late
Haha. I'm basically obsessed with this game right now. My cousin gave me her copy about a month ago (and I promptly pirated a bunch of expansion packs), and I've been binging on it ever since. I created an original couple at the outset, and I've been playing through their descendents ever since. Multiple marriages, 4 towns, and many pets later, I'm playing as the great-grandchildren of my original characters.
Anyway, I know that a grand total of NONE of you are interested in my Sims family legacy, but I'm sick and have nothing better to do, sooooo yeah. Behold! 4 generations of the Nagra line:
GENERATION 1

She's Indian, he's Thai; I headcanoned that their parents set them up, and surprise surprise, it actually worked out great. They ended up having 3 kids (2 biological, 1 adopted), and were pretty much always happy with each other. I tend to act as a benevolent god to my Sims, so that's not much of a surprise ![]()
GENERATION 2
Parminder and Naowarat’s kids are shown on the left, alongside their (eventual) spouses.

Sai and Boyd ended up being my favorite characters in this gen; they were childhood friends who used to hang out after school and have sleepovers all the time. The second Boyd came home with Sai, I was like “ahah! Yeessss. Love. I shall make it happen.” He had the clumsy trait, so he was always tripping over himself, and it was just so freakin’ adorkable. When he proposed, he nearly dropped the ring….I love little details like that in the Sims games
Anyway, they eventually adopted a little girl (since Sai was adopted into a nice family, she wanted to pass on the favor).
Rune had a series of girlfriends as a teen and young adult, but none of them really worked out. After I moved the family to Sunlit Tides, he started inviting sims over to play chess - when Alana showed up in her criminal uniform, I was like “damn. That’s the chick for him”. She was already married, but that didn’t stop good ol’ Rune ;-) She eventually gave up her life of crime after she was arrested in front of her son, but by then she had already clawed her way to the top of her evil organization.
Abani, the oldest, was more independent, so she didn’t end up marrying her sweetheart Billie until they were both elders. Of course, they saw each other at work every day anyway, so whatevs… No kids for them. They weren’t really into it.
GENERATION 3

Rune/Alana and Sai/Dill's kids. Santianna was charismatic and artistic and was friends with practically everyone in Lucky Palms...Kai had the eccentric and genius traits, so he was initially more comfortable spending his time at the inventor's bench. Despite being a ridiculously attractive sim, he was romantically clueless (like, actually, autonomously). Santianna tried to set him up with various ladies; he dated her best friend for awhile (a super hot tattoo artist), but that didn't really pan out. After Santianna got back together with her high school boyfriend Craig, Kai met his older sister, and the two of them decided that it would be convenient to date one another (keepin' it in the family, I guess?) As two romantically disinclined people, they ended up being a good match, and everyone was happy. Yay!
GENERATION 4

Santianna’s daughter Nila was always a tough, handy, practical sort of person - as a teen she actually WANTED to go to military school, a request that her parents granted (with some reservations). Kai’s daughter Andromeda was her exact opposite - creative, cerebral, and seemingly out of touch with reality. She had the insane trait for most of her formative years because she was obsessed with her imaginary friend, Paravel (a rather fun option added by the Generations expansion pack). She refused to socialize like a normal person and caused her mother a great deal of worry (her dad, being a bit eccentric himself, was more accepting). A genius chemist, she eventually created a potion that brought Paravel to life and, in doing so, proved to the world that she wasn’t crazy. After that I removed her insanity and replaced it with the childish trait instead.
The relationship between Andromeda and Paravel was by far my favorite example of emergent storytelling during gameplay. Just after Andromeda created the Imaginary Friend Metamorphium, she went to prom - and Paravel just…showed up? Despite the fact that imaginary friends aren’t supposed to be able to leave their home lots? I don’t know if this was a glitch or what, but it made me decide that Paravel was in love with his creator, and she ended up turning him human on the spot so he could attend prom with her. Their relationship was on the rocks for awhile because of how underdeveloped Andromeda’s social skills and friendship network were, but after she sort of “found herself” she realized that Paravel was really the only person (entity?) she’d ever loved, so f*ck the haters. He’s such a devoted sweetheart anyway, so I can see the appeal
(On a side note, I love the brightly colored hair and eyes the programmers gave to the imaginary friends).
As an adult, Nila was content with simultaneously dating a number of her fellow soldiers, which worked great until she ended up having a kid with one of them. Oops. She and Michael don’t really love each other like Andromeda and Paravel, but they do find each other attractive, so whatevs. To each their own.

My Sims 3 family legacy continued...this time, with GENERATION 5!

Philemon in three words: ambitious, focused, and direct. He was a go-getter from a young age, and it didn’t take him long to climb to the top of the corporate ladder. He fell in love with Carolyn at first sight, but she was too young for him...fortunately, he was more than willing to wait a couple years. They’re a very “traditional” couple in terms of gender roles. She’s beautiful, feminine, and domestic, and he’s a protective, athletic bread-winner type. He wooed her with flowers and presents and fancy dates, and she was all like “hell yeah, classy rich guy!” Twu wuv.
Sinclaire grew up super into the grunge/punk aesthetic, and she eventually went on to become a rock star. She married her high school sweetheart, Ethan, a down-on-his-luck kid who spent most of his teenage years homeless (he literally had no home. I checked). Unlike his motivated and talented wife, Ethan never really found what he wanted to do with his life. He ended up stuck in a dead-end part time job, with few hobbies other than cleaning the house and taking care of the kids.
Like her adoptive brother Philemon, Rain was always incredibly ambitious. She used her charisma and her hardcore work ethic to drum up tons of campaign donations, and lo! Way to go, madame president. She had a series of boyfriends (including a childhood friend from her original town), but in the end she never was willing to settle down with any of them.

I'm on Generation 6 now. Send help.

Jasmine was kinda that dumpy, unpopular kid who grew up to be super awesome. She’s career-oriented and focused, and spends most of her days driving around Monte Vista solving cases. She met her husband Rahil back in high school during a slumber party, and they immediately hit it off. Rahil came with both the “Good” and “Kleptomaniac” traits...an odd combo, except maybe in a Robin Hood type character. In the end, I had him pursue a thief/hacker career, and then donate most of his earnings to charity. Love ♡
I decided to play Simon as “that guy who makes a total mess of his own life”. As a young law enforcement agent, he fell in love with his partner Chang Seng - a married man. Chang got divorced to be with him, and things were great for awhile, until Simon got drunk and cheated on him at Jasmine’s bachelorette party. Chang broke things off, and Simon spent the rest of his Young Adult phase acting out because of it. He went through boyfriends and girlfriends like most people go through toilet paper, and it earned him a bad reputation around town. Then, one day, Candie asked him out on a date, and Simon decided he’d had enough of acting like a douchebag. Candie’s sweet, trusting, and kinda ditzy, and since she knew nothing about his past, she was the perfect person for him to start over with.
I'm having a lot of fun with this gen...they’re super rich, have high-powered jobs, and own a shit-ton of venues around Monte Vista. They basically run the town. Too bad Jasmine killed my family planning by popping out twin boys last time she was pregnant. I got four freaking kids running around the house now...
